i am a descendent of harm meiners ubben, the one who was married to almina ubben, than married christina jurgens buhr after almina died. my problem is that i dont know if i am from almina and harm or christina and harms bloodline. a daughter born to harm was named almina minnie ubben, born on feb. 20, 1881 in Meinersfehn, Germany and died in roby texas, fisher,county on sept 20,1950, harm would be my great, great, grandfather,they immagrated to ellis island,new york and she married william frank polk when she was 18, they had two children a daughter named annie jane polk(my grandmother) and a son william a polk. she died in roby in 1950 and her husband died in 1939.

my family has been in the ackley iowa area for many years. my grandfathers name was tako ubben. that family had 13 children. they ealier lived in the dumont iowa area, 10 miles north of ackley.

Hermann had five siblings: i.e., Anna Catharina Maria Hömme, Johann Gerhard Hömme, Joan Henrich Hömme, Luzia Margareta Elizabeth Hömme and Gerhard Friedrich Hömme. Note* In America the Hömme surname may be spelled Homm.

Meena had six siblings: Helena Jürns Schoon, Jan Jürns Schoon, Almt Jürns Schoon, Thaalke Juergens Schoone, Geeske Jürgens Schon, and Wübcke Jürns Schoon. Note* The Schoon surname may be morphed to Schoone, Schon, Schön or Schoen.

Hi Renee!!

I was looking thru the message boards, and your post caught my attention. I have some information you are looking for. Not a whole lot, but it's a little bit.

My great-great-great grandfather was Dirk Ubbens who's mother passed a way when he was very young. I don't have any information on siblings, but he was adopted by his mother's brother whose last name was Beving. Unfortunately this is all the information I have.

I am just starting to delve deeper into my history.

Hi, my great grandfather was Deitrich Ubben. My father Dick Chance, was named after him and now I have a nephew named Deidrick.

Looking for info on Ubina or Bena Ubben. Born abt 1836 or 1840
died 1921 in Iowa. Her stone where she is buried only states grandma Schultz. Her husband was Frederick Schultz and he died around 1882 or so.Haven't found where he's buried at though. any help would be appreciated. Also is there a Beving connection because some have her maiden name as Beving. Renee'

I am looking for info on a Ubina/ Bena Ubben. In searching I've noticed some have her maiden name as Beving. She was my grandmother's grandma and she told me the last name was Ubben.

Hello, great to hear from someone. Howard was my grandfather. My record does have a brother George but does have a brother William Conner Ubben born 11-25-1911 Died 9-22-1953. I would love to compare information.

Think you have the OSB Holtland. Nr. 1064 shows birth/death of 1. child Jann Gerhard.
But also says: Hömme, Hermann Gerhards = OSB Hesel Nr. 1906

I am replying to an older post about the Johannes Herlyn & Eva Ybeltje UBBEN and their 10 children born in Ackley Iowa.

I have some copies of the birth and death pages of the German Bible they brought with them and was handed down to my Grandmother Grace Louise Limberg (dau. of Gay Geeske UBBEN). Same info as Christy has But if anyone wants copies please let me know here. They are in real pretty writing with the German names. I remember my Grandmother telling me the American names as we looked at it

Christy can I get the sources for the 2 generations back in Germany? We didn't have all that you have on that and it fills in 8 generations for me. Do you know burial places or obits for any? Thank you for your time!!

I recently found this obituary in my grandparents old family bible.
It was mailed to my grandfather from Mr. Ubben's daughter, Mrs. Dale Kimpel, on 18 Mar 1967.
It mentions his wife, Lena Marie Hemje, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Ubben.
Apparently Mr. Ubben was a WWI buddy of my grandfather, Jim Autry.
I'd be glad to forward a copy should anyone be interested.

I Think I might have what you are looking for.
My gggrandparents were Wolter and Grace Ubben that came from germany in 1885.
Their 3rd child's name was Ben and he settled near Webster City, Iowa. Waolter and Grace lived near Kamrar, Iowa.
Ben had 19 cildren and I have a record of the children's names, but not of ben's grandchildren.

Wolter and Grace would be your great great grandparents, same as in my case.
Ben was their third child and my great grandmother was Rickste their third child, Ben's older sister.
I am sure that I have probably met some of your closer relatives.
The only info. I have on Walter Ubben is that he was born 9-16-1905, married 4-16-1932 to Gladys Johnson and that he had three children.
I think that we have the same booklet, it was written as a history of Paul Ubben by his mother Sharon Ann (King) Ubben. It is in need of updating. If you are interested, maybe we can work together along with others on this message board that are related to us to update the information, add to it and get it published again.

There is an Ubbe Ubben in my family tree that was born in 1875 in Tichelwarf, Ostfreisland, Germany.
There is also an Ubbe Ubben that was suspected to be my great great grandfather's brother. He resided in
I believe Titonka, Iowa, or at least his children lived there.
According to my information this Ubbe was born in 1849 in Germany and married a woman named Grace who was born in 1851 in Germany.
Could there be a connection?

Howard & Donna, thank you for the reply. I know who your great grandfather was as he was my fathers uncle. My father has a picture somewhere of willaim, howard, and one other bother I can't recall. They where all from Marion & Peabody Kansas and there still are some of their sisters around Lincolnville & Ferdona. Unfortunately, I do not have any information regarding Peter K Ubben except for the names of his sibblings and a few dates. I do however have information about his parents, and about two generations back on the Ubben line, if you seek this information. The family line goes back to Rysum in Hanover, Germany.

He was William Edward the son of William Conyers the son I think George or deitrich.They all were from Kansas and were decendants of Walrich Ubben & Ellen Lymanstull. My Ubben information goes back to 1771 Meinert Ubben of Stapel Ockenhous, Prussia and his wife Almt Almina Harms. They had five children, Harm Caspers meinert Ubben, Heilke Ubben, Moeder Ubben and Ubbe Ubben. The youngest daughter Gretje Ubben Married a man named Abraham Frerichs in or around Etzel Ostfriesland. One of their many children, Anna Frerichs was my GGGrandmother.

Claus G. YSKER, 84, of Windom, died Sunday at Windom Hospital. He had farmed all of his life in the Bingham Lake area until he retired and moved to Windom about ten years ago.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from Jeffers Baptist Church. The Rev. Elton Bleeker officiatiad. Interment was in the Mt. Lake Cemetery.

Pallbearers were George and Vern Johnson, John Heern, Robert and Dennis Ysker, Earl Tyler. Mrs. Elton Bleeker served as organist and a men's trio, the Carlblom brothers sang.

Mr. Ysker was born Feb. 17, 1886 in Rezum, Germany, the son of John and Pearl Ysker. He came to the United States with his family at the age of four.

In 1912, he was married to Marie HARDER. She died in 1914 and on Aug. 30, 1915 he married Mabel UBBEN. She preceded him in death on May 21, 1970.

Mr. YSKER is survived by three daughters: Mrs. George (Mary) WILLIAMS, Russell, Minn., Mrs. Joseph (Mathilda) TOWNSEND of Los Angeles, Mrs. Marion HENDERSON of Tallahassee, Fla.; two sons, Henry of Wilder and William of Bingham Lake; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers; Vern and William T. both of Windom; three sisters, Mrs. Bruno REINTS of Windom, Mrs. James CLARK of Woodburn, Ore., Mrs. Emil THOR of Razorback, Ark.

My great-grandmother's name was Minnie Ubben. She was born 1884. She married Teddie T. DeBoer in Titonka,IA in 1906. She had two children, Ubbe and Ted before she died in 1910. Do you have any more information on Minnie that would match?
