Marian S. Tufano, 77, beloved mother and grandmother died at her home on Monday (December 1, 2003) in Middletown after a long and courageous battle with emphysema. For most of her life she was a creative and talented homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting and crocheting. She made many beautiful items for her family and won awards for some of her work. In later years she attended nursing school in 1974, married John Tufano Sr. of New Britain, traveled to Hawaii and eventually settled in Westbrook. She enjoyed entertaining relatives and friends at her home on the shoreline and looked forward to vacationing in Florida during the winter. She was devoted to her four children and six grandchildren and will be missed by them all. She leaves behind in life but not in spirit: James W. Shine and his wife, Joyce of Waterbury; Susan H. Millerick and her husband, Mark of Glastonbury; Marianne S. Wuelfing and her husband, Robert of West Simsbury and W. David Tufano and his wife, Mary of Killingly. She is also survived by her grandchildren: James Shine, Michael Henry, Matthew Shine, Jonathan Tufano, Eric Wuelfing and Christopher Tufano. She was predeceased by her husband William C. Shine and her two brothers Alberto Saraceno and Victor Saraceno. She is also survived by her loving sisters Elizabeth Ward, Phyllis Solito, Lillian Sinatra and Theresa Koziol. In addition she is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends from Stonycrest Towers. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 13, at St. Paul's Church, Kensington, CT. at 12 Noon. Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association of CT. or Gaylord Hospital, Wallingford, CT.
