The Early History of the Rebsamen Family

Sandi Edgar  (View posts) Posted: 29 Nov 2000 6:41AM GMT
Help! I found a site with a very interesting "Early History of the Rebsamen Family" on the internet in December of '99. My printer cut off the address at the bottom of the page, and my computer crashed shortly thereafter, and I lost all my bookmarks and favorites. I cannot find this site again...it looks like Egeneology (that is the way the spelling on genealogy was), but I cannot pull this site up again...it had great info on Hans, Beat and Rudolf...even a petition for land and bounty, and a will. If anyone knows of this history and where I can find it on the net, please contact me at my email address. I am also looking for information on Jackson Turnipseed, son of John, grandson of Christopher of PA. I have conflicting marriages for him...some reports say he was married to Sarah Colton, some say Sarah Ann(Ellen) Randolph....he has a son, John, who was married to Lavinia Curtis, and there are descrepancies as to the date of John's birth. If you have any information, please contact me at my email addy. Thanks, Sandi Edgar

Early Rebsamen History

I beleive you are referring to the Web site that Virgil Williams had created. I printed all of it, but have not been able to access it lately. Hopefully, he will make it available again in the future. I had all the same info already, but he has done a good job of presenting it for all to see. As you probably know, the connection of your Christopher Turnipseed to the two emigrant brothers from Switzerland has not yet been found. Also, there were there were two separate Turnipseed family groups, the other being from Germany, with the untranslated name more frequently spelled "Reibensamen", or something close, as opposed to the "Rebsamen" spelling most commonly used by Hans and Beat Rebsamen from Switzerland, and their ancestors. Also, there was a third "Rebsamen" kinsman who came from Switzerland...maybe another brother to Hans and Beat. Hopefully, someone will find the documenation to connect Christopher Turnipseed to the right one of there folks in the future. Does anyone out there know of any recent discoveries along these lines? If so, please let the rest of us know.

David, thank you for the information. I was wondering why I could not bring up that site again. I have not been doing much on trying to connect Christopher to Hans or Beat Rebsamen....getting stuck on Jackson Turnipseed instead....I hope there will be some connection made to earlier ancestors soon. Thanks again for the info.

Thanks for the reply to my message. Know it has been quite some time since you answered, but want to thank you for your answer. Do you still need some info on the Fedric side of the family? Will be glad to let you know what I can if you will email me. Thanks so much.

Hello Mr. Fedric, my name is Justin and like you said we must be related. I am 25 years old and live in New Mexico. Im not sure if you've been in contact with my grandfather or not. He is Albert Fedric of Elephant Butte, NM. My dad is Ron Fedric. My dad is pretty big into the research of our geaneology, and I'm pretty sure I've heard your name. My grandpa always said that his family came over with Lafayatte, and he is from Lousiana. I think my Great grandfathers name was John Fedric, but I'm not to sure. I just wanted to let you know that we probably are related somewhere along the line. My # is 505-354-8904, my Dad's, Ron, is 505-437-4732, and my Grandpa's # is 505-744-5705, if you might need something. Thanks and hope to hear from you. Justin Fedric

David,

You said you had records on Turnipseeds in Mississippi. I am looking for records on when and where Dr. Felix Benjamin Turnipseed died. This Felix is my husband's great grandfather. His lineage is Beat, his son Felix, his son Daniel, his son Felix, his son Newton and his son Felix. Any information you have would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nancy
