I am looking for relatives of 1st Lt. Allen R. Turner, US Army Air Forces, of Norfolk County, Massachusetts. He was born about 1920 in Ohio. His listed next of kin was his wife, Eleanor Turner of 139 Davis Avenue in Brookline. According to his US Army enlistment record, he enlisted in the US Army Air Forces in Boston on April 21, 1942. He was serving as the pilot of a C-109 tanker aircraft (serial number 44-49628) when it went missing in the China-Burma-India theater of operations of World War II on July 17, 1945. He and the rest of his crew, who were assigned to the 1330th Army Air Force Base Unit, were declared "presumed dead" on July 18, 1946. On October 22, 2007, independent investigator Clayton Kuhles reported to the Defense Department that he had located and visited the crash site of this aircraft near the town of Bishmaknagar, on the side of a mountain, in the northeastern Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. 1st Lt. Turner is memorialized on the Tablets of the Missing at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
