"The Kansas City Star" (Missouri) Saturday, March 26, 1904

When Zacharai Smith* returned to his home in the
West bottoms in Kansas City, Kas., yesterday afternoon,
he found his wife ill in bed. After a few angry words, he
took her in his arms and threw her through a window. The
glass was smashed and the woman was cut in several places.

Police Judge TREMBLY fined Smith* $100 this morning.

* not his real name
======================================================
(I have no connection with this family but I'd appreciate
knowing if you found this posting helpful.)
johnobrien@kc.rr.com
======================================================

neirbo9

Does anyone know if Joseph Tremble moved to Ohio via Virginia?I came across a Joseph Trembly in the 1820 Ohio census in Knox Co.,Ohio, very close to my 4th great grandparents,John Roberts and Mary "Trembly" Roberts.Their first three children[John and MARY'S] were born in Virginia and am wondering if Joseph was Mary's Father.I know that Benjamin Trembly born in N.J.came to Virginia via Loudoun Co.,VA then to Somerset Co.,PA.then to Monongalia Co.,Va.abt.1803[now Preston Co.,WV]and thought he was Mary's Pop,but have no proof, except Benj.had a Mary as well.Help anyone?

Barnard and Sarah's oldest, Mary, was born in 1862, so she was probably married off by the 1880 census. She is listed on the 1870 census.

Yes, looks like I'm related to your husband through the McDaniels.
I got the name of Bernard(Barnard) from my brother in law and he had him married to Sarah. The only other thing I have is that Barnard and Sarah had the 5 children listed on the 1880 Census. One of which is Hattie who would be my husband's grandmother. It really sounds like the families are connected. It is exciting to make connections.
I am in possession of a copy of a letter written by "Aunt Jane and Uncle Charley" on October 21, 1959 from Cheyenne, Wyoming. It is addressed to "Grace and Arthur" (don't know who they are). "Aunt Jane" is the daughter of Henry McDaniel and recalls her "Uncle Barney" who had a son named "William" who died on his 12th birthday, drowning in the river in Des Moines. Incidentally, her "Uncle Barney" married her mother's sister--that would have been Sarah Trembly. Ah--I just solved my own question here--Barnard was indeed married to Sarah Trembly. (Sometimes I miss what is right before my eyes!) She says that her grandfather was David McDaniel, but didn't know him at all.

Does this help...or confuse?

I do not have any other information on Barnard McDaniel.

In the 1860 Census in Independence, Iowa, I found a Bernard McDaniel, the parents of this Bernard are Hiram as the father and possibly a Martha who could be a second wife or the oldest daughter. It indicates that Bernard was born in Missouri.

As my search continues I will let you know.
I am a descendant of Henry McDaniel (1841) and Harriet Ann Trembly (1847). Their daughter, Harriet Blanche McDaniel married William David Robison, Jr. Their son Wilbur Gerald Robison Sr. married Irene Decker and their son, Wilbur Gerald Robison, Jr. was my dad.

Henry McDaniel's (and Barnard's) parents were David McDaniel (1808) and Catherine Goins (1817). I don't know anything else about them other than their birth dates. Of Barnard's 12 siblings, I only have 3 complete with spouse and children. Do you have any of this information?

Yes, it looks like we have the same family, with the same question about Sarah--is she Sarah Trembly? Wouldn't it be great to find some record of their marriage? I have 6 children listed for Barnard and Sarah, the oldest is the one your list is missing: Mary, who was born 1862--listed in the 1870 US Census in Warren, IA.

I am also looking to see if Sarah Trembly is the Sarah married to Barnard McDaniel. I have Barnard McDaniel born in Missouri, in 1837, he married a Sarah born 1841 in Ohio. They had 5 children Alice, Hattie, William, Gertrude and Frank. Hattie P. McDaniel(1867) married John Rice, their daughter Maggie Rice(1903) married Lloyd Grossman (1892). They adopted Richard Grossman 1948-1989, he was my husband.

Does this family match the Sarah Trembly and Barnard McDaniel you are looking for?

Irene's niece continued the research and made corrections and updates. The "story" about moving to the prairie and Jemima's death has been in writing, copied, and passed down.

I descend from Benjamin's brother Abraham. This is what I have on Benjamin:
Benjamin was Christened June 19, 1763 New Providence Presbyterian Church New Jersey.
He married Eunice Pennington
"Unconfirmed sources say he settled in West Virginia."
Benjamin is listed in the 1781 tax records of Essex County New Jersey; also 1788-1791 tax record of Somerset County New Jersey.
***************
Benjamin had a brother Jonathon who married Margaret Runyon. He was christened September 16, 1764 New Providence Presbyterian Church New Jersey.
Jonathon died September 14, 1831 in New Jersey.
Assumption is that he spent all his life in New Jersey.
Jonathan is listed as a member of the New Jersey Militia, Bernads Township, Essex County in 1793. He is buried in Rahway, New Jersey.
****************
Benjamin had a sister Becca who married Robert Limerick(marriage unconfirmed).
She was christened October 14, 1770 New Providence Presbyterian Church New Jersey.
They supposedly settled in Bureau County Illinois.
**************
Benjamin's brother Abraham was my gggg grandfather.
*************
As nearly as our best family researchers can tell, these all were the children of Benoni and Mary Trembly of Essex County New Jersey.

Joanna Trembly, d/o Abraham

I am curious as to what evidence exists that:

1) Abraham and Jemima Trembly had a daughter named Joanna
2) Joanna married Jacob Obediah Pittman

While the Pittman's and Trembly's did both live in Fayette County, PA around the time that Jacob would have married Joanna (abt 1810), they certainly did not live close to one another. The Pittman's (Obediah and son Jacob are both listed) are living in Tyrone Twp and Abraham Trembly lives in Wharton Twp. These two locations are on opposite sides of the county. Considering how rural western PA was in 1810, I find it highly unlikely that this marriage would have been possible.

It's not until 1830 that the two families can be found living closely, in Sunsbury Township in Monroe Co., OH. In 1820 Abraham Trembly is still in Fayette Co. while the Pittman's are already in Monroe Co.

Jacob does indeed appear to have a wife Joanna in the 1850 Monroe County, OH census, but this marriage could have occurred at a later time after the Trembly's moved to Monroe Co.

I guess my bottom line is that the often published marriage between Jacob Pittman and Joanna Trembly with children born starting in 1812 is in desperate need of further support before it can be looked upon as fact.

I believe I have found another daughter of Abraham and Jemima Trembly. I found a death certificate for Jemima Ann Conley, who lived in Lee Township in MCO. She was born in 1840 and died in 1912. Her father is listed as Abram Mathews and her mother is listed as Priscilla Trembly. I found this family in the 1850 MCO cenus. Priscilla was born around 1803 in PA. Looking at the 1810 and 1820 census, I find Abraham Trembly with more females than are accounted for in any genealogy I have seen for this family. This coupled with the fact that the only Trembly's in MCO are descended from Abraham and Jemima leads me to make the reasonable deduction that Priscilla Trembly is a daughter of Abraham and Jemima.

Abraham Trembly was born August 3, 1766 in Essex Couonty, New Jersey USA. He was christened August 15, 1766 at New Providence Presbyterian Church in New Jersey. Abraham died March 11, 1841 in Monroe County, Ohio. He is buried in E. Sunsbury Cemetery, Beallsville, Monroe County, Ohio.
According to an 1810 Census in Wharton TWP, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Abraham was 44 years old that year.
*******
We have been blessed by excellent and thorough researchers in our family. I was able to help by getting the very faded and thick book they published in the 1960s committed to the computer.

Wow! Yes, I'm interested in the Trembly line, most especially I need help on a David Trembly (b. 1834). He was married at least 3 times and I don't know dates for those marriages or which kids go to which mother.

I'm also very interested in the Still line--especially getting the correct information for the Hiram/Jemima Jane family and their descendants. I don't even have a marriage date for Hiram and Jemima. I have seven children for Hiram and Jemima Jane. Did daughter Ellinora F. marry a McBain? Do you have any information on Hiram's parents--Meridith J. Still and Elizabeth Martha Sanders? How about their parents? Do you have record of a Mary Pauline Still (born 1843) who married a John McDaniel in 1860? I'm not sure how she is connected to the family.

The questions go on and on. I would be so grateful if you would contact me at njjacks@hotmail.com.

Thanks!

John Clark Trembly is my 3rd great-grandfather. My records also show that he married Jemima Matthes. I do show that Jemima Jane Trembly was one of his daughters. So was Catharine Harriet Trembly (b. 21 July 1843), of whom I am a descendant. Jemima Jane Trembly wasn't the only Trembly to marry a Still. Hiram's brother, Andrew Jackson Still married Anna Trembly, also a daughter of John Clark Trembly. What information are you looking for? Have I mentioned anything you didn't have? I am currently looking into a possible link that others have mentioned, but I haven't found verification, that Benoni Trembly(b. abt. 1740) was the father of Abraham Trembly (1766), who was the father of Abraham Trembly (1810), who was the father of John Clark Trembly.

Nancy K. Basically, what I'm looking for is verification on the above mentioned people, i.e. birth/death records (I have Hiram Still's Death record) marriage records, any type of evidence linking everyone together. Do you have any of that? Thanks again for your reply! Kathy

Hello everyone. I'm trying to get more info on my 4th? Great Grandfather, John Clark Trembly. I've been reading the Trembly board and alot of the posts may fit within my family lineage of the Trembly's. I haven't verified alot of the info yet but there are dates and times that fit with my family.

Starting with John Clark Trembly, (b. 1804 in PA, d. died 1877 in Iowa), he married a Jemima Mathes (1808-1867). One of their children, Jemima Jane Trembly (b. 1836 in Ohio, d. 1896 in Holden, Johnson Co. MO) is my ggg grandmother. She married a Hiram Harrison Still (b. 1831 Pike Co. MO, d. 1911 in Cass Co. MO). One of their children, Elizabeth Jemima Still is my ggrandmother. She married a James Washington Thomas from Missouri. I'm looking for some verification of this family line so I know that I'm on the right track. Could anyone out there help me in this endeavor. I will share what info I have in return. Thanks so much in advance!

Kathleen Raymond

I was looking at the marriages and birth's of Peter Trembly's children, for his first wife Ann, he would have been around 60 years old, for his first child born? I think his first wife was Susannah Baker/Backer, and their daughter Susannah Tremlee/Trembly was born 1720 and married Amos Morse.
