I have just posted another update to the DNA Project Results Chart.

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~turnerdna/

Click on the word "Results" on the left of the screen.

There were just a few additions.

Kit #117547 is for a second descendant of William Arvest Turner b c 1796 Edgefield Co. SC d c 1870 Edgefield Co. SC married Apselah McDaniel. This was through his son Henry Milledge Turner. The first result was from his son George Samuel Turner. They were a perfect 37/37 marker match so we know that we definitely have a reliable DNA signature for William Arvest Turner. William Arvest Turner has one known sibling, Henry Council Turner born just before 1800. They do not match any Turners at this point. Only matches are to the Oliver surname. I have formed a new Group 34 (called Seafoam) and they are now grouped together.

Additional markers have been added for the following kits:

#115534 for the line of Washington Turner b 1777 probably in NC d 1842 in Ralls Co. MO married Lucy C. Brown 1820 in Halifax Co. NC. The marriage to Lucy Brown may be a second marriage but proof is needed. We have located a reference to his War of 1812 Service which places him in a unit drawn from Bertie Co. NC. This line is a good match to the DNA of the Humphrey Turner line of Scituate, MA and has been placed in Group 29 -- Deep Purple. Could he be a descendant some way of Thomas Turner said to have been a grandson of Humphrey Turner who moved from Scituate, MA to NC? There is a deed in Bertie Co. NC records confirming Thomas Turner of Scituate, MA purchased land.

#26997 for the line of Richard T. Turner b 1805 NC d c1857 in Franklin Co. AR. For the present time, I have not assigned this kit to a group yet (still in our No Group). However, it appears we are beginning to see the development of a group of related lines that at least one of them can be documented to Northampton Co. NC and perhaps going back to or related to some lines in Isle of Wight Co. NC. The results for Richard T. Turner's descendant on 37 markers is close to the line on 25 for the descendant of John Turner of Northampton Co. NC married to Patience Lassiter. This line then moved to the area of SC that became Winton/Barnwell Co. SC. He is also a close match to the line of Collins Turner who may be a descendant of a Wilkinson/Wilkerson Turner who settled York Co. SC. The test for the descendant of John Turner (spouse Patience Lassiter) is waiting for markers 26-37 to be completed.

#113654 for the line of William Turner b c 1770 VA married to Susannah Bailey. This is said to the grandparents of James "Devil Jim" Turner and some of the Harlan/Knox Co. KY group of Turners. I have placed this line in Group 5 (Teal). This should provide some postive leads for people researching this line back in Virginia.

Those of you who watch the results chart regularly may notice that there has been a change in several of the notations for the Haplogroup. This is the result of the newly updated Y-chromosome haplogroup tree. This may make it appear that we have people in a group with different haplogroups. However, some of those in a group have had deep SNP testing done and some of them have had what is called a "backbone SNP" done if there was any possible ambiguity as to which basic haplogroup the result belonged.

While the name of the haplogroup a person belongs to may change, and future changes may continue as more haplogroup branches are discovered and published, their actual DNA testing results and interpretation remain the same.
