There seems to be quite a bit of confusion over two men with the same name, who lived during the same time frame in Ct. The DAR records are incorrect, listing William Trumbull, who married Alithia Williams, as the man who marched from Mansfield in the Lexington Alarm. This William died around 1797. His birth date is listed as 1747, but this might not be corect also. My ancestor, William Trumbull b. Dec. 27,1747, was married to Rachel Cole. They married Aug. 26, 1778. This William and his brother Solomon, are listed in the militia roster for Mansfield. The reason for all the confusion is because the other William lived in Mansfield. My William, married to Rachel, died in Ephratah, New York in 1835. I have his pension application and different records from the National Archives in Washington D.C., and also records from his family bible. They provide much information to straighten out all the confusion, so I will be putting in an apllication with the DAR soon.
