thanks! i find this fascinating.
My parents died when I was nine so I have little true information. I read somewhere that there is a truitt family reunion each july in Holmes Co, Mississippi. I met a cousin once, Norris Leonard but lost track when he moved(all prior to the internet) frpm Mobile Alabama to Georgia. He worked as an executive for the Burger King Corporation. He looked remarkedly like my brother! It was spooky the resemblance... even to the odd way they each hold a cigarette.
where are you from?? Elissa Truitt

Morning.
I have not came across any of these names in my research of the Truitt name. I will keep them in mind though, as I have only researched the direct line at the moment and not the children to each family yet. Much success in your research.

Debrah

Hi,
I'm trying to find the parents of Nancy Truitt, born about 1814 in Ross County, Ohio. She married James Blain Chesnut on March 3, 1835 in Ross County, and she died on September 6, 1850, also in Ross County. Her death was probably related to the birth of their son James on August 23, 1850. I can't find any clue leading to her parents. The most likely candidates are Littleton and Elizabeth Jerman Truitt. They were in the area and were busy having children at the time, but Nancy is never listed on any family grouping for Littleton and Elizabeth. If anyone has any information on this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Among them were E G Truitt, whom I believe to be Elizabeth Gertrude (called Geri), age 8 in 1860, and Margaret, age 4. These two sisters married two brothers, Wm. Nelson Lloyd (b. 1852) and Jack Ira Lloyd (b. 1855), respectively. If you have any information on these Truitts, Please let me know.

Thanks so much, Dori Lloyd :-]

I am searching for information about Wm Ross Truitt and Cathrine Morrow who settled in Washington Co AR in before 1839. Cathrine is listed in the 1850 census however Wm is not. My ggrandmother was Julia Ann Truitt, she married John Henry Carrell May 9, 1849, they appear in the 1850-60 Washington Co census then the Crawford Co 1870 census.
Many of the online trees etc. confuse Wm Ross Truitt with a Wm Riley Truitt

Harry and Albert had 2 other brothers--Frank S. and Walter C.--and 2 sisters, Ida Mae and Elsie C. Their father was Charles Heidel Truitt and mother was Josephine Elizabeth Carpenter Truitt.

Re: Death of William Truitt

Appears in the Terrell Times-Star, Terrell, Kaufman County, Texas, 14 February 1891...

William Truitt, January the 27th, 1891, at the North Texas Insane Asylum, Terrell, where he had been employed as an attendant upon the insane and had been faithful in the discharge of duties devolving upon him. Deceased was truly a good man, but alas, we fear not a christian; but as all things are possible with God we have the sweet privilege of hoping it may be well with his soul. With sad hearts we followed his remains to the train to be shipped to Paducah, Kentucky, his former home. He was the oldest of thirteen children, being the first death in the family. He leaves an invalid wife and we do sincerely sympathize with her in this dark hour of trial; but it is through trials that we are disciplined for heavenly joys. All that kind nurses and skilled physicians could do was done; but like a caged bird anxious to be free, his noble spirit seemed destined to return to the God who gave it. he was sick but a few days when that dreadful disease, pneumonia, carried him off. On brother and sister were with him during his illness. Thus we all however active in life, pass away.
