TREDWAY ROOTS--MD

Surnames: TREDWAY, NORRIS, SCOTT
In "History of the Tredway Family" by William T. Tredway there are two "theories" re: the beginnings of the family in MD. One is Crispin (father John dying at sea) immigrating to Harford Co., MD. The other is Richard and Thomas migrating from New England to Harford Co. also. I am confused. Anyone have any opinions on this?
