Robin;
Wiley W TROUP is my GGF who married Carolines siter Rosena
Sipsy They where married 8 Sep 1883 Bedford Tn., I have a copy of the Lic in my file. Rosena died in child birth 1901 with my GF willie. Wiley died 25 Apr 1930 in SC.
As far as I have gotten so far with Rosenas sister Caroline
I am at a loss. It seens that a lic was given for Caroline and John W Troup on 24 Dec 1887 but was either never solemnized by any one. Which would indicate that they never in fact had gotten married. I can't find anthing more about Caroline. However tje name john was Spelled as Jon on the Lic. Also in 1893 John W married a Barbara Phelps. I don't know if Caroline and John ever got married Or if in between something happed to her. Thats about all I have for now. good luck if you still looking.

Are you still researching your Troup family?

I am interested in family from England to Australia who may be related to James Grant Troup and his wife Sarah Palmer. James was born in 1870 in England and did have a sister Mary born about 1867 for whom I have no followup information.

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “Robert Troup and his dad”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in St. Louis, MO in about 1900, and the father looks about early 30s, while Robert looks to be about age 3.

I found Robert and his parents in the 1900 census for St. Louis, MO, showing his DOB as Mar 1896. He was age 4 and parents were Joseph and Wilhelmina. Ancestry WorldTree project shows that Robert’s mother was Wilhelmina Modell, that Robert’s wife was named Marjorie, and that Robert died in St. Louis in Jul 1966. Robert’s WWI draft registration shows his DOB as March 3, 1806.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Joseph Troup and his son, Robert.

I have a photograph bought at an antique mall of a man, dated probably around 1890s or early 1900s, and on the back it says Leslie Troop and "Hanover". I am assuming his name is Leslie Troop and not Leslie Troop Hanover. Hanover may have been his city or college. I found one match for a Leslie Troup and wife Hester on the Nebraska census for 1920 I believe. If you have any further info, please email me. This is not my family so I have no further info on this person.

PA Deutsch - STRAUB > STROUP > TROUP

In the Pennsylvania Deutsch region, especially in the area of Snyder County, PA, there are suspected cases of STROUP converting to TROUP (STROUP itself being an Anglicized spelling of German surname, STRAUB). I have collected some information on TROUP, more or less incidental to my research on STRAUB/STROUP. You are welcome to explore what I have at my web site:

http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/Str/StrHome.shtml

One of the items on my "to do" list that I hope to tackle soon is to find and document any cases of STROUP>TROUP conversion. If you know of any, please share.

Good hunting.
John H. Troup of Penn.
John H. Troup

John H. Troup was born in Lewisberry, Penn., in 1861, and is the second of eight children born to Abraham and Mary (Fox) Troup, the former a native of Adams County, Penn., the latter of Prussia. The parents are residents of Lewisberry, where the father carries on the trade of blacksmithing. John H. was brought up in the borough of Lewisberry, where he attended the public schools until he was twenty years old, when he went to Lockhaven, Penn., where he studied one term. He began the study of music at twelve years of age, and made such rapid progress that, at the age of seventeen, he began teaching music, and has since made it his profession. He also sells pianos and organs. He attended the Musical Normal School, held at Kittanning, Penn., with Dr. Mass and Eugene Thayer, as instructors, for one term. He was married, May 14, 1882, to Lizzie Swiler. They have one child, Vernie. In politics he is a Republican. At present he has a class of 100 scholars. And never has less than sixty.

Taken from the book, “History of York County, Illustrated 1886” by John Gibson, Historical Editor

Dear Trisha,
my name is Timothy Biggs and I'm an editorial journalist working for German Television. We are producing a documentary on missing people. I'm currently working on a case where a young man is looking for his father Richard Quentin Troup, born July, 11th 1951. We are not interested in financial aspects, all we want to do is make this man happy and fulfil his deepest wish - to find his father. Perhaps you can send me your phone number, so we can talk about the matter personally. Please reply to tim.biggs@endemol.de
Have a great day, kind regards from Germany, Tim

Levi Troup (b. Sep 1849) s/o Abram Troup in Pennsylvania

I'm looking for more information about Levi Troup, son of Abram Troup in Pennsylvania. I've come across the newspaper clipping which mentions the death of Levi as March 25, 1878 in Danville, PA. It lists his age as 28 years, 6 months. So I would say the birth date mentioned above is an approximation. Does anyone know more about his family?
