Lamont Turnbow

Lamont Turnbow, 84, of Russellville, died Tuesday, October 22, 2002, at St.
Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

A son of the late A.L. Maude and Elsie Story Turnbow, he was born May 12, 1918,
at Hector. He was a retired carpenter, and was the Pope County Tax Assessor from
1951 through 1954. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving
from 1943 through 1946, and attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Russell-
ville.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Ruth Turnbow; a son and daughter
-in-law, Monty J. and Cynthia Turnbow of Longview, Texas; two daughters and son-
in-law, Danna Miller of Gainesville, Texas, and Rita and Tracy Price of Lamar;
a brother, Lemoyne Turnbow of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Louise Kendrick
of Fort Smith; six grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, Oct. 25 at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev.
Doug Little, Rev. Joe Yates and Bob Trusty officiating. Burial was in Oakland
Cemetery in Russellville, by Shinn Funeral Service.

Active pallbearers were Frank Richter, James Rogers, Bob Trusty, Earl Steen,
Bill Pinion and Charles Cochran.

Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Free Will Baptist Church,
1103 East L Street, Russellville, Ark. 72801.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mr. Turnbow.

Turnbow married J.H.(Harry) Hague in Oklahoma and they had one daughter, b. in 1900.
Ms. (Hague)Turnbow died before 1920 in Oklahoma. Can anyone help me out here?
Her uncle or close relative was said to have been paid $20,000 for some land he sold back in the early 1900's.

I am looking for information about Auvine Turnbow. She was married to my father Victor E. Westerheide,around 1929 they had a daughter,my half sister Betty Ann she passed away in 1984.Apparently they lived and met in Oklahoma. Auvine died in 1943,Victor my father married my Mother in 1945. I have a lot of pictures and letters and information to share with other Turnbow's and would like more for my family tree, I have the names of her parents, her father was a Guard at Huntsville prison. John Turnbow - 1890

I am searching for info on my g-grandfather, John Turnbow. I do not know his birthdate or location. The only infor I have is that he married by G-Grandmother, Mary Francis Short around 1888 in TN or Ark. They apparently settled in Alicia, AR because my grandmother, Edna Jane Turnbow Fryer was born in Alicia in 1890. John Turnbow died around 1892 in AR around Lawrence County.

Hi, Ken, my name is Carol Miller, and I believe we are related. My grandmother was Lucille Turnbow, daughter of George Washington Turnbow and Pearl Nicholson of Brookhaven, Mississippi.

Ive recently begun doing genealogical research and was delighted to find all of the information that you have posted on Ancestry.com. I gather that your mom is the person I heard about during the 1970s who published a history of the Turnbow family and that you have carried on her work. Unfortunately, Ive not been able to find any relatives who bought a copy of the book. Is it still available? What type of information is contained in it? Im especially interested in knowing the sources of the information contained in the family tree.

Does anyone have any information on Zachra Ann Turnbow? She was married to My Great Great Grandfather who was inlisted in Co H 12th Ky Calv. CSA Her Husbands name was W.K.Bazzell I have copies of the widows indegent papers for his pension. She lived in Calloway County Ky in 1912.

Sarah TURNBAUGH LOWDER was a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph TURNBAUGH and was born on a farm near Martinsburg where she spent her girlhood days. She was married to Reuben LOWDER and moved to Misouri. They moved to Atlanta, Kansas in 1876, and in 1899, when Oklahoma came in for settlement, they took a claim ten miles west of Guthrie, where they wer living when Mr. LOWDER died in 1891.
Mrs. LOWDER passed away March 8, 1925, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Rosa SCHOOLING at Atlanta, Kansas. She was the last member of the Joseph TURNBAUGH family and the body was taken to Guthrie, Oklahoma, and buried beside that of her husband.
Six children survive: Mrs. Rosa SCHOOLING, Atlanta, Kansas; Mrs. Ella FELTON, Atlanta, Georgia; Howard LOWDER, Guthrie, Oklahoma; Morris LOWDER, Gold Beach, Oregon; Kinney LOWDER, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Mrs. Alice NELSON, Duncan, Oklahoma; and 26 grch. Mrs. LOWDER was a member of the Baptist Church at
Guthrie, where she lived for 15 yrs. before she went to Kansas to live with her daughter, Mrs. SCHOOLING.
