POW/MIA Korean War, TRAHAN

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Acadia Parish, Louisiana as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: DANIEL JOSEPH TRAHAN
Born: October 24, 1926, Black
Date of loss: April 20, 1951, KIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Trahan family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I'm looking for any Trahan connections to my Great Grandmother Matilda Trahan. She married Archie Bedore in 1893 and they lived in Saginaw, Michigan. Archie Bedore was born in Quebec, Canada and Mitilda was born in Saginaw. I'm mainly looking for any info on the Trahan family that Matilda was born into. Who her mother and father were and her brothers and sisters if there were any. You can contact me at bigjohnric@freeality.com

Jean Baptiste Duplechin m. Marie Rose Trahan:

This couple are my paternal gggg grandparents. I am aware that both were previouly married before their marriage on 4 Aug 1794 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.

Jean Baptiste Duplechin died 13 Oct 1812 at age 50 yrs. old. Did Marie Rose Trahan remarry after Jean Baptiste's death???

This question arose for me after finding the following entry on SWLR CD. The entry reads as follows:

TRAHAN, Marie Rose m. Cyrille THIBODEAUX d. 7 Feb. 1842 at age 67 years (Opel. Ch.: v.2, p.28)

As far as I can tell, there are not Marie Rose Trahan's in that time frame.

Will appreciate any input...Thanks, Rita

Not having too much luck figuring what name this family may have used in the US. Moses and Hattie lived in Clinton County NY 1840's thru early1900 (Plattsburgh, Peru, Saranac). Any pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!!

I don't know much about the Trahan branch of my family except that the name is french/cajun/french canadian or similar. My great grandfather's name was Jessie Owen Trahan. He's the farthest back we know of. I know that he lived in the bayous of Louisiana and married Hazel Roberts. Their children were Harvey Trahan (now a resident of Port Arthur Tx.), Jessie Trahan Jr. (deceased) and Glynn Dale Trahan Sr. (my grandfather, also deceased). If anyone is familiar with these names, let me know. It's odd, I've never met any other Trahans and it turns out that there's alot of people with that last name.....all these years of teachers and people misspronouncing it, I never thought it was that common.

Cleomere Trahan (b. Aug 1889)

Hi, I am looking for any information on Cleomere Trahan born in August 1889. He is listed in the 1900 Vermillion Parrish, LA census as being a boarder in the house of Donat Schexneider. I know that through-out his life he used both Trahan and Schexneider as his last name. He married Marie Evicia Broussard (using the Schexneider name). Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Chris Dean

Trahan brothers in Kaplan

I'm looking for information on a Numa Trahan who was the fater of Edier, Didier, John, among others. It seems that there are stories about land that was lost by Numa and his brothers while gambling and that Numa died in a freak accident tied behind his horse sometime in the early 20's. Any information would be quite helpful. My dad was the only one I could ask questions of and he recently died, so all links to the Trahan family in Kaplan have left my side.

I am trying to locate information about a Eugenie Trahan. I do not know when she was born. She married Elie Savoie who was born in 1889. I do know that she had a brother named Charles Ray Trahan who was born July 25, 1928. Their parents were Charles Trahan and Ellen Eve Babin. I have no other dates. I have found evidence that Charles Ray was born in Galveston County in Texas. If anyone has any information, please let me know!

Decendents of "Bud" Sidney Nola Trahan

"Bud" Sidney Trahan (1/26/1908-8/31/1976)
Nola Marie (Fontenot) Trahan (12/6/1911-7/25/1991) married in Neiderland, TX 7/24/1926 and resided in Iowa, Louisiana at the time of their deaths.
Buds' parents were Elais (or pronounced Adious) Josephine Trahan. They also had at least 3 other children into this union: Eugene Trahan, Odis Trahan Olia Trahan. Elais (Adious) was married at least one other time and maybe a third. These unions produced children also. To one such union a child named Homer Trahan was born, he was last known to reside in East TX. At least one other child was born between a union of Elais (Adious) another wife (tho no papers may exist showing this marriage) this child was also named Sidney (one of the Sidney's was pronounced Sid'noa') but over the years that changed. We are not sure of the order in which these unions took place.
Nola's parents were Theodore Fontenot Eloiusine (also spelt Eloizine) (Guillory) Fontenot. Eloiusine was better known as Grandma ZeeZing. In 2/28/1942 Eloiusine married Raymond Deville of Westlake, LA.

Any further info and or documentation would be helpful. You may contact me direct at AntNet1212@aol but be very clear in identifing yourself or I may just delet without reading it. Thanks!
