DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Staff Sgt. Du Hai Tran, 30, of Reseda, Calif., died Jun. 20 in Baqubah, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his unit while on patrol during combat operations. He was assigned to the Fires Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.

Nam was born in 1968/1969. He is about 33-34 years old. He had a good friend named Duc Nguyen, a thin man who had a large mole under his chin.

Nam could be anywhere in the US now, particularly in the NE area around NJ, Conn., NH, etc. He may also have remained in Houston or Phoenix, Dallas or Ft. Worth.

I'm searching for this gentleman. I last saw him in Houston, Texas in 1988 where he lived with his father and brother on Elliott St. I met him in Phoenix, AZ. His mother was not in the US. I think she passed away in Vietnam. Tran is of Vietnamese and Chinese decent.

Quoc Binh Tran, 26, of Mission Viejo, Calif., died Nov. 7 in Baghdad, Iraq, from wounds sustained that same day when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle while he was conducting convoy operations. Tran was assigned to the Army National Guard’s 181st Support Battalion, San Bernardino, Calif.
