Hello I was just skimming the boards and found your post hoping maybe you still come and check for replies. I too come from the family of Timothy Steady with the names of Stebbins and Estey and my grandfather and his siblings talk about our last name having been Transquil. I don't have much info but would be interested in exchanging what I know.

Does any one know of any Steady's in Vermont that left Canada into Vermont and changed their name from Transquill to Steady.

It is rumored that there was a falling out in the family and the name change is the result.

Any help in this matter, is greatly appreciated.
