Hello! I trace our family tree back to Deans in Ohio and to George Soule who came to Plimoth in 1620 aboard the Mayflower. But we also have a Tyus branch whose ancestor, John Tyus, was in Jamestown and James City County, Virginia, early in the Seventeenth Century. Lucy Tyus of that family married a Burwell Green, and the Greens are a link through Elizabeth Gibson to the Freemans who are MY maternal ancestors. My grandmother, Elizabeth Theodotia Freeman, was born in Brownsville and married James Robert Beard. They settled in Poinsett County, Ark. Her father, Foster I.F. Freeman of Ashville, Ala., served in an Alabama regiment (10th, Wilcox's Brigade) in the Civil War, mostly in Va. and at Gettysburg, until his surrender with other Confederates at Appamattox Cthse. in 1865. Hope this helps.
