William TRAVERS, b. abt 1827 d. 1895 Ormstown, Quebec

My gg grandfather William Travers was married to Charlotte Gardner and had the following children:

Ema 1852, Thomas 1853, Anne 1856, William V. 1858, Robert 1860, Richard 1861, John 1864, Charlotte 1865, Wilhelmina 1867, James 1869

He had his family and lived his life in Ormstown, Quebec, Canada. I cannot find any information relating to his father/mother. Can anyone out there help?

Mary Conley Traverse (daughter Eleanor)

Mary Conley married an unknown Traverse, had Eleanor Traverse (I loose track of Eleanor after this); then Mary Conley-Traverse marries Charles M. Garner in 1861 in NY (waiting for his Civil War file to get here to see if it says anything) they had two children Harriet born in 24 November 1863, and Albert born Circa 1862-64. Charles died while in service during the Civil War in Salisbury Prison, NC on 24 December 1864 of Malnutrition. Mary, Harriet and Albert moved to Michigan between 1864 and 1868; Mary married Mortimer Hilliker on 29 March 1868 in Dryden, Lapeer County, MI. Then I find them with Mortimer in the 1870 Census, all with the last name of Hilliker. In the 1880 Census I can not find Mary or Harriet, Albert is in NY with an uncle, Lillian is with Mortimer's parents Joseph & Emily. Then I found Harriet marriage record to James G. Neff 3 Jul 1880 in Dryden, Lapeer County, MI. I found Lillian (or Lillie)'s marriage to a Guy Sherman on 30 Sept. 1899 in Lapeer, Lapeer County, MI; He married 2 more times after that marriage so I don't know what happen to Lillie. It's after 1870 to Harriet's marriage that I can not find where Harriet is or Mary is?

Married Elijah WEDGE about 1808 in New York. His father married in New York City.

I believe the Mortimer Theodore Travers(e) you mention is actually the son of Thomas Travers, spouse of Margrette Hinton. Thomas was born in 1927, immigrated to Wisconsin with family and then on to Minnesota. His sister, Elizabeth Travers Decker is my great-grandmother. She married James Decker of Cape Vincent, Jefferson Co., New York and moved with family to Adams County, WI near her brother.Wish to share information.

Traverse Links - MA, MD and DE

Does anyone have an extensive Traverse family genealogy tree covering MA, MD and DE? It appears that many of the MA, MD and DE families are related. In particular, I am looking for a David Davis Traverse born in 1864. He is listed differently in each three census years and not at all in three others. He raised his family in Cecil county Maryland. Some of them are buried in Townsend Delaware. He may have originated from MA, son of Charles (b. 1828) & Elizabeth (B 1838) but I cannot prove that. His death certificate says he was born in Ireland and the census of course say he was born in MD or MA.

David Davis Traverse

I'm looking for information on David Davis Traverse. He was born on 8/1/1864 in Dublin. He died on 1/23/1949, and is burined in Townsend Cematary in Delaware. He was married to Martha E. Traverse. All I know is they had at least one child, Mary Hester Traverse (1904 to either 1988 or 1979).

I am looking Traverse from Maryland. My great grandfather was David David Traverse. He was born in 1864 or 1884. MD census for 1890 an d1900 do not exist so it is difficult to track him down. My mother's deceased father's name was David Dominick *********. David was born ca 1886 in South Dakota. He migrated to Midland, TX and married a woman named Dorothy Kathryn LEE ca. 1927. David and Dorothy had two daughters. David died ca. 1931 after a horse fell on him that he was breaking.

My mother mentioned to me that a person named Pandora ********* had corresponded with her about a possible relationship.

Mr. Travers(i)e was born ca.1889 in Nebraska. Mr. Travers(i)e migrated to Texas and married Dorothy Kathryn LEE ca.1924 in Midland, TX. Dorothy bore Mr. Travers(i)e two daughters. Mr. Travers(i)e worked as a Ranch Foreman in the Midland County and Martin County area. Mr. Travers(i)e died ca. 1931 in Midland County or Martin County. after a horse that he was breaking fell on him. TRAVERS(I)E may be buried in either Midland County or Martin County.

Dorothy Travers(i)e remarried a man whose last name was LOGSDON. Dorothy Kathryn LOGSDON passed away ca.1965 (plus or minus 5 years) in Midland, TX.

My last name is Travers and we are from maryland. in the late 1700s or early 1800s the "e" was dropped from Traverse. To become Travers. We there are john wesley Travers and some info can be found at the Dorchester County Genealogy Magazine web site

Mt Travis family came from Delaware. When they lived in Delaware they spelled their name Traverse but when they moved to Phila., PA the name was changed to Travis.

Am looking for information related to Thomas Traverse, b. 1825 in Ireland, m. Mary McGovern, also from IRE. Unclear when they came to US, but at least by 1849, likely Monroe County, NY. Had nine kids (yikes!) Annie, b. 1849, Julia 1852, John 1856, Burnett 1858, James 1860, Hugh 1861, Catherine 1863 and Mary Elizabeth 1865. 1870 NY Census places them in Jefferson Townhip, Hillside, MI. I have come across some old papers of my late fathers. The info I have is James Traverse born 1804 married Ester 1807. They had 6 children, Henry 1832 Harriet 1837-1909, Edward 1840, William 1844, Rebecca 1853, Nancy E. 1854. I'm not sure were they came from but my G G grandmother was Harriet Traverse who married William Scarlett McLean, he was involved with Great Lakes shipping in Wallaceburge, Ont.

I am looking for information on Mortimer Theodore Traverse. He was born on 26 Feb. 1827 in or near the area of Brockville, Ont. Canada. He was orphaned at about 14 yrs of age and married Margarette Maria Hinton in Racine, WI. on the 12th of Dec. 1852. It is believed that he had either four or five siblings. One of his married sisters lived in the Brockville area until at least into the late 1870's

yes the traversie name was a "dit" name, originally was langlois, the langlois were among the first settlers of quebec coming from france. I am sure that the name has changed spellings many times. The langlois dit Traversy(Traversie) family inter-married with native peoples such as Micmac, Iroquios, Huron, Abenaki, and Sioux. my email........
