I have been searching for the parents of Alonzo Tubbs for years, as have other family members. Alonzo and his brother Francis were born in Kentucky but were living just across the river from Louisville in New Albany, Indiana by their 20s. They formed their own company for the Union side in the Civil War. Just before this time, they had been living in a household with a Mary Tubbs that was the right age to be their mother, but the census doesn't actually state that she was their mother. There was no man a father's age in the household. Alonzo and Francis were both captured and held prisoners at Andersonville, Georgia. On Alonzo's death certificate it states his mother was Mary Robinson, gives no father's name. Could this have been a mistake? Might it be possible that this Francis is Alonzo's brother?

I am no longer searching for this family. I found my Mollie Tubbs Lindsey's family. She was born, Mary E. "Mollie" Tubbs in 1869, daughter of Lucien B. & Mary Ann Hall Tubbs of Franklin Co. AL. She was the oldest child and her siblings were Tompsy J.(m.Holland), Lucy Bell(m.Roe), John Henry, James Frank, Sarah E."Sallie" (m.Branum), Evie R. & Samuel Lee Tubbs. I am still hoping to find photos and share information on this family.

MUSATINE, Iowa -- Philip Tubbs, 45, of Muscatine, died Saturday, July 8, 2000, at University Hospital in Iowa City.

Services were held at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home in Jasper, Ala.

A memorial service will be held at the Mississippi Brew, to honor Philip.

Survivors include his parents, Billy and Elizabeth Tubbs of Cordova, Ala.; two sisters, Beryl Frost of Cordova and Rebeka Mizew, and her husband, Johnny, of Adamsville, Ala.; two brothers, Mark Tubbs, and his wife, Cynthia, of Cordova and Joseph Tubbs of Cordova; three nieces, Andrea Frost of Pinson, Ala.; Meagan Frost and Brittany Tubbs, both of Cordova; a nephew, Benjamin Tubbs of Cordova; and many other relatives and friends.

Your grandfather, Martin G. Tubbs was a brother to my great grandfather, Lucien B. Tubbs. They are buried in the Crooked Oak Cemetery in Franklin Co. AL along with one of Martin and Martha's sons and my Grandparents Robert P. & Mollie M. Tubbs Lindsey. They are posted on findagrave.com.
Their parents were William M. & Mary Tubbs. Grandparents were Joel C. & Sarah Huff Tubbs from Perry Co. AL. I have just recently, after many years of searching, made a connection to others searching for Tubbs info. I hope to hear from you and exchange what ever information we can. Molly

I know this is an old posting, but I wondered if you ever found more on this family. Sarah Ann "Sallie" Tubbs was my grandmother, Mary E. "Mollie" Tubbs sister. Their parents were, Lucien B. & Mary Ann Hall Tubbs born in Franklin County AL. Other siblings were Lucy Bell, Tompsie J., James Frank, Evie R. & Samuel Lee Tubbs.
My grandmother married Robert Paul Lindsey and they had eleven children in Colbert County AL. Mollie died in 1917 of the Flu and Robert in 1954. They are buried in Crooked Oak Cemetery in AL along with her father Lucien B. Tubbs and his brother M.G. Tubbs.

I believe your William & Sarah are buried in MO where they settled after leaving AL and moving to MS, AR and finally MO. I am hoping to find more information on the Tubbs family and hopefully pictures of them. I finally found a picture of one of their brother's John Henry Tubbs who settled in AR. I want so much to have a picture of my grandmother who I was named after.
I hope to hear from you and share information. I have more on the Tubbs & Branum's if you are interested.

I am interested in information on Matthew Tubb and Elizabeth Hopkins. They were probably married in Perry Count, AL and I found the most recent record for them in the 1850 AL US Census in Attala Co MS.

I am a descendent of both the Southern Tubb line and the Hopkins line, but not from these two individuals.

I am also a direct descendant of William tubbs and Mercy Sprague. I need more information about this family , both ancestors and descendents. Mercy Sprague and her parents did not come on the Mayflower, but probably did on one of the first four. succeeding ships.

Ray was a former district magistrate in the Irwin-North Huntingdon area, a former zoning officer for Westmoreland County,
and a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Marines and Air Force.
Surviving are a son, E. Raymond Tubbs and his wife, Darleen Licina Tubbs, of Monroeville;
granddaughters, Annie and Mary Beth Tubbs;

That is what I thought when I read your post today. WOW. Your John Henry Tubbs was in Cornith,MS Alcorn County MS in 1920 with wife Susie & three of their children. See below. I could not find him on the 1930 census and now I think it might be because he moved to AR and remarried???

Your grandfather was one of my grandmother's brother's. I see where you posted John's wife Susie Ann Ayers on our LINDSE~1 family tree and I was so excited to see it. Mary E. "Mollie" Tubbs Lindsey died in 1917 of the flu leaving her young children and my father was the youngest, about 5. I only had a few rough notes on Mollie's siblings nick or sometimes middle names. It took me years to find her parents and more information on her family. We have no pictures at all on her side of the family. They were the children of Lucien B. Tubbs and Mary Ann Hall. Lucien's sister Mary E. Tubbs b.1853 married my grandfather, Robert Paul Lindsey's oldest brother Frances Marian Lindsey b.1852. I would love to exchange information with you. Alabama TUBBS in Franklin Co. & Colbert Co.

Looking for the ancestors of my G-Grandparents:
Martin G. Tubbs b. Jan 1855 AL and his wife Martha C. (?) b.1854 AL.
They lived in Franklin Co. most of time but possibly ended up in Colbert Co.
Martin's parents were born in AL and may be related to the Walker Co. Tubbs. If so I would like to establish their connection to the "Southern Tubbs clan".

Martha's father was born in TN, mother in MS, and it would be nice to identify her family.

Do any of your folks tie into the NE and Malvern Iowa Tubbs? We come through one of the Samuel Tubbs (late 1700's) & Nathaniel Tubbs 1800's(don't have exact dates at the moment) down to David Franklin Tubbs who died in the Omaha NE area. He is a brother to the more famous Judge Lewis Tubbs. Do you know of an Emma Tubbs Vanderlip out of Lincoln, NE? She mentioned she had a nephew, I think, in Colorado & we have been trying to find him. She showed us pictures of our direct family line when we lived there (1989/1998) She has since passed away & we are anxious to find them. We think her nephew may have them in storage in Colorado. Mary Robinson married a Tubbs in Ky. in abt.1820. They moved to New Albany Floyd Co., Ind. and had several children. I do not know the first name of the Tubbs man she married but I believe they both were born in Ky. and born abt. 1800. Mary Robinson/Tubbs died living with her son Samuel Tubbs in Vanderburgh, Ind. Some of the childrens names born to this marriage were Bluford, Samuel, Amanda, Mary E, Lucinda, Alonzo. Please help if you can. Thank you, Linda b.

Guess what, we're cousins. Your dad, Jerry, is my uncle. Our grandmother, Vera Alline, also passed away while they were living in Blytheville.

I am sure that I can help you get in contact with other members of the family. With the exception of Joe and Brenda, they pretty much settled down in Tennessee -- that is, those that aren't deceased. But you do have a "bunch" of cousins. Feel free to contact me via e-mail (on my profile).

Hello, still looking for burial info on Luther, Sullivan, Myron Tuthill and their families in Trout River, NY. I heard that a cemetery was washed away about 1890 or so ?

Before Burlis passed away he lived in Blytheville Arkansas. I do believe that we heard stories that he and his wife lived in Missouri at one time then later moved to Arkansas. Dont know if I was any help. My father is Jerry Tubbs and lives in Jackson Tennessee.

This is a condition that makes a not in the hand that draws on the ring finger and pinkie finger curling your hand. It is inhiered? It usually dosen't happen till you are in your 60's. I do not know of anyone in my family that has ever had this. The Doctor said maybe someone has had but not as bad as mine and never did anything about it. I really don't know any Tubbs other than my family here in California. Do any of you know of this condition. The Doctor said it's mostly people from Wales.

Yes, I know John Henry Tubbs, he was my grandfather. I never met Hazel but I did know their youngest son, John jr.
My mother is he daughter from his first marriage to Susie Tubbs.

Oh yes, that's the right people! I am excited now!
I have a photo of my grandfather but I would need your email address.
I believe they moved to Ar after my mother was born in 1923 or a few years later.
John Henry & Susie Ayers married Dec. 3, 1911, in Colbet County, Al. moved from there to Mississippi then to Ar. They divorced in 1937, they're youngest child wasn't even a year old. My grandmother never remarried, raised all the kids by herself.

Not sure these are the same people but my grandfather was John Henry Tubbs. My grandmother was Susie Ayers Tubbs. He later remarried a much younger lady by the name of Hazel & they had more children.
But the bith years are not right. I belive my grandfather was born sometime around 1885-1889.
