Hello! Amos Troupe is the one who lived in Pine Bluff, AR. His wife's name was Carrie M. Sloan Troupe, and they had a son named Charles Adna Troupe. Amos was a brother to my G. Grandmother. Amos was a doctor in Pine Bluff. You'll be very interested to know that right now I'm going thru some letters from the 1800's written from Amos to his Sister Sophronia Troupe Beuchat. I'm transcribing them, because some are very hard to read. I want to get them published or make them available to family members. They are very interesting, and tells a story about that family. There are probably atleast 100 letters. Write me, I'd be interested to know how you fit in. Y. Robinett I also have some photos too.

To my knowledge it was customary for slaves to take on the surnames of their owners, even upon freedom. I am a decendent of General Grant Troupe. To my knowlege he was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi on 13 Apr 1865. He married Recy Billups born in Alabama about 1862.

Together they had two sons, his oldest, carried his father's name.

To say I have my work cut out for me is an understatement. My family has tried and tried and tried again to find out more information on him and his family. I am now turning to those whose ancestors with the Troupe name owned slaves...any chance along the way that you came across any information regarding their slaves?

Any help, information, direction would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi my grandfather's name was Samuel John Troupe and his one brother that I found is Goerge Troupe from Big Rapids.
I was told that Peter was my great grandfather. My father's name was Samuel Garfield Troupe. Samuel John was married to Elizabeth Tiff. And they had Eva, Lewis Everrett,Arthur,Franklin,gertrude, and my father Samuel. My grandfather died May 1961. He is buried on 19 mile rd. Paris Mi. My father is buried in South Grant Center tw. It has long been suspected that there may have been conversions between TRAUB / TROUP and STRAUB / STROUP. We now have proof of such a conversion, in at least one case.

DNA testing has revealed a tight genetic match between a TROUPE descendant of John Peter TRAUB / TROUP of Perry Twp., Snyder Co., PA:

IF we're talking about the same Buddy Troupe, we're talking about my grandfather. He passed away when I was about two years old (I'm 16 now). He had two children; Greg (my father) and Colleen.

Im also looking for an allen troupe he used to work at a sleep away camp as a nature guy. I am not sure of Robert's father's name. I am sure that Allen's father was also called Bob, and Allen's stepmother was Margaret.
Allen had other sisters besides his twin and had a couple of brothers. The Allen that I am trying to locate was born August 1, 1929.

Probably not your Alonza, but I have one in my records who was born in 1851, Germantown, Montgomery County, OH. He died 17 Aug 1922 in Springfield, Clark County, OH. He was a pharmacist in Springfield and was called Toppy. He may have had 3 wives. He had one child Garland, that I know of. He did travel, but always returned to Springfield. Perhaps he had a child Alonza? Alonzo was a first cousin of my grandfather, Frank Howard Coblentz.
