Re: Cynthia A. Trenary ( b. Dec. 1829), m. Thomas Henry Carter (b. Mar 1829)

I am always interesed in the Trenary line and will take every opportunity to see if anyone knows the ancestors of my John B Trenary. Although there are some good theories provided by Helen Trenary Austin & Tom Barker (respected Trenary researchers), I cannot yet connect him to Richard Trenary, the pretty well accepted progenitor of the Trenary line in America. Deb, you should try to get in touch with Helen or Tom.

My John B Trenary was probably born in the late 1790s possibly in VA. Here is what we know or think we know about him: He arrived in Texas in 1835 from Ohio with his daughters Hannah & Honor, wife and possibly 5 other children who did not survive. He received a Mexican Land Grant and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto. We know Hannah & Honor were his only surviving heirs at his death between January & May 1846. Both Trenary girls married Levi & Martin T Pruitt, brothers, and there are many descendents still in Texas. My John B is probably of the same generation as your Samuel.

As always I'd love to be in touch with other Trenary & Pruitt descendents and researchers.
Kaye

Hi, Nancy! I'm in the Denver, CO area and cannot get to the library, so I rely heavily on the Internet and books I purchase when doing research. I was hoping to find this book for purchase and haven't run across it yet.

I appreciate your offer to scan a couple of pages. I doubt that will be enough. Here's the line I'm interested in. Perhaps you can tell me how many pages (total) pertain to these couples:

Nathaniel Washburn m. Christina Shafer
Mary Washburn m. Zephaniah Wade
Christina Wade m. Samuel Trenary
Cynthia Ann Trenary m. Thomas Henry Carter

If it's a lot of pages, I will continue looking for options to purchase the book (I don't suppose the author has any left...).

In response to Kaye's post, I have been in contact with Helen Trenary Austin and she was kind enough to share some information with me on the Trenary family (in particular, the ancestors of Samuel Trenary m. Christina Wade).

I am researching these lines for a friend/distant cousin and so am not directly related to them.

Thanks for your help.
Deb

In response to

I am researching the Trenary/Carter family and am interested in learning more about the Trenary lines.

What I have from census records and various birth/marriage/death records are the following:

Samuel Trenary
b. abt 1790 in Virginia, married

Christiana Wade
b. abt 1798 in Ohio

Cynthia Ann is one of several children to this couple found in various census records (others are Lafayette, Zephren Washburn, Sarah, Francis, Samuel).

I found a mention of this family in a book about the Nathaniel Washburn family (written by Carolyn Lute Gouty), and am unable to locate a copy of the book online (Google Books had a snippet view only, which was enough to tell me I need to find this book).

Is anyone on this list researching the Trenary/Wade families? I have information on the Carter lines and want to learn more aboutthe Trenary/Wade lines.

Thanks,
Deb
Is there someone who would have some information on Newton Trenary and Mary Ritter from Virginia and would be willing to share that information? My great grandfather was John Jonas Trenary and his death certificate says that Newton and Mary were his parents. However, the only Newton I can find who would be about the right age disappeared after the 1850 census. My grandmother said that John Jonas and his parents were from the Shenandoah Valley and John Jonas was born in 1859. I'm trying to pinpoint where John Jonas was born.

I'm so glad you replied back to me. My mother Valcettia has past on. I live in Louisville now, My older sister ginny pastaway 3 years ago, she lived in Cin. I don't know too much about my mother's past. I only know she had a terriable childhood and would not speak to anyone regarding this time in her life. She would talk about her sister's and the little bother tommy. I remember as a child going to visit somone in Maysville she would have been around 80's or 90 year old. I was 9 or 10 at the time. I can't remember what her connection was, but dad said she was related somehow to mom. That was the only time we spoke with her. After my parents died we found photo's that we are not sure whom they are, maybe you might be able to tell me somthing about them. There very old photo's there's no writing on the back to id them, I do have a photo's of mom and the twins, along with a brother and there dad Authur taken in the early 40's.
Barbara:
I have no idea if there were twins in the family or not. According to my birth records, she had a half-brother named Edward D. Carter, who at one time lived in Mooresville IN. That, besides her DOB, 09-01-27 in Indianapolis IN. That's all the records said about her.
I would love to talk to you. If you'd like email me you phone and I will call you. My cell phone would be alot cheaper than the land line.
I have one picture of Betty taken about 1947 or so. I have pictures of my biologial father, James Edward Rust. I have no idea whether they kept in touch or not. He died in Jan of 56. As far as anyone knows, they never divored.
Looking forward to hearing from you. tuleman@hotcom.net.
Connie

Wilma Betty Trenary (Rust)

In all anyone's studies on Trenarys, by any chance has anyone run across any from Indiana or Tennessee?
I am trying to find anything I can on Wilma Betty Trenary. She was born in 1927 in Ind. Her mother died when she was 4 and from then on until legal age, was in and out of foster homes and orphanages. She met my biological father, James Edward Rust, in or around Warren or Franklin County TN. She was pregnant with my brother Gene (Paul Eugene) and worked as a waitress at a truck stop at the time. They married. On Oct. 28, 1950, they were living in Franklin TN, and Wilma Joyce (Joy) was born. They separated in 1951. She was pregnant with me and moved to Tullahoma TN, where I was born on Nov. 7th. We all know the circumstances behind the three of us being taken away from her. As one of the conditions to avoid prosecution, she had to leave town. So in April of 1952 in Tullahoma TN, the trail ends. Supposedly, she went back to Indiana to family, a brother. That's all we know so far.
The three of us were later adopted, Gene and Joy to a family in east TN and me to a family in west TN. We found each other in June of 1990. Less than a week later, 5 half brother and sisters on my father's side.
Any help locating my biological mother or her relatives would be more than greatly appreciated.

From "History of Grant County, Wisconsin", 1881, p. 924.

PLATTEVILLE

JOHN TRENARY, farmer, Secs. 12 and 13; P. O. Platteville; born July 10, 1809, in Redruth, Cornwall, England. His early life was spent in the interests of his father's large mercantile and other business. He came to America in 1840, kept the old Blue Run tavern for a time, and, in 1843, came to Platteville, where he engaged in mining and auctioneering. His first wife, formerly Eliza Pollard, of Redruth, died in 1847, leaving four children - Eliza, now in Kewaunee, Ill.; John, a Methodist Episcopal preacher; Ellen, now residing at Big Patch, and an infant that died three months after the mother. In 1848, taking his three surviving children, he returned to England, where he remained eighteen months. Marrying Clarissa Lory, of Elstone, Cornwall, he brought her and the children to Platteville, and settled on a farm adjoining the one he now owns. Mr. Trenary now has 175 acres in the home farm, and 40 of timber in Lima. He was one of the founders of the Primitive Methodist Church, of Platteville. For more than twenty years, he has been Class-Leader and Sabbath School Superintendent. Mrs. Trenary has been a member for twenty-five years. They have ten children - Charles, Edwin, Carlin, Nelson, Eldred, Sarah, Lucy, Rosina, Albert and Eli.

[I am not related to this family. I'm posting this as a service and hope it helps!]

Do you know Betty Wilma? Do you know of her? Are you any relation? If so, IS SHE STILL ALIVE? I would love to know! I would like to talk to her? I would be her biological granddaughter. Thanks!

I am Connie Ballard's daughter. We don't know much of anything about her or her family. We have just recently started looking for her biological mother. We are in great hopes that someone, some where knows of her or her family, so we can find her. Thank you.
