Perry Lee Trammell

I am looking for information on my grandfather and his ancestors/decendants. I have very limited information about him. He was born approx. 1901 in AR. He was married to Lottie Hampton 4-1-1927. His children from that marriage were Dollie Jean (1928) and Perry Lee Jr. (1929). Perry Jr. is my father. My grandparents were divorce when my father was very young and both remarried. My grandfather had no further contact with his children from this marriage. It is thought that my grandfather had more children with his next wife. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Searching for any info on Lula Zimmerman-Trammell; she had 3 sons Walter, Clarence & Samuel. Their father is said to have been named Jack & spent his later years in the Stone Mountain area. I cannot locate any "Jack" Trammell in any census records. I have located a Charlie Trammell in the census of 1910 that lived a few doors down from my ggrandmother, Lula. Perhaps this is the elusive Jack I have been searching for. Could any provide any info on Lula & her sons. Also, info on Charlie Trammell would be wonderful. In the 1910 census he was counted in the household of his brother, Lee - Lee's wife Hattie & their son, Bob Lee.

I'm trying to find a relatively clean source of information on this gent. I've found a ton of gedcoms out there with his name on it, but it's often references to references from other gedcoms, so it's hard to say how good the data is. Does anybody have a suggestion on a solid place to go for reliable (and relatively clean) Trammell data? I just hate to download 8 million gedcoms and then compare and contrast skipped generations and same names, ending up with a bigger mess than I have now.

Thanks,
Klint Kendrick
klintck@yahoo.com

Augustus Glenn Trammell & Rebecca Duke

Does anyone have some information regarding the descendants of Gus and Rebecca Trammell?

I saw several old postings of Jody Trammell Nailler about this family, but her email address no longer works.

In one of the messages, it was mentioned that she was a descendant of Augustus Glenn Trammell and Rebecca Duke and Gus' year of death being 1884. Does anyone have a location and burial info for Gus? What about Rebecca?

I need a complete listing of their children....or as complete as possible. I have only found 3 children from the 1880 census where they were in Tenn.: Willie, Minnie, and Tudor. I found Tudor in later censuses in Jefferson County, AL and Marshall County, AL, but can't pin down the others after 1880. I'm trying to confirm or reject the possibility that my Trammell connection alines with them.

I finally found Gus' conviction (involuntary manslaughter) for shooting and killing his brother, Van B. in Rome, GA while drunk, but don't know whether he served the time on the chain gang or paid the $500 plus costs. Does anyone know? That was in 1879. Also, does anyone know where, between 1870 and 1879, they were? The 1880 census indicates that the first 2 children, Willie and Minnie, were born in Arkansas....but where and how long were they there?

My potential connection hinges on understanding their whereabouts and circumstances between 1879 and their deaths (Augustus and Rebecca).

Thanks,
Tami

I'm trying to find out any information about my grandmother Susan E Trammell. She was born somewhere in Missouri around 1887 and later lived in Kansas City through the 1920s and in Richards in the 1930s.

I know of another Susan E Trammell who was born in 1891 in Webster County, Missouri, married a Mr. Rafferty and died in 1927. This Susan is not my grandmother as she died in 1963.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Margaret Trammell b. abt 1832 KY m: James Bell b. abt 1805 VA living Livingston Co. MO

My 3rd great-grandmother is Margaret Trammell b. abt 1832 in KY married James Bell b. abt 1805 VA. Probably married in Livingston Co. MO by 1849. Both referenced below as well as what I believe could be kin to Margaret.

Online at Ancestry.com is the Book - “History of Livingston Co. from The History of Caldwell & Livingston Counties, Missouri 1886, I found the following:
Chapter 5 titled From 1850 to 1861 California Gold Rush…”

“...Other Livingston county "49ers" were John Trammell, James Trammell, and "Buena Vista" Bell, who started from "the forks" and made the trip to the land of gold in wagons drawn by five yoke of cows. With this outfit was one lady, the wife of James Bell.”

James and Margaret Bell are found in the 1860 census of Livingston Co. MO with 4 children, 2 born in CA, 2 born in MO. Margaret is widowed in 1862 and from another source supposed to have married twice more (1) to a Elisha B. Sneed in 1863 and then to (2) to a John Carver. But I can't confirm this and I haven't found her in the later censuses. Nor can I find the children except the George, Charles and Katie as adults and married.

Margaret (and children) are listed in James Bell's probate record filed in Livingston Co as well as deeds filed. They sold some Yuba Co. CA property in 1853 and recorded the sale in Livingston Co. MO.

Children are:
Son George F. Bell b. abt 1851 in CA moved to Parker Co. TX by 1880 census. Married (1) Julia Cooper 1873, divorced abt 1875/6. (2) Clemintine, nee unknown, in TX by 1880.

Son Charles Vincent Bell b. abt 1854 in CA married Rebecca Carrie Brown 1876 in Livingston Co. Was in Lafayette Co. MO for 1880 census. Died 1892 in Livingston Co. MO (My gggrandfather)

Dau Mary Catherine (Katie) Bell b. abt 1856 in MO married John M Vaughn abt 1872. died 1947 in Livingston Co. It is her death certificate viewable online (Link at at MO Secretary of State website) that I found Margaret's maiden name spelled Tramell.

Dau Permelia Bell b. abt 1859.

Any more information or family out there?

Denise Simmons

I know this is a long shot, but I am looking for a man named Benjamin Trammel. My father, James Cole was born in Tennesse in Feb of 1957. My grandmother told me that she met a man in or around Elizabethton in Carter Co. Tennesse and, you know, 9 mo. later my dad was born. My grandmother was born in 1934, so maybe Benjamin was about the same age?

I really do not have any more information other than that. I am not even sure if he is alive or dead. I know he knows about my dad, because my dad has an old card from him. Any help would be great. I would really like to find out more about him.

Sampson Trammells in Early 1800s Kentucky

Need help sorting out ancestry lines and/or any information on the several Sampson Trammells in the late 1700s and early 1800s in Kentucky.

Firstly, The Sampson Trammell on Warren Co Ky in 1810 and thereafter on records in Allen Co. Ky from 1815 to 1835. On Warren Co. 1810 census as age 26-45 and 1820 in Allen Co. Ky age over 45; 1830 age 60-70. Last record is a court record dated 1835. I believe this is my gggggrandfather, but no idea who his father was. His census ages indicates he was born about 1765 - 1770. He is living next door to John Trammell on the 1820 census.

Secondly, Sampson Trammell on the 1790 tax list in Sumner Co. TN listed with Phillip Trammell.

Thirdly, Sampson Trammell who died before Feb, 1811 in Stewart Co, TN and County Bonds and Settlements 8 Aug 1812 show a guardian bond by William Pryor, James Pryor, Jesse Denson for his orphan children: Edith, Isabella, Jarrett, James & Jacob Hollingsworth Trammell.

Forthly, Sampson Trammell in Clay Co, KY census of 1810 over age 45. This seems to be the Sampson in Rev. War Pension Files applying for a pension 22 Oct 1832 at age 82 in Clay Co. Ky. His widow Susan's application in 1851 shows that he died in Indiana 28 Mar 1838. Other info on the pension says he was the son of Daniel Trammell (1707-1777)

And Lastly, Sampson Trammell, father of Burke and James Trammell, is noted in an affidavit done in Arkansas 20 Apr 1852 for proof of heirship of Dennis Trammell for a claim of the property of Burke and James In Texas. States Sampson is deceased and that Burke and James were his only children and they resided with their uncle David who was also deceased at the time of the affidavit. Burke is shown as age 26 on the list of Alamo Defenders making him born about 1810.

Any info on the ancestry of any of these would be greatly appreciated.
Gerrard (Jarott) and Phillip Trammell Tramel Trammel

I'm trying to sort out the Gerrard (Jarott) & Phillip Trammells. I have a Gerrard Trammell m: Barsaha Young in abt. 1799 Logan KY and their daughter Mary Polly Trammell married William Green Jr. in 1822 Hamilton IL. QUESTION: I'm wondering what their connection is to Phillip Trammell brn 1770 that m: Sarah Young and had son Gerrard and grandson Leonard Phillip and resided in Arkansas? I beleive they are cousins, but how? These Arkansas Trammells filed for Cherokee enrollment claiming relations to the Foreman and Bushyheads.

Trammells of Tennessee
The Trammell’s I am descended from were from Tennessee. The first one I know for sure is John William Trammell born March 12, 1837 in TN. He died November 16, 1883 in Kaufman County, Texas. He married Martha Elizabeth Liles born August 19, 1833, died July 20, 1890. She is also buried in Kaufman County. I have pictures of their graves in Elmo Cemetery. They were married May 22, 1859 in Lawrence County, TN.

Their children were:
David. M. b. between 1860-1861 m. J.E. Ballard
John Wesley (see below)
Francis Elizabeth b. May 6,1866, m. T. P. Lemay d. March 15, 1891
William Houston b. bet. 1867-1868 m. Sarah E. Doigg
Ulysses b. bet. 1873-1874 m. Frannie Triplett, d. October 1950

My gg grandfather was John Wesley Trammell born March 5, 1862 in Mobile, Alabama. He married Doshie Lee Edwards born November 15, 1867. They married November 25, 1886 in Kaufman County, Texas. John Wesley died May 9, 1937 and Doshie died December 19, 1952. They are buried in Harmon County, OK. I have pictures of them also.

I have more on their descendents, but am looking for John William Trammell’s parents. I have been told his father is John Trammell and his mothers’ name was Delilah born 1808. I cannot find any proof of this, or any more information on them.

Any help greatly appreciated!
Nathaniel Trammel(l) son of Nicholas

My husband's great, greatgrandmother was Missouri Trammel or Trammell b. Mar 6, 1859, in Gonzales County, TX. Her father was Nathaniel Trammel, son of Nicholas and Sarah? In the 1860 Gonzales County census, it lists the following: Trammel, N. 53; his wife Elizabeth, 30; the following children - Elizabeth 13, Mary 11, Nancy 9, Rebecca 7, Harriet 4, Indiana 3, Missouri 2. It then lists J. Davidson 22 and F. Sawyer 11. Several sources on the internet and in a book list Nathaniel's wife's name as Elizabeth or Eliza Lindsey, yet my mother-in-law who is still living says Elizabeth's maiden name was Davidson. This is somewhat supported by a J. Davidson living with them. Could he have been a brother possibly helping with the farm? Does anyone know where evidence of of the surname Lindsey came from? Thanks for any information you might have. Joan

Elizabeth Trammel Fisher in Tennesse and Illinois

I am searching for information on Elizabeth Trammel, who was born abt. 1811 in Tennessee. She married Jason Fisher, most likely in Tennessee, and then moved to Illinois about 1839. Jason appears to have died before the 1860 census, but I have been unable to locate this family on the 1850 census. Their youngest child was born in Feb. of 1851 in Illinois, so believe he must have been alive for the 1850 census. Elizabeth is listed on the 1860 census living in Franklin County, Illinois with several of her children: Jason, Elizabeth, Henry, James, Nancy, and Paradine. Believe she might have had older children as well: William and Thomas, but have not definitely proved this as yet. Any information that anyone has on any of these individuals would be most appreciated!

Does anyone know about Elisha Trammell listed in Newton County, Georgia, in the 1830 census and/or Elisha Trammell in Wilkes County, Georgia, in the 1820 census and the 1824 tax list? I think this may be the same person and perhaps my ancestor.

I'm trying to find the father of my ancestor Elisha J. Trammell (c.1811-1871). From the mid-1840's until his death he lived in Panola County, Mississippi. In census records his state of birth is given as Georgia. He married Martha E. Bishop, probably in 1844 in Russell County, Alabama. Martha's father David Bishop was also living in Newton County, Georgia, in 1830.

Tom Trammell, A Mystery

Here is a good family mystery, and we all have one of these. My grandfather Tom, used the surname of Marshall when he married my Grandmother, Vallie Lee Colston/Coulston, in Dyer Tennessee, so the folklore says (she is deceased. I'll assume Tom is also). My cousins remember Vallie telling them that Tom ran off and left her and her two sons when they were young. After time, she filed for a divorce, and received information that his real last surname was Trammell. One of Vallie's son's, my dad, Elton,(deceased), I have his birth certif, where Tom signed in as Tom Marshall, and lists his birth place as Ozark County, MO. A recent conversation with a cousin states that a while after the divorce, Tom visited my dad when he was probably around 10-12 years old, and brought with him two Cherokee Indian Aunts from Oklahoma. (a picutre of that visit has surfaced of Tom which I have). The best I can figure from my dad's birth certif who was born in 1920, Tom lists his age on that document as 28 years old, which would make Tom's year of birth 1892. It is rumored that in Tom's adult life after he left his family, he worked in a California ship yard. Looking for Tom's life, roots and ancestory is a sure needle in a hay stack. So, if any of this strikes a cord in your Trammell history, please let me know. Kindest Regards.

Trammell's in Calhoun County Alabama

I am looking for any information on my great-grandmother and her family. They were from Calhoun County and the 1860 & 1880 census has her family in Peeks Hill. My ggrandmother's name was Fannie Elizabeth Trammell (m. Hudgens). Her mother was Nancy E. Trammell and her grand parents were David and Martha (or Betsy) Trammell. I'm not sure of where any of them were born.

In one of the census the last name is spelled Tramil, but the marriage license and the other census it's spelled Trammell.

Does anyone have any information on this family? It would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Looking for info on the Trammells that were on the 1850 Union County, SC Census. I'm specifically looking for more info on my ancestor, William T. Trammell, who was born about 1814 in South Carolina, and died in Cherokee Co, AL after 1880. William is on the 1850 Union County census, and then moved to Cherokee Co, AL in 1860. There is also a Levi Trammell listed on both census. Anyone know if these two were brothers, and who their father was? There was a Jared Trammell on the 1850 census, who was born about 1773. Could this possibly be their father? Thanks for any info!!
I just found your message on Genforum dated 7/16/2004. James H Jones and Eliza Trammell are my great-great grandparents. According to your message, you have a lot of information on them. I would be interested in knowing what you have.
I just found James and Eliza listed in the 1850 Cobb Co, GA, census and noticed that he is listed as being born in Kentucky. Do you have any information on who his parents were? I found a James Jones, Jr, listed in the Fayette Co., GA census in 1840. He is listed as being between 20/30 which would be the right dates for him to have been born in 1811.

I have found Eliza Trammell and her father Thomas Tramel as early as 1840 in Fayette Co., Ga. Thomas is listed as having a daughter the right age for Eliza. I do have a copy of the estate appraisal for James H. Jones when he died and Bilington Trammel is listed as helping Eliza get the estate clear.

I also found census records showing Eliza and children living in Calhoun Co., Ala. James H. died 1858, I have copy of his will and estate settlement papers.

The informant (her brother-in-law) was very hard of hearing according to a grand-daughter Nelda FARRIS LAWRENCE of El Paso then Az(2001)

Aug 2001 Letter from Dorothy Roberts Tucker,Delaware,Ark
"...I remembered hearing Grandma Mary Jane and her sister Aunt Tennessee talking about their mother marrying a man named Henderson and they didn't get to live together but a short time he was killed in a hunting [accident]."

Another letter from her:
"Malachi's mother may have been a BOX of Indian ancestry. Louisa's mother and baby brother are buried in the Indian Cemetary on River Mtn Rd (Vernon Mtn)(near Mary Jane Underwood Roberts homestead property) in Delaware,Logan Co,Ark. Others buried there (36 or 37 total) are VERNON/BOX/HENDERSON of Indian ancestry."
An archeological dig was begun there in 2000 or 2001.

I am looking for more info on her parents and siblings.

Trammell - Morse

Some of you may already know about this but for those who don't, here's an alert to an article that appeared in the June 2004 issue of the "National Genealogical Society Quarterly". It's a genealogy of the rather scandalous family of Harvey (Harve) Morse of Pope Co., Illinois. It's titled "A Solid Gang of Them: An Illinois Morse-Trammell Family's Reactions to Scandal" by Thomas W. Jones, Ph.D., CG, CGL. Harvey Morse was married to Minerva Trammell and had 6 children. He ALSO had 3 children by his wife's sister-in-law (Susan Russell Trammell) and 8 children by the sister-in-law's daugher Eliza Trammell, and 7 more children with the sister-in-laws other daughter Manervia Trammell!! A total of 24 children by 4 women (6 legitimate and 18 illigitimate). It's a very confusing story as all 4 women have the Trammell name and their childrens' names are all over the place. The article appears to be well researched (it has 78 footnotes). It's a fascinating story. Some of the names in the article are: Susan Russel Trammell, Sarah Trammell, Jackson Trammell, Willis Trammell, Elen Trammell, Susan Morse, Oliver Trammell, Laura Trammell, Richard Morse, Will M. Trammell, Alice, Edna, Cynthia Trammell, Lucinda Trammell, India Isabel Trammell, John Henry Trammell, Joseph Luther Trammell, Martha Trammell, May Ann Trammell, James Trammell, Harry Morse, Hurbert Trammell, John G. Castles, Edmund Foster, Robert McMurray, Philip Trammell.

I am searching for information about Melvina Trammell Lay. She married Calvin Lay. I am looking for relatives on the Trammell side of the family. Some I am told moved to Oklahoma in the early 1900's. If any one has anyinformation please contact me at regina_b_w@hotmail.com Melvina resided in Tennessee her whole life as far as I can determine. Thank you to anyone who can help.
