Robert Wayne Tysl, 65, retired speech and theater professor and lifelong Chicagoan, died Sunday. Mr. Tysl founded the Harper Players at Harper College in Palatine, where he taught from 1968 until his retirement in 1987. He taught at Roosevelt High School in Chicago from 1952 until 1968, and he was a frequent judge in speech and theater festivals. Mr. Tysl held four degrees, including a doctorate in theater and mass media from Michigan State University and a master`s degree in speech and theater from the University of Michigan. He also took courses at universities around the world. Mr. Tysl is survived by a sister. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral Home, 330 W. Golf Rd., Schaumburg.
