I'm interested to know if Stephan's father was Christian, and Barbli's maiden name was Griessen, as posted previously, and how was it verified? My line starts with them.

I just received a book, The Troxell Twins of Zweibrucken, authored by Thomas Eckhart, published in 1988 and that information is not in the book. It is over 1000 pages long and very interesting. I'd be happy to look up anything you think may be helpful to you.

I am trying to find the parents of Susan Trachsel. Her dates are 01 Oct 1827--28 Feb 1921. She was first married to Jacob Noffsker in Tuscarawas County, Ohio in 1850. He died in 1856 and she married my relative--Christian Mosshart. There are other Trachsels in Tuscarawas County at that time but I haven't been able to link them up. Anyone out there have any connections???

Hi Carolyn,
So they did come to America four years apart! My Peter came on the same ship-just four years earlier!
I do have the same date for Jakob's death.(b.1652)I didn't know about his twin grandsons, I guess because Peter(b.1723) is the grandson in my line. Interesting to know, though. Thanks!
Holly

Thanks for the additional dates.

My Hans/Johannes, son of Jakob & Margaretha Brengel Trachsel arrived in Philadelphia on August 30,1737 aboard the ship "Samuel".

Also, my info says that Jakob, son of Hans & Elsbeth Gungsel died on Dec, 24,1721, the day before his twin Grandsons, Johannes/Nicholas & Johannes/Michael were born. Do you have the same info?

Keep in touch when you can.

Thanks, Carolyn

Dollyfully!
Glad to connect with you!!
Anna Berchten's birth I have is 20 OCT 1592. Death-6 DEC 1635. That wasn't the Jakob I was asking about!! There's another Jakob two more generations later where he married Margaretha Brengel. That's the one with two sets of parents, and I don't know which is right!
I have dates for Stephan(1536-1587), and Barbli(Griessen)(1538-1575). Marriage was 1560. Stephan's father was Christian abt 1500- all in Lenk, Canton Bern, SW. I do not know if or who Stephan remarried. Probably did tho!
I do fall in this line! Christian to Jakob&Anna Berchten to Hans&Elsbeth Gunset/Gungsel to Jakob&Margaretha Brengel to Peter(1692)&Juliana Catharina Fraudhueger(Which appears to be where we split). Evidently my Peter and your Hans/Johannes were brothers! My line then goes from Peter(1692)to Peter(1723)to Daniel(1753)to Catherine (1779)who married Johannes Biery in 1798, and that ends my Trachsel/Troxels. It was Peter and Juliana who came to this country in 1733. I think his brother came four years later, but I'm not sure!
If you have anything on who Margaretha Brengel's parents really were, I love that! Thanks!
Holly

Thank you so much for this reply.
I didn't have the info for Leni Nussbaum except that she was married to to Jakob Trachsel around 1583.

The only info I have on Anna Berchten is that she was born around 1589 and married Hans Jakob Trachsel on Jan.15,1616.

If you have specific dates for Stephan & Barbli's births & deaths, I'd like to know. After Barbli died around 1577, Stephan probably remarried. Do you know who he married?

I assume you are in this family line. After Stephan, Jakob & Hans Jakob, come Hans & Elsbeth Gungsel Trachsel,Jakob & Margaretha Brengel Trachsel, Hans "Johannes" & Anna Maria "Mary" (maiden name unknown). His second marriage was to Anna M. (Roth-Schreiber).Next is Johannes "Nicholas", married to Catharina Roeder and later to Catharina Hecker. Then comes Peter Troxell, Sr., Solomon, Benjamin Franklin, Clinton and my father, George Troxell. If you want to tell me where you fit into this line, I'd be interested in knowing.

I know this was seven years ago, and I don't know if you are still interested, but I have found Leni Nussbaum's birth and death years, and her parents. Leni was married to Jakob Trachsel(b.1562 in Lenk, Canton Bern- just to remind you(:>)). Leni's birth year was 1563 and she died in 1604- both in Lenk... Her parents were Ulrich Nussbaum(b. 1542 Thuren, Bern, and her mother was Barbara Jaussi (b. 1546 Thuren, Bern) I have no death dates for either. Would you happen to know the "real" set of parents for Margaretha Brengle b. 29 OCT 1654? She is the wife of Jakob Trachsel b. 5 MAR 1652. If you can help, that'd be great!
Holly (hollyn@dol.net )

I have a Jacob Trachsel married to Katherine who lived in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. In 1880 they were living in SugarCreek Twp with children Susan (22), twins Emma & Salone (9), & Malinda (3).
In 1870, they were living in Auburn Twp, (Tuscarawas Co) - dwelling 202. Children listed with them at that time were: Susanna (13), twins Rudolph C. & William S. (6), Melinda E. (4) and Matilda C. (2). (Note the age difference for Malinda/Melinda. Perhaps the Melinda E. that was 4 yrs old in 1870 died, and they named another daughter after her) There is also a Caroline Trachsel (11) living in the Frederic Mauser household (dwelling 208) who I believe may also have been a daughter of Jacob & Elizabeth. It appears that their children often went off to work in other households about that age; William & Rudolph were living in other households at 1880 as was Clara (Matilda C.?).
All their children are shown as being born in Ohio, so they must have immigrated there before 1860; but I haven't been able to find them in that census yet. I believe they had at least 1 more older child - a son, Jacob, & maybe two more daughters.
Please e-mail me if we're researching the same family.

Greetings from Indianapolis.

I hope that somebody reading this is a good detective!!
Two cousins, both named Anna Trachsel married brothers, they all were from Steffisburg, Switzerland (I think ?). Anna Trachsel (1609-1680) married Nicholas Yoder. Anna Trachsel (1607-1666) married Yost Yoder. They all were Amish/Mennonite. Both couples were married on the same day, 10/14/1642; I don't know if it was one ceremony, or different ones. I don't know the parents or families of either of the Anna's. Anna and Yost are the 10'th gr grandparents of both my wife and I. Can any of you help me find the families of these two cousins?

Thanks ahead of time for any help you can give,

Dennis Buerge

Pat,
I believe John B. Troxell is the son of John Troxell
who died in Scott County Kentucky. A part of his will
survived the fire. John of Scott County had a
wife Margaret. John and Margaret appear to have a
son Frederick also. At least in 1803 Frederick
choose his own guardian in Scott County.
