I have always thought that but I was never sure myself, but I came across something on the internet about the five brothers that were raised in Virginia. They were the first Trimble's here, there is also a town named after them.

My grandfather Wesley Franklin Trimble b.Aug 1927 d. Feb 1992, his mother was Frannie Dickerson and father John Tucker Trimble b.Aug 1888 d 1954, his father John W. Trimble B. 1856 in Ill. d.1944 and his wife Martha Teer(?), his father Charles Trimble b.1807 married Sarah. I am unsure about this information, it is just what I was given by a family member. The only documents I have come across is a census w/John W and son John T, daughters Della, Lula, and Cora, which matched the dates.
Thank You,
Piscescdt@gmail.com

In my research I have verified that Dr. James Cozby had a brother Robert. This Robert was shot in the knee in a skirmish with the Torries in 1775 (some accounts say possible 1777). Dr. James and wife Isabella Cozby have sworn to this account in two different appearances in Reha Co, TN. being 1819 & 1820 ( I can send a copy of a type written account, looks to be authentic.) This skirmish was in the 96th Dist. South Carolina. This Robert then settled in alabama. A tailor by trade. I got this from a descendent of his who lives near me. There is also a sworn statement from State of Alabama to this effect.

Did Robert have a brother named James? My James Cozby, married to Isabella Woods, had a son John who married Abigail McBee, who had a son named James Trimble Cozby. At that time it was not at all unusual for a son to have the mother's or grandmother's maiden name. I know that most Internet genealogies has this James Cozby tied to the Cosby's that came from Ireland. I think they are all wrong.

Any help is appreciated.

His father is Hance? not sure of the spelling and it looks like his mothers name was Isabella Brownrigg? This is on his death certificate. He died in Cargill, Ontario Canada. If you know of any connection or leads I would appreciate it.

Cheer

Stephen

I am replying to the name Trimble in Seattle, WN.

I grew in Seattle. My uncle was born in 1906 and he either tutored a young boy with the last name Trimble or acted as a companion. The family was very finacially secure. I recall hearing as a child that the Trimble family perished when their car rolled off Coleman Dock when waiting for a ferry. The car brake was released or the brakes failed. This may have happened in the 20"s or 30's. It's possible that they owned Blake Island and were going to their beach home. Unfortunately, I cannot give you any specific names for this family but tracing Blake Island ownership might be a clue or looking for a newspaper article on the accident.

Susan in California

My Trimble family also lived in Kentucky, where John William Cowden married Mary Trimble, daughter of James Trimble, in Fayette County in 1802. See my website, www.donnneal.com, for details.

Does your file have a record of any of these people?

Re: Finding a lost Aunt.

Hello, so sorry that your aunt has been missing for so long. I share your pain.

The name Redfern has hit a chord with me, as well as the location. I am searching for any redferns who could be kin to me through my grandmother whose maiden name is the same. Ruby Irene Redfern born in Rogers Co. Oklahoma around 1915. Or possibly in Adid, NoWata or Enid, OK. Granny Ruby passed March, 2000 & is buried in Hereford, (Deaf Smith Co.) TX, USA where she had lived for about the last 40 or 50 years of her life. She is the last Redfern name we know of. She never mentioned her mother or fathers name & no one has ever seen a birth certificate from what Ive been told. She used to tell us grandkids she was mixed of Cherokee or some other Indian tribe, possibly Choctaw. We were all so young when we were around her and hardly ever saw her in her and our life as the distance of living areas were so vast.

She married Lee Roy Brannon in Oklahoma if my info is correct who is purportedly from Chilicothe, IL. I believe he worked on the railroad at the time of marriage, as they continued to move west purportedly due to Rubys health & Granny Ruby had still born twins died & buried in Raton Pass, NM, USA while Grandpa Brannon was working on the pass for the Santa Fe RailRoad Co..Lee Roy had at least one other brother named Sam and from what Ive heard is related to John S. Brannon of Ireland.

Ruby had a couple of sisters Maudie or Maude, Sis, Bea & Callie.

Another name keeps popping up in family discussions and that is Granny Chocklee or Chockly or a variation of. No first name as that is what Granny Ruby called her. 1 Picture is remembered by my mother of this lady sitting on a rocking chair somewhere in OK.

My father Johnny or Johnnie Hiram Brannon was born in NOWATA, OK, USA in 1936 and I, (Joe Dwayne Brannon)was conceived in Supulpa, OK and birthed in Hereford, (Deaf Smith Co.), TX, USA 23 DEcember, 1957.

I currently reside in Metairie, LA, USA and have done so since 1974.

I hope that you have found your aunt in these 10 years past since you posted your mail & can help me with the Redfern name.

Respectfully, Sincerely, I Remain,

Joe Dwayne Brannon
Hi Don,

I have very few Cowdens in my file, but I do have a few Neals, beginning with a Benjamin Neal born in 1809 who married Mary Goodnight....and a few loose Neals scattered thru the file.

There is an Elizabeth Neal {1798} who married Thomas Elmore, Stephen Neal {1765} who married Arcelia Patterson, Rev. William Wiley Neal {1824} who married Susan Gaines and a John Taylor Neal {1795} who married Nancy Darnell.

Some of the surnames which connect to the Trimbles are:
Ard, Darter/Tarter, Catron, Dalton/Daulton, Epperson, Floyd, Kegley, Kinslow, Turpin, Lay, Roy, Scrimager, Greer, Chumbley, Harmon, Gossett, Gadberry, Schoolcraft and Picklesimer, to name only a few.

The families settled in and around KY. in the early years...before being scattered to the winds as were many families later on.

If you feel it would be best for you to have the file in order to scan thru it, let me know and I will send it.

Rose vortex3@suddenlink.net

Hi Donn,

I have sent my Trimble file to you at the e-mail address shown on your website.

I would also be glad to send you what I have on the Neals in my file....IF you wish to have them. Yes or no, let me know either way.

Also let me know when you receive the Trimble file so I know if your address is valid.

Rose vortex3@suddenlink.net

Hello. I am a Georgia Trimble, one very new to genealogical research. My family came mostly from Troup County, Georgia. My grandfather was William Anderson Trimble, b. 1873, d 1958 in Hogansville, GA. He was married to Lina (Perlina)Brazell whose mother was a Culpepper. William Anderson was, I believe, the son of Alonzo Franklin Trimble, b. Dec. 1848, d. Nov. 1931, also in Hogansville.

If anyone has any information, I would welcome it. While my information is very sketchy, I will be happy to share.

Grace Trimble
