It's possible that he signed up for the CW in TN. There were a lot of William Tyree's around at that time and it is hard to distinguish for sure which one is the one you are looking for. My William Tyree b. @1839 lived in Scott Co., VA. He mustered into the CW (Union) in Hancock Co., TN. He then went to Rockcastle Co., KY for a number of years and spent the later years of his life in Crawford Co., IN.

The information I have, he was born in North or South Carolina Oct 6th 1840 and died in Cane Hill Ark Sept 6 1906. My family had always thought he had lived in Tenn? Maybe he signed up for the Civil War in Tenn? Debbie

Hi William Tyree born in 1840 was my great grandfather and was in the civil war. This could be the person that was mustered out. We don't even know what side he fought on. My brother has Williams issued civil war rifle but that is all we know about the Tyree family. The line stops with him. If you have any information about that line, it would be greatly appreciated. In 1960 and 1961 I was station in Ft Benning Ga. I had two freinds from Hazard area named Tyree & Pack I have always wanted to located them after all this time.

We came home togather on weekends they let me off in London, Ky and picked me up on Sundays on the way back

Meridith C. Tyree born May 17, 1806 in Franklin County, Virginia, died November 17, 1867 and is buried in Van Alstyne Cemetery in Grayson County, Texas. His wife, Susan Tyree is buried alongside him. She was born December 25, 1823 in Kentucky and died May 15, 1904. In 1850 Meridith and Susan are living in Clear Creek Township of Washington County, Arkansas. Susan is found in Collin County, Texas in 1880 and 1900 living with William and John McKinney.
Is anyone on the board researching Meridith Tyree? I am searching for his parents and trying to connect him to other Tyree families in Arkansas and Texas.

Garland Tyree is shown on the Arkansas Tax List in 1828, 1830, 1832 and 1835 in Lower Township, Crawford County, Arkansas Territory. Who was Garland Tyree? Is he connected to John (born 1789) and/or Robert Tyree (born 1797), both born in Virginia, who are found in Hempstead County, Arkansas or is he connected to Daniel Tyree(born abt 1775 in Virginia) who came to the Arkansas Territory by 1819 when Daniel and Garland Tyree appear as grand jurors in a court proceeding. This information is found in "Court of Common Pleas and Circuit court 1819-1822 from Hempstead, Arkansas Territory". Is there anyone on the board who connects to any of the above mentioned people?

The parents of Clara/Clarinda Tyree were Daniel C. Tyree and Mariah Whiteside. Daniel C. and Mariah were married June 20, 1850 in Hempstead County Arkansas. Daniel and Mariah are buried in Midway Cemetery, Nevada County, Arkansas. I think the parents of Daniel was John Tyree and Clarinda Davenport. I would like to learn more about this Tyree family.

Elbridge Tyree and his wife nannie Carson Tyree, my great grandparents
Maud Tyree daughter of Elbridge and nannie
Varney and his wife Ethel son of Elbridge and nannie
Billy Wayne Miller 2yr old son of Nelson and Lee Ora Tyree Miller. These are all in the Tyree Plot. Over the hill in a newer section is another daughter of Henry's Joetta Tyree Rogers. If the each of the several families lines of Tyree's had a living male TYREE descendant who would apply at "ftdna dot com" for the 67 marker test, we would know which family lines are related and their origin.
I have done this, but Tyree was my mother's father, so it does not help the Tyree Clan.

I am a descendant of a female Tyree from Western Ky, whose ancestors immigrated to Franklin Co., VA from Scotland about 1650.

My mother has a genealogy OF this Tyree familypublished called "Kissin'Cousins" by Virgi Tyree Bailey.

Please help sort out the origins of the Tyree's by getting a yDNA test! The best choice is ftdna - and get 67 markers tested, plus your Deep SubClade Haplogroup. If you need help with this, let me know!

Does anyone have any relationship to the Tyree family that lived in Garrard County, Ky. Their son William E Tyree was born about 1805 in Kentucky. He married Telitha Sebastian in KY moved sometime later to Franklin County, Missouri. Their daughter Nancy married Thomas Phillips. Thomas served in the Civil War. Telitha, Nancy and Thomas are buried in Crocker, MO. Anyone who has any information on these family members please contact

Thank you so much for your reply back. I only know of James O. Tyree abt. 1868/70, but I found in in VA, 1900-1920, now he was nego. He was married to Willie Lee lawson, and then in 1920, I found him with my great grandmother Ella Mea Tyree abt. 1893, I don't know her Madian name. I would love to find her. On the census she was listed as mul, I saw in the census there was a Brown family next door, but I think they were brown's. Just to ask would you have family in ROANOKE, VA? and any mixed blood lines. Our family are all mixed in color. lesleyspcc
