I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Polk County, Oregon as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Born: 1932
Date of loss: July 27, 1950 MIA
Service # RA18351494
B Co 29th Inf Rgt, 24th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Treece family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Velma M. Treece, 91, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, at Jonesboro Rehab and Healthcare Center.
She was born Sept. 12, 1915, in Wolf Lake, Ill., daughter of William and Ada Crowell Bright. She and Curtis L. Treece were married Dec. 22, 1932, in Jonesboro. He died Aug. 15, 1983.
Survivors include three daughters, Helen Frick of Jonesboro, Lillian Sadler of Ware, Ill., Wilma Loveless of Dongola, Ill.; a son, Curtis Treece of Jonesboro; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, two brothers and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Hart officiating. Burial will be in Kelley Cemetery.

Thurman Alden Treece, 67, of Center Ridge, died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006.
He was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Shirley, a son of Doyle Treece and Hazel Huggins Treece. He was a heavy equipment operator and of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, La Dawn (Patterson) Treece of Center Ridge; four sons, Thurman A. Treece of Alabama; Dewayne Corbus, Doyle Corbus and Vernon Corbus, all of California; one daughter, Kathryn Beck of Center Ridge; four brothers, Johnny Treece and Jimmy R. Treece, both of Missouri; Garner Treece of Mountain View; Dwayne Treece of Shirley; two sisters, Nina Padgett of Shirley and Ganell Treece of Danville; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Harris Chapel with Bro. Dwight Scott officiating. Arrangements were by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton.

Cecil Joseph Treece, 87, of Hatton, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center. He was born July 6, 1919, in southern Missouri, the son of the late Daniel Boone and Rozella (Hoystclaw) Treece. On Jan. 7, 1937, in New Madrid, he was united in marriage to Edna Marie (Edwards) Treece who preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Dale Treece of Hatton; one daughter, Margaret Gromer of Columbia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, one son Donald Treece and a sister, Eldeana Chiles preceded him in death.
Mr. Treece worked as a farmer and was a member of the Rising Sun Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and gardening.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas, Fulton.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006, at Rising Sun Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Palmer and Rev. Charles Brown officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Hatton.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rising Sun Baptist Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd., Fulton, Mo. 65251.

They are two different Amanda's !!!!!!!!

I am trying to find anyone who knows anything about the Treece family in Kitanning or Ford City. I am having trouble with this due to possible seclusion of the family or perhaps due to their poor status in the community. I have tried contacting numerous genealogists and they never return my contact. I don't care what their situation was, I would just like to know if any are still there, or did the family die out? The only one I remember my mother mentioning was Ruby. My grandfather was Thomas Robert Treece. His father's name was Henry I think.

I was recently at the PRO in London looking up my great grandfather Samuel Treece.He was in the Royal Horse Artillery in the Boer War.On my visit I looked through records of men who left the army between 1900 and 1913.I found my great grandfather Samuel Treece and was really pleased with finding his records.
While looking I found one other Treece this man was one Ernest Treece who signed up in Derby UK but I think came from Nottingham.
So if this man is related to you his records are in WO 97 section 6101.

He is survived by his wife, Ellen Marie Crawford; three sons, Charles Treece of Calico Rock, Jerry Treece of Cabot and Steven Treece of Bradford; one daughter, Catherine Leasure of Hickory, N.C.; 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto Aarron Treece and Mary Burns Treece; one daughter, Joyce Hendricks; four brothers; two sisters; and a granddaughter, LeAnna Treece.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Bald Knob-Judsonia. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 1, from 6-8 p.m.

ANNA, Ill. -- Zelma Ruth Treece, 80, of Anna died at 2:08 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2002, at Union County Hospital in Anna.
She was born Oct. 26, 1921, at Jonesboro, Ill., daughter of John and Mary Lacy Rhodes. She was married to Tyrus R. Treece. He died in 1947.
Treece was a member of the Mount Moriah Lutheran Church in Anna, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Anna and was retired from the Choate Mental Health Center in Anna.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Webb of Jonesboro; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two grandchildren.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Rick Hertenstein officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery, north of Anna.

Connie Virginia Treece, 70, of Caruthersville, Mo., died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at the Dyersburg Regional Medical Center at Dyersburg, Tenn.
Born Jan. 2, 1936, at Steele, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Otwon and Mildred Dooley Cobb. She was a member of the Church of God at Caruthersville and had served as an election judge for many years in Pemiscot County.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Jerry Cobb.
On Sept. 23, 1954, she married Ray H. Treece Sr. at Hernando, Miss., who survives.
Other survivors include one son, Harold Treece and wife, Donna, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Connie Fullhart and husband, David, of Caruthersville; four grandchildren, Matthew and Tyler Fullhart of Caruthersville, Stuart Treece, of Caruthersville, and Amber Treece, of Springfield; an one sister, Shirley Cobb, of Memphis, Tenn.
The funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at the Church of God at Caruthersville with the Rev. Glyn Davis officiating.
Burial followed at the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.
Pallbearers were Matt Fullhart, Tyler Fullhart, Stuart Treece, Chris Cobb, Greg Turnbow, and Brad Treece.

Doyle Andrew Treece, 90, of Clinton died Friday, January 21, 2005. He was born March 16, 1914 in Van Buren County to the late John and Jane Delk Treece. He was retired, and had been employed at the Clinton processing plant and in other jobs. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his children, Thurman Treece of Center Ridge, John Treece of Holiday, MO, Nina Padgett of Shirley, Jimmy R. Treece of Sedalia, MO, Garner Treece of Mountain View, Dwayne Treece of Shirley and Ganell Treece of Belleville, 20 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives.
Services were held Tuesday, January 25 at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Ester Bass officiating. Interment was at Weaver Cemetery by Roller-McNutt of Clinton.
Pallbearers included Roger Holden, Billy Treece, Billy Carl Treece, Marvin White, Ernie Sowell, Darrell Allen, Olas Allen and Doug Delk.

Born June 24, 1937, in Wynnburg, Tenn., son of the late Jack and Mayme Warren Treece, he was a farmer and a member of the Dew Drop Independent Baptist Church in Lane, Tenn.
On Feb. 18, 1967, in Bridgeman, Mich., he married Glenda Murphy, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Anthony Bernard Rollins, of Ripley, Tenn.; one brother, Ray Treece and wife, Connie, of Caruthersville, Mo.; three sisters, Mararet Lambert and husband, Allen, and Carolyn Standley, all of Ripley, and Nora Mauldin and husband, Benny, of Oakville, Mo.; one step-grandson, Anthony Eugene Rollins, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and a step-granddaughter, Crystal Roxanne Lathams, of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Cowan; two brothers, Billy Earl and Roy Treece and one step-grandson, Ray Lynn Lathams.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Hayti, Mo. with Bros. Marvin Wilson and Jimmy Goodman officiating.
Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery at Caruthersville.

William Emmett "Bill" Treece, 90, of Windsor, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, at Windsor Healthcare and Rehabilitation.
He was born June 5, 1916, in Cuba, Mo., a son of Herbert Henry and Minnie Belle Dueker Treece.
On June 24, 1939, in Chamois, he was married to Elsie Marie Emerick Treece, who died on March 29, 1994.
Mr. Treece was a farmer and self-employed for more than 20 years, owning and operating a gasoline filling station.
He also did welding and mechanical work on cars and trucks.
As a child, he loved playing pitch.
Later he enjoyed reading Western novels, hunting, fishing and trapping.
Surviving are a son, Vernon Treece, of Windsor; two daughters, Jeana Eckhoff, of Cole Camp, and Billie Wheeler, of Elsberry; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clint Treece, of Rackett; and a sister, Anna LouBelle Welliver, of Windsor.
He was also predeceased by three brothers, Clarence Treece, Louis Treece and Walter Treece.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Hadley Funeral Home in Windsor, with the Rev. Elmer Brown officiating.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Hickory Point Cemetery in rural Green Ridge.
The family suggests contributions to the Hickory Point Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Cecil Joseph Treece, 87, of Hatton, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Boone Hospital Center. He was born July 6, 1919, in southern Missouri, the son of the late Daniel Boone and Rozella (Hoystclaw) Treece. On Jan. 7, 1937, in New Madrid, he was united in marriage to Edna Marie (Edwards) Treece who preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 2005.
Survivors include one son, Dale Treece of Hatton; one daughter, Margaret Gromer of Columbia; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, one son Donald Treece and a sister, Eldeana Chiles preceded him in death.
Mr. Treece worked as a farmer and was a member of the Rising Sun Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and gardening.

ANNA, Ill. -- Donald D. Treece, 71, of Anna died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Union County Hospital.
He was born June 13, 1935, in Anna, son of Jerome and Lova Vaughn Treece. He and Carolyn Earnhart were married Oct. 7, 1961, in Perks, Ill.
Treece was retired from the power plant at Choate Mental Health Center. He was a member of Anna Heights Baptist Church, member of American Legion Post 91 in Wyoming, Ill., many years, member of Anna Elks Lodge 1641 and Anna Moose Lodge 1346.
He served in the U.S. Army from March 1958 to March 1960.
He is survived by his wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
Friends may call at Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, Ill., from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Dr. John Earnhart, a nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Dongola American Legion Cemetery, with military rites to be conducted by Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.

She was born March 28, 1933, near Anna, daughter of Charles Ford and Anna Hubach Cates. She and Kenneth C. Treece were married June 18, 1951, at Jonesboro, Ill.
Treece was a caregiver for Home Health Care. She was a member of the Anna Church of the Nazarene and the Anna American Legion Auxiliary.

Born July 21, 1933, at Deering, Mo., a son of the late William Isom and Willie Estelle Garrett Baxter, he attended Deering schools, served in the U.S. Navy. He was engaged in the trucking business and was of the Baptist faith.
On June 20, 1953, in Sanford, Fla. he married Jean Lesley who survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Debbie Moody and husband, Mickey, of Caruthersville; one son, Michael Baxter and wife, Martha, of Sikeston, Mo.; three grandchildren, Laura Moody Treece of Caruthersville, Claudia Beeson and Charlie Beeson, both of Sikeston; one great-grandson, William Aiden "Will" Treece of Caruthersville.

Hello wonder if anyone can help.
Maud Treece was my grandmother and lived in Derby UK.
In her early life she lived in Hilton a village near Derby UK.
Maud is a enigma for me as I can find no record of her birth which causes me a great headache. Her parents and I say that without proof on paper were Samuel and Ellen Treece. There is a likelyhood that for a time the parents lived in Ireland as Samuel was at the Curragh Military camp and then they lived in England.
If anyone knows or sees anything in the future which could be linked to this please get in touch.

"William Douglas Treece, 75, of Clinton, died Monday, December 12, 2005. He was born January 21, 1930 at Leslie, the son of the late Ben C. Treece and Grace Coleman Treece. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, and was a construction worker.
He was preceded in death by brothers Carl, Danny, and Pete Treece, and by sisters Louie Marie and Hazel.
Survivors include a son, William A. Treece of Clinton; three daughters, Pattie A. Treece, Versa Lea Boomer, and Janice K. Secrest; three brothers, Buster, Connie Joe 'Pee Wee', and Henry Treece; four sisters, Johnnie Smith, Patsy Dyer, AliJean Victory, and Joann Leonard, and four grandchildren.

Edna Treece, 86, of Hatton died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2005, at the Fulton Manor Care Center in Fulton. She was born Dec. 25, 1918, in Stoddard County, the daughter of the late William Andrew and Molly "Love" (Fortner) Edwards. On Jan. 7, 1937, in New Madrid, she was united in marriage to Cecil Treece, and he survives of the home.
In addition to her husband of 68 years, other survivors include one son, Dale Treece of Hatton; one daughter, Margaret Gromer of Columbia; one brother, Herb Edwards of Millersburg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Treece worked as a homemaker. She was a member of Rising Sun Baptist Church and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and flowers.
Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at the Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at the Rising Sun Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Palmer officiating.
