Hi Herman,
My name is William Talmadge Tuel. My dad is William Ray Tuel, his dad's name is William Clark Tuel, and my Dad's mom is Allice Mercer. So I'm pretty sure that that means your wife is my aunt. If you have any more info about our family I would love to hear it. Especially on the Tuel side.

Thanks.

Thank you for responding! I think this is very possible. I believe that Vincent died prior to his daughter Mary's marriage(1823) as her brother-in-law, William Hall, was listed on the bond. Her father's name was also there with the abbrev. dec'd. after it.
I will get back to you again later after I dig out my research on this line. I am not sure where I learned her mother maybe Lavina. It may have been on-line or from a marr.record.
This is great info. you have shared with me and it re-energizes me to get back to this area of my research. Thanks again for sharing.
Carolyn

Re: Tuel-Stephens KY 1806

I think I may have a match for you on the Tuel/Stephens in Fayette Co. Ky area. I've been working on a descendancy for Charles Tuell and Nancy Fitzgerald and after reading your post I believe Lavina is probably their daughter. Nancy Fitzgerald had a sister named Lavina and she named many of her children after her siblings. Two of the daughters also married Stevens/Stephens ...Stacy Tuell (1784-1866) married John Stephens abt 1800 Fayette Co.She had a daughter she named Lavina. Fanny Tuell born 1792 also married a John Stephens Aug 10, 1812 in Hardin CO. KY. I saw that Vincent shows up in the 1810 Hardin Co. KY census. This is the same migration that Charles Tuell and his family took to Hardin Co. KY by 1807 tax list (1810 census Charles Tewel). Also Vincent is right beside Elijah Tewell (A son of Charles Tuell)in the 1820 census for York, Hardin Co. KY. I'd like to hear more about Lavina and your thoughts on this you can contact me at trevisrtuell@yahoo.com.

Anastasia Tuel was my 4th great grandmother. I have heard that she was a potter of some renown. Can anyone verify this? Would there be any of her pottery still around today? Does anyone know where I might check to find out? She moved from the Maryland area to York County, S.C. so I'm not sure if she would have produced her pottery before or after she moved to S.C. Any help or information appreciated!
Frances

Eli Nelson Tuel

Am searching for information regarding my great grandfather, Eli Nelson Tuel, who died in Scherr, Grant County, West Virginia, in 1948; buried in IOOF Cemetery, Nethken, Mineral County, West Virginia. He married Sarah Elizabeth (Jane) Iman in Grant County in 1903. Eli's death certificate states he was born 1892 in Iowa -- the date is incorrect as that would have made him 11 at the time of his marriage. His death certificate reveals his parents as Elisha M. Tuel and Harriett Barker, but this may also be incorrect. His headstone indicates he was born in 1880. His daughter's delayed birth certificate states he was born in Minnesota. I can't seem to get beyond Eli back through time. Can anyone help? Thanks!

I believe that this Venus may be my great-aunt, daughter of Alexander Tuel and Almira Chevalier. She was born in 1897, which would make her 33 in 1930. I do not know who she may have been married to, but I will ask my mother. I remember visiting Aunt Venus when I was young, and I believe she was in the Milford area at that time, as we were visiting other relatives in the area.

My great great great grandmother was Elizabeth Tuel. She was born in 1778 in Maryland & died 3/20/1851 in Washington DC. She married Andrew Thompson 7/20/1798 in Prince George Co., Maryland.

I see mention of Presley as a first name on the boards & wonder where that comes from. There are a couple of Presleys in Elizabeth's family. I think a grandson & great grandson has Presley for a middle name.

Elizabeth's son, my great great grandfather (Andrew Elliott Thompson) moved to Illinois. Elizabeth died in her son (Henry's) home in Washington DC. Some places in Ancestry they say that Elizabeth was married three times, but I haven't any idea where the information came from.

I have often wondered where the Tuel name comes from. I saw on the boards where some think it's French. I would really like to know what it is.

Pressley Tuel

Helen, my line of descendent is Daniel Tuel and Mary Main; their son Daniel Tuel and Dianna KNIGHT; and their son Elmore Tuel and Ida HOSKINSON who are my great grandparents;
Have primary record proof for children of Daniel Tuel and Mary Main; cannot find proof of parents for Daniel, but suspect it is William; most researchers that I have been in contact with offer info written on family group sheets as proof, but there are no references as to where info was obtained; do believe however, that the Tuels are from the Bull Run area of Virginia.
Am interested in your Pressley as a Pressley is listed in an 1850 census record as probably son of Daniel, but he is not included in the estate settlement of Daniel. Several Tuel researchers have tried to find a connection between a Levi Tuel of Pleasants Co. WVA and Pressley Tuel of Minnesota as several of Levi's children were in same area as Pressley in Minnesota.

You may contact me privately if you like as we probably have much to discuss. email is jlconn@lex.infi.net

Janet Conn

Eli Nelson Tuel

Charles Franklin Tuel was my grandfather. Eli Nelson Tuel was my great-grandfather. My father was Lawrence "Dink" Estel Tuel from Elk Garden. I have some of my grandmother's records and will try to go through them. But I do remember Lewis (Uncle "Luke") lived in the Baltimore area when I was a child -- maybe around 1974-1976. You might start there.
