I would like to learn about my mothers side of the family. My grandmothers maiden name was Starling. I have since learned about Trefethren but would like to know more. I lived on Monhegan as a little girl.
There is a terrific book called Monhegan:Her House, that I have been looking up my ancestors. I sure would like to dialog with anyone who might be related somewhere down the line.
Deborah Trefethen/Trefethren married 1822 Kittery,Maine

I am looking for information on Deborah Trefethern/Trefethen who married Cushman PRIOR on 21 Nov 1822 Kittery, York, Maine. I found them in the 1840 and 1850 census in Kittery, Maine, but I specifically looking for Deborah's line. She is listed in the 1850 census as being born in Maine, and being that she was 42 yrs old in 1850, would make her birthyear about 1808. I am especially trying to connect my GGgrandma Eliza A PRIOR to this line, since one of my GGuncles had the middle name "CUSHMAN" and every one called him "CUSH". My mother is still alive both in body and mind and remembers "CUSH" during her early marriage to my dad. If you can offer any help, please email me at <gail_veve@yahoo.com>. Ancestry.com; RootsWeb;world connect and even LDS have not info except for the info I have already listed. NEED HELP Thank you Gail Veve

Mary E. Trefethen - b. 1855, d/o Henry VI Trefethen and ???

Good Day Trefethen researchers!

I've recently begun compiling Hamilton information from a book I purchased, and have found a marriage for Henry Trefethen, b. @1835, and Elizabeth (or Mary Elizabeth) Hamilton, d/o Ambrose (b. 1807) Hamilton and Harriet (b. 1806) Doughty. The marriage information did not include his age, but did state he was from Peaks Island. Since she was born in 1833, I figured he was the most likely candidate. However, checks of 1870 and later census records show this Henry married to an "Apphia". I looked a bit more closely at the 1870 Census, to note that Apphia was only 30, and yet a daughter, Mary E. was aged 15. I decided it was best to look closely at the 1860 census, which allows for my theory. Could Elizabeth (Mary Elizabeth) Hamilton have married Henry sometime between 1850 and 1855, had Mary E. Trefethen in 1855, died either in childbirth or shortly thereafter, and Henry have married by 1870 to this Apphia?

Have any others listed Mary E. (b. 1855) Trefethen as the daughter of Mary and/or Elizabeth Hamilton???

Cheers,

Jared (Nashua, NH)
jedh@jedh.com
I am related, but I'm not sure where the split happened. I know that in the 1800s the name was Trefetheren on the east coast, prior to that it had additional letters. 13 from what I was told. It has been broken down and now shows up as Trefethren in the midwest and some upper east coast areas, Trefetheren only in the upper east coast, and Trefethen mostly in the California area. If you know more about this family tree link, please let me know, I am just starting my genealogy search.

I am looking for Eileen E. Langley. On July 1, 1995 she sent my unle Jesse Perkins (he died July 15, 1995)a letter indicating she had had done extensive research on the Dalrymple and Trefethen genealogy and was wondering if he wanted a copy of her research. At the time she lived in Ellis, KS., but she no longer lives there, at least doesn't have a phone. Some interesting circumstances surfaced this last week when my brother found this letter from her in some things that my brother had purchased at my uncle's sale. My family is very much interested in getting in touch with Eileen. My great grand mother was a Trefethen and her sister married a Dalrymple.
If anyone can put me in contact with her, it would be very much appreciated.

We Trefethen's figure that Henry was probably a Trevarthen/Trevathen?Trevethen back in Cornwall we just can figure out which one since he didn't leave a good paper trail back in the 1600s. Any clues let us know. His wife was Joanna (possibly Foster)

Trefethens - esp. in NJ

Hello to all Trefethen researchers,
I'm researching the Cornish in NJ and in my database of 3,000+ names have very few Trefethens -- but would like more. If you have any Cornish ancestors who spent any time at all in New Jersey, please contact me. I'm happy to share any information I have and am continually doing more research that I love to share.
Are you aware of Marjorie Stoneman Douglas who saved the Everglades and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her efforts? Her mother was Florence Lillian Trefethen whose ancestors were among the first settlers of NH and ME. In the Apr-Jun 1998 issue of "Tam Kernewek" (the newsletter of the Cornish American Heritage Society) Bill Curnow wrote an article on her. Let me know if you'd like a copy.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Nancy in New Jersey
