Trousdale / Walter connection

My grandmother was Dolly Walter. Frank Trousdale was her brother in law. She was living with him and his wife Maud in Winchester Il. in 1920. Name was misspelled. Dolly had a daughter name Dorothy. DOB 1916. Dolly was a widow. Can't find her maiden name. Don't know her husbands first name. Too many Walter surnames. She gave birth to my mother Florence Walter in May of 1921 and put her up for adoption. Her name was changed to Florence Korte.Frank and Maud are listed again in 1930 living in Cape Girardeau Mo. Dorothy Walter is now listed as Dorothy Trousdale. Dolly cannot be found. May have remarried or died. Any information about this Trousdale would be appreciated. fjruckle@yahoo.com

Thanks for that. Yes, I'm sure that all 'Trousdales' & variations came originally from Yorkshire. I have yet to discover when my forebear Trou/wsdale made the journey to London sometime before 1800; the family were umbrella makers which occupation has helped identify them on census sheets. The 'stamp site' mantioned was an auction/sale website specialising in stamps, in addition to ebay of course. I hope you enjoyed your visit to England.

I do not know what a "stamp site" is. I live in the USA and am visiting England right now. My ancestor migrated to the colonies in 1732 from Ulster in Northern Ireland. According to a book I read of English surnames, Trousdale (and lots of variations like Truesdell, Truesdale, Trowsdale, Trusdale, etc.) is a place-name and refers to an ancient area in the North Yorkshire Moors today known as Troutsdale. The name goes back at least 1,000 years and was listed in The Domesday Book. My wife and I just came from Troutsdale yesterday to London.

I am transcribing the Evergreen Cemetary in Ontario, Malheur Co., Oregon and thought I would post pictures of the Pre-1900 headstones for those interested in having them. This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

TROUSDALE
I am searching for proof that JAMES TROUSDALE b. 1753 was a son of WILLIAM TROUSDALE b. County Down, Ireland ante 1736. I found in the "History of Smith County, Tennessee" on pages 305-306 that "William died in "old Perkins place", now belonging to Robin Bellar..." All other information I have found showed WILLIAM TROUSDALE died Orange County, NC Aft 1805 & bef 1810 (Karl Truesdell book). I am looking for either obituary, land records showing father to son, or anything else to prove this relationship.
TROUSDALE / TROUSDAIL branch in OHIO - circa 1788

I am looking for the branch of the TROUSDALE / TROUSDALE family - who bought land in the new OHIO TERRITORY c 1788, from a JUDGE SYMMES.
see the following web page for list of names, etc:
http://www.lovitt-genealogy.com/~lovitt/petitions/hamilton.h...

A William TROUSDAIL and a THOMAS TROUSDALE are listed on the 1799 "Petition to Congress" from many Hamilton County OHIO pioneer landowners who are having a dispute over the land they originally purchased from this Judge Symmes.
Does anyone know where these two Trousdale men, William and Thomas, were from, proir to buying land in OHIO??

My personal TROUSDALE line that settled in Lancaster Township, Jefferson County, INDIANA in 1827 came, I believe, from the branch who first settled in OHIO.

The 1830 Lancaster Twp, Jefferson Co., IN Census Record has:
THOMAS TROUSDALE: head of house - male 20-30 b: OH
and living with Thomas is a younger male 15-20 b: OH .
I beleive the "younger male" living with Thomas - is my gr gr grandfather - JOHN F. TROUSDALE - b: 1813, who would have been 17 years old in 1830.

Other TROUSDALE / TROUSDAIL names who are in Jefferson County, Indiana by 1830 are:
Sarah (Sally) Trusdale -m- Andrew Kinnear / Kennear c 1824 (proven sister to above Thomas Trousdale)
Margaret Trousdale -m- Jacob Nichols in 1831
Mary L. Trousdale -m- John Turmount in 1831
The above "given names" are common to an earlier Trousdale
family line from PA and then TN.
My personal John F. Trousdale married Elizabeth Green in Jennings Co., IN in Oct of 1839 and had the following Children:
Margaret J., Mary Louisa, Anna Isabel, Thomas and Morgan Delmont TROUSDALE.
Note the same common names - as listed for older generations of Trousdale's!!

Anyone willing to help me figure out this branch of the main Trousdale family, will have my undieing gratitude and thanks !!
Sincerely, Judy Mills Boie - Minnesota
I have been searching for quite some time for any information on my great-grandmother. I know that she was married (apprx 1861) to Garret C. Gowan. They were married either in Mississippi or Texas. I know that she had my grandfather, William Garret Gowan and shortly after his birth 1886, Garret C. Gowan passed away in Mississippi. I would like to know if there were more children. I would also like to know if Mattie had siblings and who her parents were. I do know that a town in Oklahoma was named Trousdale after the family.
IF anyone has any information I would be most appreciative.
Yes, Thanks. Emmett Arthur Trousdale/Minnie Pearl Thomas were my grandparents. I found the names of my grandmother's parents, but that is as far as I've gotten so far.

I got interested in Genealogy in September when I went to a family reunion and one of my distant cousins had the FTM book of my Dad's (for his dad) genealogy. I then bought the FTM software and a really nice bound book on my Dad's mother's side which another of my distant cousins put together. He had nothing digital but the book is really nice and will make a nice coffee table book. Then I found my Mom's Dad's genealogy online, now I'm looking for her Mom's genealogy. Next I'll start on my husband's side which will be really tough because he's adopted and we'll have twice the trees to search.
