David: I am researching the Turkett, Nipper, Turnipseed familities some of whom came from Virginia to Richland Dist.
S. C. Mary Sybil Turkett married a Samuel Nipper and upon his death become known as the Widow Nipper. Several families including the Turketts, Nippers, and Turnipseeds moved to Henry County, GA. Mary Sybil's mother Winnifred Turkett married a Busbee. In her will of 1806 she left items to Mary and Peter, children and Asa and William, grandsons.
Mary Sybil Turkett Nipper later married John B. Turnipseed and they had a child named Mary Polly Turnipseed. For me all of these names have a loose connection, and I have bits and pieces of information. In 1838 William Albert Turkett married Ebby Isabella Write (Wright), their first child was Joseph William Turkett who was my great grandfather. After William Albert's death in 1854 or 1856, Isabella moved her family to Whitfied County, GA. and still later to Prentice Co.
Mississipp. Joseph William who married a Martha Ella Peppers from Murray County, GA moved his family to Hunt Co. Texas, where Martha Ella died and J. W. later married a Deliah Hicks. They had three children. My grandfather was from the first JW and ME family. My father was Tom H. Turkett who lived in Vernon, Texas. My wife and I are retired university teachers. A side note. A high school classmate of my wife is Alta Flowers Birdsong who lives in Dunwoody. Would you by chance know them. I look forward to hearing from you, maybe just maybe your research will be the missing link that will solve the mystery of the missing twigs from the Turkett Family Tree. Have a great day and happy holiday season. A. Keith and Shirley Turkett
