My mothers name was Heather Eira Allshorn. Father James and mother Gertrude [Trevor] My mother came to NZ by boat but I don't know when. She looks about early 20's in photos. I found a marriage in June 1908 for my grandparents but I cannot find death notices or a birth for my mother. Have no idea how old she was when she died, about 53 they thought. She died in 1986. But I think she was older than that. If my grandparents married in 1908 how soon after was my mother born. Were there any brothers or sisters? I remember Mum mentioning an Aunt Lil? We wrote to a London newspaper about 1978 - 1980 looking for family members. She had a couple of replies. Please if anyone can help me. I was told my grandmother died when my mother was a little girl and her father brought her up. This is all I know and would appreciate any help at all. My mothers death notice said she was born in Scotland, Renfrewshire. But I don't know how true this is. She called herself a Pom and was proud of it. I am finding this very important to me. We didn't have long enough together and she now has three grandchildren that will miss having a Nanny. I want and need to be able to tell them as much as I can about their wonderful Nanny and family.
