Ann,

Lucian B. Tubbs was my great grandfather who was father of my grandmother Mary E. "Mollie" Tubbs Lindsey. I would love to learn more about them a see pictures of them. Can you please help with this. Mollie died of the flu in 1917 and no one in the family has any pictures of her or her family. Mollie, her husband Robert P. Lindsey, her father Lucian and his brother Martin G. are buried in the Crooked Oak Cemetery in Franklin or Colbert Co. AL along with many other family members. Thanks in advance if you can help.

Ernest Tubb Ancestry

My Father (reportedly) Ernest Tubb's cousin was from Edna, Texas. He said his mother and Ernest Tubb's mothers were sisters. I do know they hung out alot when Ernest was very young from old photos. I also remember going to Texas to visit relatives and going to see Ernest at a dance hall he was playing one afternoon where my dad introduced us all to him. Any info on Ernest's aunts on his mothers side would be very much appreciated.

Hello! I'm researching my gr gr gr grandparents: William John TUBB , b. abt 1804 England, and Jane KING, b. abt 1817 England. William might've died about 17 Jun 1854 in Middlesex, Charing Cross, England. They were married about 1836, probably in London, England. Jane's mother might have been an O'Neill from Dublin. Looking for more information on them. They had a son, William Henry TUBB, who married Mary Martha KROCK. Wm. Henry's b.d. is 11 Apr 1837 in London, England. I just know that my father-in-law, C.R.Tubb Jr., Ernest's brother, always said that all Tubb/Tubbs were related. and he often spoke about a yearly(?) family reunion in Bernice, Louisiana. C.R. died in 1994. None of my immediate family has ever been to this reunion. Have you ever heard of it?

Thank you for your reply. Yes I have found much more on our Tubb/Tubbs line and know that they are indeed part of the same line as Ernest. One of the cousins has traced just how and said her grandmother told her he used to stop off at her house for some good home country cooking when he was passing through on his tours. I had only my grandmother's nick name of Mollie to go on and she died in 1917 of the flu when my father was only six. Her given name was Mary E. Tubbs b. 1869 in Franklin Co. AL to Lucien B. & Mary Ann Hall Tubbs. Her grandparents were William M. & Mary Tubbs and great grandparents were Joel C. & Sarah Huff Tubbs of Perry Co. (then Franklin) AL. Mollie's other siblings were Sarah Ann, Tompsie J, Lucy Bell, James Frank, Samuel Lee & John Henry Tubbs. I am hoping some of these names will look familar to you and that I can find pictures of this line.

You may have already got an answer to your question about Ernest Tubb's father but if not...here it is. His name was Calvin Robert Tubb Sr. Ernest's brother was a Junior. I don't think Calvin Sr. had a sister namd Molly.

Ronald was born after mothers name was added to the register details so using FreeBMD I conclude that Frederick William married Lily Henderson Devonport 1904. The marriage certificate should give you their father's name and their ages. Then look in the 1881/1891/1901 census and, with luck, you should be on your way to a family tree.

My husbands Grandmother was Merevine"Mae" TubbShe was the daughter of James F. Tubb born abt 1843 in Franklin Col.bert County, and Martha Ann "Matt" Mitchell,born 8th March 1890 in Colbert County, Al. James was the son of Lucian N.B. "Luck" Tubb, born abt 1850 and died Nov. 14,1934 in East Florence ,buried at Crooked Oak Cem. Colbert County, Al. Lucian was the son of W8illiam M.H. Tubb (conferate solider, born abt 1824 in Perry County died 29Nov.1862, He was married to Mary Godby. Lucian was married to Mary Ann Hall. William was the son of Joel C. Tubb,marrie to Sarah Huff.Jpel was the son of William Tubb Jr. married to Elizabeth________. Do these fit in with your Tubb? Let me know as I have some pictures of these people..

So sorry it has taken me so long. Had two employees out at work and been working way to much..

Yes.. still collecting any info I can on Tubb family.. still trying to figure out who my William's parents or siblings were... I have very little on the MS bunch so need help.

I know that John Tubbs listed in Jackson Co, AL 1850 was also born in KY in 1802.. He listed with a Matilda born 1828 in KY then Mary born 1826 in in Alabama.. more kids.. from Mary at 24 (born 1826 to John age 12 born 1838... all Alabama) then a Sarah age 7, charles age 5 and Jesse age 3... the way Matilda is age 22 listed after John, the Mary age 24 after Matilda makes me think that Matilda was 2nd wife.

Am trying my best to list every Tubb(s) listed in 1850 census anywhere in south ( descendants of William or George of NC/SC) to determine parents.. so hard... lots of trying to get the children and grandchildren of Old William and George defined a little better...

Also Janus Tubbs listed as born 1805 in KY too.. He was in Decatur Co, TN 1850... so he is a good lead for me...

What I love about Janus is that his mother Susan Talkington Tubb is listed with him at age 90... so we know this is Janus son of Jeremiah for sure..

I have 2 TUBBs listed as husbands in my THOMAS family line. I have one of their names as Cape George TUBB b.ca.1847 MS who married Mary Lienzena THOMAS in about 1883 or 1884 probably in LA<--(Louisiana)Mary was the daughter of Philip Hill THOMAS and Mary Virginia HAGGARD. Mary Lienzena THOMAS was b.25JUL1868 Columbia, Caldwell Parish, LA. Her father was born in MS and her mother in AL. I have only 2 issue listed for this couple, Lulan or Luther E. TUBB b.ca1885 TX and Roma C. TUBB b.ca.1895 TX.

The other TUBB I have in this same family is:
James T. "Jim" TUBB b.ca.1857 MS m.1888 to Annie Elizabeth THOMAS b.LA 05jun1868 d.1892 probably in TX. Her parents are the same as Mary Lienzena THOMAS above. I have only 2 issue listed for this couple: Jessie L. TUBB b.ca. 1886 TX and Eva TUBB b.ca.1889 TX. Jessie m. Edgar O. HILL. This is probably the HILL family whom I think Philip Hill THOMAS' mother Mary Hill BROWN descends from, Phillip HILL from GA.

I don't know why I am having so much trouble attaching these TUBB men to a TUBB family line. Anyone who can help?

Mary Tubb (nee Dawson) left UK on The Marine Flasher. Sailed from Southampton on 22/8/47 arr. 31/8/47. Travelling with daughter Marian Kethlenn Tubb born Exeter 1941. Emigrated to Staten Island USA late moved to Phoenix Arizona. Mary was divorced at time believed to be going to join and American GI.

2 other daughters Freda Tubb B: 1936 Lambeth & Phoebe Tubb B: 1938 Lambeth followed to join their mother later. Sailed from Southampton on 23/9/53 on the 'United States'. Arr USA 28/9/53. Res. 5456 Arthur Kill Rd, Tottenvilee, Staton Island, NY 10307.

May have been visited by an aunt - Leah Dawson (Mary Tubb's sister).

Correction on my information. Francis Marion Lindsey b. 1852 was a brother my grandfather, Robert Paul Lindsey b.1866 who were sons of Robert D. Lindsey & Martha Sue Hester. Francis Marion Lindsey married Mary E. Tubbs sister to Lucian B. Tubbs who were children of Willam M. Tubbs. Lucian B. & Mary Ann Hall Tubbs were the parents of my Mary E. "Mollie" Tubbs born AL 1869 and married my grandfather Robert Paul Lindsey.
So both brothers married Mary E. Tubbs the elder b. 1852 being the Aunt of Mary E. Tubbs b.1869. I am still searching for any pictures that anyone may have and want to share of the Tubbs Family. I will be happy to share my information on our family. I know for sure now that Lucian & Mary were my Mollie's parents. All the siblings match my old family notes.

I just found your message from two years ago and I hope you can still contact or answer me. This is the first time in a very long time in my searches that I have found a clue to what I have been searching for. Lucian B. Tubbs was my great grandfather, father of Mary E. "Mollie" Tubbs, my grandmother born 1869. She married Robert Paul Lindsey in Colbert Co. AL. They are buried in the Crooked Oak Cemetery in AL along with Lucian. Mollie, as they called her, probably because her mother was Mary too, died in 1917 of the Spanish Flu when my father, the youngest, was only about four. No one in my family has any knowledge of or any pictures of our Tubbs. I had some ruff notes which I search on and found the names of her parents and siblings which are the ones you posted here. I want so much to find a picture of my grandmother who I was named after. Can you please help me.

I, too, have recently discovered that I am a descendant of Thomas and Ann Sellens/Sillence Tubb. I have seen both spellings but do not know which is correct. More directly, I am descended through their daughter Fanny and her husband Robert Mansbridge. My great-grandmother's name is Mary Ann(e) Mansbridge. I see you have a TUBB/SILLENCE connection and I was wondering if there was any link to my research?
I have a William TUBB, b 17 Apr 1831 in Upper Clatford, Hampshire who married Sarah SILLENCE, b 1830 (app) in Wherwell, Hampshire She died 18 Oct 1893.
My main interest lies with the TUBB line. William was the eldest son of Rueben b 1804 in Upper Clatford, Hampshire, married to Sarah HUNTER, b 1809 in Upper Clatford.
Rueben is sometimes quoted as being born in Kimpton, Hampshire, but a removal order from Kimpton to Upper Clatford would suggest that the Kimpton elders believed he was not theirs!
Any information would be gladly welcomed and I am happy to share anything I have of interest to you.

I think Ms Catharine is my Grt Grt Grand Mother. My Great Grand Father John Thomas "Gabe" Lewis was born Dec 1869. He had three sisters: Laura Samantha Lewis(Green), Vicy Eveline Lewis (Parker) and Andrew Bell Lewis (Rye). I have not found a Death Certificate for him yet. I have narrowed his death down to late 1924 and early 1925. I have Catharine also in 1880 with Martha Tubb with the four children. I have done some research and found that Ms Rye lived past 1930 and there maybe a Death Certificate for her which will show for sure who her parents were. Do you have any information on Catharine or A.J. Lewis.

I am trying to research my Great Grandmother Emily Maria Waldridge/ Watteridge. She married Newton Baugh Tubb 1876 in Southampton under the name of Waldridge but on my Grandmothers birth certificate she is shown as Watteridge.The 1881 census for Southampton shows her with 3 children,Frances,Charles Owen and John B Tubb. Newton Tubb remarried in 1889 but I cannot find out what happened to her. Can anyone help please?
