I am looking for more information on William Traill who married Robina Baird possibly in Auchtermuchty Fife. Their children were John (born 1922 Auchtermuchty) Kaye Mary and Elsie. Robina was the daughter of M S & Catherine Baird.

William & Robina (possibly called Rose)lived in Markinch.

Looking for any descendants or information on the above man who was born c1788 in England. Maybe his baptism is the 1782 one at Swallow Street Scotch Church, Westminster???? However, he married 10 Nov 1809, Ann BOGGS, at Dumbarton, both of this parish. His 11 known children were born up to 1830 and he and 4 of his children are on the 1841 census, but no Ann.
My husband is descended from his daughter, Elizabeth who married Robert LEES and emigrated to South Australia.
Peter's eldest son, Edward, married and spent the 1851 census in prison, but no trace after that.
His eldest daughter, Ann, married Archibald TAYLOR and seems to have cared for some of the younger children. However, no trace after the 1861 census.
Does anyone have any info on this family?

Some form of contact with descendants of Thomas Cathcart Traill pilot? I investigated were born in Latin America pilots flying in the great war.

Captain Anthony Traill was the son of Edmund Trail(l) of Argentina & Devon who in turn is a descendant of the Traill Irish line, which itself descends from the Traill's of Fife, Scotland. His brother was Thomas Cathcart Traill, Air Vice Marshall.
ANTHONY TRAILL
Captain attd. 2nd/4th Bn. , West Yorkshire Regt. (Prince of Wales's Own) who died on Saturday 25 August 1917 . Age 27 .
Son of Edmund Bernard Traill and Gertrude Ann Traill, of Fir Grove, Ottery St. Mary, Devon.

Hello Andrew just started looking into my fathers family tree .His father Thomas Traill 1898c came to Grimsby about 1916/18? from Glasgow, from stories he had lived with an uncle and had a brother called John I believe they had lived on a island in the north of scotland.He marride Margaret Cooper from Aberdeen they had 7 children Thomas,Charles(who was one of the youngest prisoners of war 1939 to 1945 captured at the age of 17 )my dad John 1923-1960 lost of a trawler in icelandic waters Margaret, Kathleen,joyce and Eileen thanks regards janet

No Katrina, I think it means He was killed in the Pas-de-Calais and is buried in Grevillers War Cemetery.

Did 'Pas-de-Calais' mean he came from Calais or just the department he worked in? I think Augusta came from Calais or south of France.

All I have is a testament to him from Buckingham palce signed by King George and on the back is
Grevillers British Cemetery, Pas-de-Calais. Capt Anthony Traill Royal Army Medical Corps.

I think they came from france but cant seem to find any more information, other than their child was born in scotland.

My ancestors came from Blebo and a GGG?? Grandfather, John Traill was the Laird of Blebo. Then one of the Greats went to the Orkney Isles. I want to know more about the Trails of Scotland. If you have time, please email me so we can communicate more. Sharon

I've just learnt my line goes back to James Traill, Laird of Blebo ( in Kemback parish, Fife, Scotland) and his wife Matilda MELVILLE. He was a Lt. Col. in Cromwell's army and had a grandson Robert Trail who became minister of Greyfriar's parish, Edinburgh, Scotland in the 1600's.
Is anyone researching this family?

Thanks for your message. My ancestors of that period were Robert Trail (born 1776) and Mary Hunter. They married in 1809. I do not know about any brothers or sisters of Robert Trail but our family were all born in the Aberdeen area. Note there was only 1 "L" at that time

I recently posted a message with mistaken information given to me. I was requesting information on Walter John Traill I was trying to help out a friend trying to locate information on this man. It has been brought to my attention by a certain Mr or Mrs. Young with an offensive letter sent to the historical society I volunteer at basically stating I know nothing of this gentleman and all my information was basically stupid. I am sorry about this I was trying to help out a friend and I am extremely sorry that this person was so offended on the fact that I was given information that was incorrect. So I appologise for being so misinformed but I thought this is why we have message boards to find out the correct information and share such information with each other not to be demeaned by such people.. Sorry for the inconvienience for requesting information on this matter Mr or Mrs Young you could have written your letter to our society without being rude and insulting on my behalf. Next time I look for information on someones behalf maybe i should send it to you to proof since you know everything. I am about the 7th generation decendent of Mr. Ben James Traill who sailed in the port of Levuka, Fiji Islands as an Admaral on a War Ship in the early Colonial years when Fiji was under the British Empire. As long as I remember, I was always told by my elders that Mr. Ben J Traill was from somewhere in Scotland.

I am happy I found this site and excited to know how far and how long the Traill family existed. I just migrated to Portland, Oregon from Fiji in June 2002 and would like to know more on the Traill family.... so my email address in kainewtown @aol.com....
