James Samuel Hanna(h) (b 1809, SC or NC) married Mary Truly (b 1814, KY) in Madison Cty, MS Sep 13, 1832. I am searching for the parents/ancestors of Mary Truly and James Samuel Hanna(h). This is not the Mary Caroline Truly (b Feb 22, 1817, ?:) who married James C. Hanna in Holmes Cty, MS in 1837. The two James Hannas may have been related. I don't know about the Mary Trulys

My GGGrandmother was Mary Truly who married James Samuel Hanna(h) in Madison, MS on Sep. 13, 1832. Do not know if there is any connection to your MS Trulys. I do not know who her parents were although I believe she was born in 1814 in KY.

I am trying to trace my ancestors with the last name of Truly. My GG-grandfather was believed to be from the Boston, Mass. area but later migrated to Vicksburg, Miss.

Can you tell me which family member married a black woman and no the black,s that carrie this name is not a slave decent. the best i can tell they came from fayette miss, i know that some of our family member may not what to here of this.

I noticed your old message about James Hannah and Mary Truly. You have may already learned the following. James Samuel Hanna(h) (b 1809, SC or NC) married Mary Truly (b 1814, KY) in Madison Cty, MS Sep 13, 1832. This is my line. James C. (Clinton?) Hanna (b Jan 21, 1814 in ?) married Mary Caroline Truly (b Feb 22, 1817, ?:) in Holmes Cty, MS in 1837. I think the second couple are the ones you are looking for. The two James Hannas may have been related. I don't know about the Mary Trulys. I have been informed by Truly Family historian Jeanne Truly Davis that the second Mary Truly's parents were James Hector Truly and Nancy B. Ragsdale. Hope this may have been helpful - Ed.

Hi Nancy: I, too, descendant of Hector Truly. No photo's from the 1700's, but do have his will. I'm in last stages of publishing another book on Hector Truly descendants... so plse let me know your line back to Hector. Would love to put your line in the book. Seeking information relating to JOSEPHINE LEAH TRULY. Her father thought to be JAMES TRULY of MS. James thought to have married 2nd a Mrs McFadden.

Josephine married Elias Edward Byrd ca 1907. This pair though to have lived shortly in McHenry, MS. Also lived various places in GA and AL. Hanelms@aol.com

1829 NY State Area Family Bible

I recently acquired an 1829 VERY large family bible. The Family Record pages contain references to 62 individuals and events (Births, deaths, marriages) between 1765 and 1914.
Surnames are Brush, Coggeshall, Crowther, Davis, Dodge, Farr, Frazee, Freeman, Howe, Kelly, Lowerre, Muller, Pearsall, Phelps, Redfield, Stappers, Thomas, Truly, Wheatley, Wright.
The majority of individuals (28) are Lowerre's, with the majority of the remaining surnames maiden/married names of descendant or ancestor spouses or children of those married individuals.
The longest line between earliest and most recent individual is five generations.
Most of the events are in the New York (state) area, but there are entries from Pennsylvania and Colorado.

Hi Mara: I am a Truly family researcher, and most interested in your posting. A few years ago, I tried to contact all the Truly's I could find in the U.S. --- if you have a list other than that, I would be greatly interested. Hello - I'm not sure if you have seen my message. I am the granddaughter of Sidney Franklin Truly (son of the late Dr and Mrs. F.W.E. Truly). Although my grandpa passed away, he does have a surviving sister, Miss Clara Truly, born in 1910 and actually will be turn 93 on February 23rd, 2003 (which I did not see listed under her mother (Clara Edna McPherson Truly's). Gravesites are in Shreveport at Centuries Memorial Cemetery. She is residing in Shreveport, Louisiana. Sidney Franklin Truly and and his wife (my grandma - also passed away) Mae Simmons Truly had three children: Dorothy (Truly) Evans, Helen (Truly) Ashley and Katherine (Truly) Lawrence. Two of the three daughters of Sidney Truly are deceased with one daughter (Katherine) still surviving and living in Shreveport Louisiana.

I would love to hear from any family on my grandpa's side as with our mother gone (Helen Truly Ashley), it is just my sister (Cyndy Diumenti and myself) residing out in Arizona with our children.

About 10 years ago I received a call from a Truly who was tracing all Truly's in the US. It doesnt have any type of genealogy, but it does provide with address information. I still have the list if I can dig it out. If anyone's interested, let me know.
