Hi, I am researching the Treece family of Walker County Alabama. I noticed you mentioned a David and Clemmie Treece of Walker county Alabama. They are my Great-grandparents! Their son Hurlon Lou Treece married Margret Lucille Dean of Arkansas. They were my grand parents. Their son Lonnie Gene Treece married Helen Elaine Hurst. They are my parents.
I am delighted to find someone with more history on the Treece's. I do not have much information on them because we live in Arkansas and never visited Alabama much. I would glady share any information that I have with you. If you have any more information I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance. Hanna Mae Treece

I would like to ask for an invite to the Treece website too.

I am trying to fill in my ancestors from the Pettis/Saline Counties in Missouri on up. My ggrandfater was James Thomas Treece and I have a loose link to his potential father George W. who I think was the son of John H.

My patched-together line is as follows:

Greg Treece (me) Marshall, Mo. 1958, son of
George Treece (1935-1998) [and Margorie Cloud], son of
George Treece (1885-1966) [and Goldie King], son of
James Thomas Treece (1854-1930) [and Mary Sleeper], son of
(guesswork starts here)
George W Treece (1827-?) [and Lizzie Nelson], son of
Jacob H Treece (1786-1872) [and Alberty Fances], son of
John Peter Treece (1765-1853) [and Mary Eller], son of
Jacob Treece (1755-?) [and Elizabeth Fritchley].

I can provide info on James Thomas down, but can use some good help from James Thomas up.

Thanks! gtreece@bigfoot.com

Re: John Andrew Treece

Thomas Augustus b. 1828 NC, married Elizabeth Brown, b 2 Sep 1844. Thomas' father was Jacob Treece, born abt 1784 in Pa. He died 29 Jan 1872 in Pettis Co., MO. He married Franziska Alberti b. 30 Sep 1797 in NC and died 28 Aug 1894 in Pettis Co., The father of Jacob was Michael Treece, born 13 Jan 1754 in Northampton Co., PA. He died 22 Sep 1841 in Jefferson Co., TN. Jacob's mother is uncertain. At his death Michel's widow applied for and received a pension for his service in the Revolution on behalf of the colonies. He allegedly served under a general named Washington. Sometime after the war he moved to NC and then on to eastern TN where he lived out his life. The application is available from most Treece researchers and you can ask for it and someone will send it to you. No one to my knowledge has figured out with certainty who Michael's parents were. Recently Mary Lou Treece Clegg has been the force behind several male Treeces have their DNA taken and traced. We are all related but the one Treece who descended from Michael who lives in TN. Look at the Treece family web site for that information. Bob Treece

POW/MIA Korean War, TREECE

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Polk County, Oregon as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: WILLIAM ALBERT TREECE
Born: 1932
Date of loss: July 27, 1950 MIA
Service # RA18351494
B Co 29th Inf Rgt, 24th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Treece family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
