Hello, All!

When I first met my biological Father, Carl Truman, I learned that I had Native American ancestors (though, I think only on my biological Mother's side, but I'm not sure). If this is true, I would like to know how much and of what tribe. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Ray C. Underwood

I am looking for any info on Charles Truman c1863, he married my GG Grandmother Annie MacFarlane who was originally from Dunbartonshire Scotland in 1885 at Washington County Pennsylvania. They had three daughters Maggie Maud and Rebecca Jane. Annie remarried in 1892 in Brownsville Pennsylvania, her second husband was George Lucy. Annie and George came to Scotland c1893. I don't know what happened to Charles, if he died or if they divorced. On Charles and Annies marriage application it states Charles's father's name as George Truman residing in England. Hope someone out there can help fill in the blanks.
Thanks,
Jill

Truman, Payne Illinois, Inidana, Texas

Looking for any information on an Ethel Truman/Trumann who married Ray H. Payne 2 Mar 1920, Marion County, Indiana. We know virtually nothing about her except she had worked in an asylum or sanatorium at some time in her life. At some point the last name changes to Pierce(reasons are only a family story) and they and their two children are listed in 1930 census in Marion County. Though her family is listed as all from Illinois, family stories state that her line came from Georgia. In my mess of things, I cannont seem to find her birth and death date info. However, she remarried a man named Krug and lived for a time in Amarillo Texas; she and husband are buried in Pampa, Texas.
Any help would be appreciated. The Payne side of the family has proven to be just as elusive.
Julie Giles Kempf

William and Emily Truman: KY

William and Emily Truman are listed in the 1870 census of Hardin County, Kentucky. I cannot find them in the 1880 census anywhere--all spellings. William and Emily had a daughter born in 1865 named Mary(Polly). Mary is listed in the city directory for Springfield, Missouri in the 1880s. Mary's obit says that she and her family moved to Springfield in 1877. Mary married Richard Armstrong in Springfield. William Truman passed away in 1898 in Springfield and is buried there. I would really like to know where William and family is in 1880. If you know anything about this family, please contact me. thanks brian

I was put up for adoption a few years after birth, hence the different last name.

I have not had the time to keep up with the forum the last few years because of work obligations, espeically while deployed here in Iraq. After I return to America, I hope to do a little more on my family history.

I have always had an interest in family crests/heraldry. My girlfriend and I have talked about family crests on a few occassions. Do any of you have an example of the Truman family crest?

Thanks!

In Christ,

Ray

Beth,

I'm sure you've made progress since you posted this, but I believe your Henry born 1782 in MA, is the son of Edward Truman. I don't think he moved from Hardin county though. In the 1820 census he is in Hardin and the 1850 census he is in Meade, but Meade county was formed out of Hardin around 1830 I think. Let me know if you've found additonal information. I have his wife as Susan Gouldman.

There was a big association with the river, with them working as Bargemen, Lightermen.
Any links out there?

I am seeking information on a W.M. Truman. I Have a bracelet with a SSI# and birthdate of 7/11/79 on it. I also have a small container with his initials, along with the inscription, "Helen to Dad, 1924". I believe that he is from the Massachusetts area, but that is only a guess. Any info is appreciated.

Obit. Guyvanna Leota TRUMAN

TRUMAN GUYVANNA LEOTA Guyanna Leota Truman, fighting a 14 year battle she could not win, died of cancer on May 3, 2003 at her home in Camarillo, Calif. Guyvanna, Ms. Truman to her students, retired in 1991 from the Sweetwater District after teaching social studies for 31 years at Chula Vista Junior High School. She worked to help her students learn because she felt it was their only chance for a better life. She never gave up. She had strict discipline in her classes, but said it brought out the best in her students. She was so proud of her students and said she would match them against any classes, anywhere. She also tried to instill in them a knowledge, love and respect for their country. In 1990 she received the "Hats Off To Teachers" award from San Diego County. After retiring she volunteered with the San Diego Police Dept., working in the narcotics unit, Team 7, where she received the Commanding Officers Citation, the Exceptional Performance Citation, and Commendations from the District Attorney for programs she developed and carried out. Guyvanna leaves her brother, Lee Truman, and sister-in-law, Ruth; her niece, nephews and their families, and many friends with whom she shared lots of laughs, tears, and years. Guyvanna was the essence of beauty and sophistication, gracious and lovely to all, and the world was a much better place because she was here. Her family and friends--and Nordstroms--will miss her dearly. A life celebration will be held from 2-4 p.m. on May 25, at the United Methodist Church of Camarillo, 291 Anacapa Drive, Camarillo, Calif.
Published in the San Diego Union-Tribune on 5/15/2003.
(volunteer submissionO)

Trumans from Maryland/Delaware

I am looking for information on three brothers: Randolf, Harry and Steward Truman. Randolf and Harry were born in 1883/1884 (not sure which was born which year) and Steward (who is my maternal Grandfather) was born December 11, 1890. All three were born in Perrysville MD. Their mother's maiden name was Celia (maybe Cecelia) McCardle. In 1895, as a widow, she married a Charles Joseph (who was married twice before) in Wilmington DE.

We have never been able to find out who their father was and there is very little information on any of them. When you query "Harry" you only get information about the former President. I have found somee info in Randolf, but not much.

If anyone has any information on this family at all, please contact me at: vmcalister@sbcglobal.net

You will never know how much it will be appreciated!

Valerie Conley McAlister

Truman Family in Shelby Co. KY

I am looking for any information on Richard Truman who married a Margaret and had 5 children Roscoe, Pet, Myrtle, Elmer (my g grandfather), and Goldie. I am told that we are related to Harry S. and having seen that his grandfather was born in Shelby Co. KY I am apt to believe it. I just can't prove it yet. I found a few trees containing Richard D. Truman as a brother to Anderson Shipp Truman Harry's grandfather, but no one know what become of Richard. Can anyone help me with this.I will truly appreciate it and so would my 81 yr old Grandma. Thanks Mendy Mabe

TRUMAN-IRE-PATERSON, N.J.

Patrick Truman married Sarah Phenix in Ireland. In the 1880 federal census of Paterson, N.J. They are both 35 years old and have a son David that was born in England. This union issued three. David 1850 England; Michael 1855 Paterson, and Patrick 1857 Paterson, Patrick lived alongside the railroad tracks, that ran between his house and the stable out back, where he kept his horses. The horses he used for his wagon, that he used in his junk business. On the 29th of June 1886 while he was returning to the house his wife called to him and on his way back to the house he was struck by a train and cut in half. His remains are interred in Holy Sepulchre cemetery, Totowa, N.J. in the Truman family plot. Would like to contact any family members.
Dave

I suspect that Susannah may have been a daughter of George,
eldest son of Rev. Haute Wyatt, but cannot prove it.
