Hello,
My Tutas ancestor was said to have been in the Prussian Army. He was born in Poland near the Russian/lativian border. The name could be Lativian. My grandmother was the youngest of thirteen Tutas children. That was her father. The mother did die young. Apparently, it may have been a suicide or an abortion attempt, according to my aunt who had had a conversation about it with her sister. This man was said to have been extremely violent. He lived on a farm in Wisconsin and at least one of my grandmother's sisters did go to Ohio. That would be one of his daughters. The brothers and sisters did separate and according to my grandmother, who died 4 years ago, she was the last one still living. Some of them may have stayed behind in the old country when the family emigrated before the WWI. Some of the birth records of the Tutas children can be found on ancestry.com, as it was so long ago. Maybe you will find your ancestors there.
