I found a daniel who left ny in early 1800s went to new orlnes .sory not a good speller.he came from staatsbug 80 miles north of manhatten.I am having the same problum I did find who ithink might be my famly who came in 1710 and they had grandson or great grandson named danal i just found this information and im away in the information i have the last name was ohle

joyce my grandmother was elise caroline vonmuererslyons . she married frederich uhl when she was in her 80s. she had a dasughter named elise maragaret lyons, my father my grandmother elise caroline was james e lyons she had another son also. im named after this grandmother. i hope u get this and reply. joyce would like to get to know you. grandpop fred as we knew him was a beautiful person. god bless.

The Theresa Uhl that I am searching for married a Baer? Lived in Philadelphia as far as I can tell until at least 1946, maybe longer. Husband was a Joseph? Whereabouts unknown according to paperwork I have dated 1945/1946. Her daughter was Dorothy Baer. Dorothy apparently married NUMEROUS times and gave a number of children up for adoption. I know of my mother, her 3 brothers, and a sister so far. We have found them but no information or clues about Dorothy.

I forgot to tell you that, there is a book that the Mormons hold. The name of the Book is The History of the Four Families . I found it by going to familysearch.com. Go to the library . If you have no luck I'll look it up again. If you have a family center near by . You can order the book for 6.00 . I held my copy at my family history canter that cost about 12.00 . I don't know that much about the Uhl's. All I can tell you is George Uhl was married to Williameena DeSteager and their daughter was Mary Malvina Uhl my ggg great grandmother. If google David Uhl there is some pictures from Germany . He visited The little town where the Uhl's Started .

I am a descendant of Joseph Uhl born 1828 (birthdate unknown) He was from Bavaria and immigrated to America around 1850. He settled in southern Indiana and married Franziska Ferber( her father was Joseph) in 1856. He had the following children: 1)Joseph Uhl jr. (my great grandfather) born 1860 and died in 1931; he married Margaret J. Nolot; 2) John George born January 1863; 3) Mary Elizabeth born 1864; 4) Anna P. born April 21,1866; 5) Caroline born around 1868; Matilda born about 1871. I have noticed in different UHL message boards, a lot of Uhl families have similar names to our Uhls. I am trying to find out whose parents Joseph sr. were. I would think the father might either be Joseph or John George since the first two child were Joseph and John George. I was wondering if you still have the film that you had mentioned in your message. If you do, I was hoping if you have time to look up and see if Joseph's name is in there. That would be great if he was. I am doing this for my mother who is in a nursing home. Any help from you would be greatly appreciated. Dan

Dan: Our Uhl's immigrated from Baden, Germany (according to US census) about 1854 and settled in St. Joseph County and LaPorte County, Indiana. Our great, great grandfather was Frederick, Friedrich Uhl, born about 1835. We have not been able to find his parents or any of his siblings. Is there a chance that your Johann Geog Uhl ancestors are related to our Frederick Uhl?

If I remember right you were waiting for me to organize the records I had found that I couldn't fit into my line. I did that but all are from my Mueller line except one. There are very many Mueller records that I have not figured out how they fit into my line yet but just the one Uhl.

On the 14 Oct 1864 died Matthias Uhl and was buried on the 16 Oct 1864. He reached the age of 72 years.

On the 16 Jan 1866 died Anna Maria Uhl, nee Nerbass, she was buried on the 18 Jan 1866. She is the wife of Matthias Uhl. She reached the age of 74 years.

On the 29 Feb 1848 died and was buried on the 3 Mar 1848 in Hillesheim, Christina Uhl, the single daughter of Matthias Uhl, a farmer in Hillesheim and wife Anna Maria Nehrbass. She was 22 years old, one month and 18 days.

If I remember right I traced my Uhls to Hillesheim and then to Dahlheim.

Charles/Carl Uhl in Berks Co

I have not been able to locate the Berks Co place where the Uhl family lived in the period after leaving ?West Philadelphia (Blockley) and moving to the Maryland/Pa border between Wellersburg Pa and Mt Savage Md.(other than the Grenwich twnshp 1790 census, the church records in the Zion and Merks churches and the military muster records for private then corporal Charles Uhl)

I have identified tax records from this time, but no evidence of land ownership..

Does anyone have clues about the exact place where the Uhl family (ies) lived in this area? Any record of land ownership there? Occupation (farming, I assume)?

Thanks for any information that you might have..

Information about Carl and Charles Uhl

I have been trying to address several questions re the immigrant J Carl/ "Charles" Uhl and his son Charles.

1) Does anyone have information about where the family lived in Philadelphia prior to moving to Berks Co (Greenwich)? I have seen a request for land from "Charles Uhl, Yoman of Blockley" which was the western part of Philadephia where the U Penn now stands (1767) and an indenture of Charles (10 years old) in 1771 (agreement made in Philadelphia).

2) Does anyone know if the militia records from Berks Co for Charles Uhl mustering at the time of the revolutionary war were for Carl or for the younger Charles?

I have found Berks Co tax records listing Charles Uhl beginning 1770 (and records are missing for 1769, so move might have taken place then). There are extensive church records. There is 1790 census record for Charles Uhl(e) in Greenwich, Berks Co. However, I have found no land ownership records or location.

3) Does anyone have more exact information about the locations where Charles/Carl lived in Phil or in Berks Co, prior to moving to Allegheny Co closer to his death?

4) Does anyone know if the son Charles Uhl accompanied or fought in the revolution along with the units to which his master (J Shallus) fought? (Shallus lived on Second St near Vine during at the beginning of the revolution, so I assume that Charles lived at this site for at least some of this time.

I am from the Johann Valentine Uhl line his son Johann Carl Uhl was married 25 Feb 1748 in the church in what is now Dalheim, Hessen, Germany. He married Anna Margaretha Dunewich. They came to America in 1764.

When did your line them come to America or the US? Have you visited Dalheim? In this URL: http://www.dalheim-rheinhessen.de/ the church tower has been moved other wise it is a beautiful church inside. Said to be built before 1400.

I don't know where the Uhls were from. However, I know where most of the other Catholic families at St. Michael's were from, and they may have been from nearby. Aside from Ferber, do you know who they associated with when they first came over? For instance, who were the Godparents of the Uhl and Ferber children, and who was they were Godparents for? That should be available in the baptismal records at St. Michael's, as well as the records of St. Mary's and Holy Family in New Albany, St. Mary of the Knobs or St. Mary's at Lanesville.

Thank you very much for responding to my posting. I so very appreciate it when someone takes the time to respond to older postings!!

I was able to find more info on John Henry Uhl...there is a woman who published a great deal of information on John Henry and I was able to get a copy of her book. I found John's death info at the Noble County GenWeb site...however, it appears that this website is no longer in existence...at least it wasn't a few weeks ago...but fortunately I printed the information from the site when it did work. I am still entering all of the data into my records...there is so much of it...I doubt I will ever get it done!!

I am not a direct relative to the Uhl family...I am connected through marriage...my link comes through the marriage of Emory Uhl (s/o George Uhl and Rosella Evers) and Gladys Rymal - Gladys is the sister of my great-grandfather...however, my mother lived with "Aunt Gladys" for years..and she was a very important part of our lives growing up...even though I never met her. I feel like she was more like our grandmother, than our grandmother was.

Bennedict (often spelled with a k on the end) was Joseph's Uncle. Joseph's father was Franz 'Joseph' Uhl who died in 1863 in Lancaster County. He had 2 brothers (at least) Antonio and Benedict. Your Joseph was my ggg - grandmother's brother.

Yes, I would like to see the death certificate. I believe we are talking of the same person. I saw a family tree posted by Marksher showing George's death in 1924. George was the only sibling listed. Assumption is list is incomplete. I looked at the 1870 census listing Joseph and Justine and it showed Benedict, age 72 residing with them. Could he have been Joseph's father or an Uncle? It stated Baden as place of origin. Appreciate all your help.

My grandparents were Marvin and Doris Uhl and the resided in Castroville Texas. I have a copy of Death Cert. George Uhl d.Nov 1865 and it does show Justina and Joseph as his parents with Clement as the informant. Of course Justina is spelled Eustine Gully...I think I have run into about five differant versions of her name. I'll e-mail it to you if you would like.

Hello. I saw your inquiry from last year. I'm wondering if you ever got anymore information on John Henry Uhl. He was my great-great-great grandfather. His daughter, Anna Maria (born in 1838), married Peter Seibert Jr.

Please let me know if you find anything prior. I understand that he was married to Elizabeth Linn (1803-1885), a daughter of John and Margaretta Linn. I also have John Henry's dates as 1795-1848.

He was born in Germany, as was Elizabeth.

My great grandfather was Thomas Nedolast who was born about 1840 in Germany and died in 1904 in New Washington, OHio. He married Anna Wenzlick (Wiezlick) who was also born in Germany. John Nedolast was Thomas's father. John was born around 1812. He married Mary Yocklin. No other information about them. If you know of any, please let me know.

It's almost a certainty that we are distant cousins since I've learned that all in Frittlingen are related.

I am researching the Uhl branch of the family that originated in Dalheim (Johann Heinrich Uhl b. bef. 1727 married Anna Elisabetha Eberle b. bef. 1729) and then moved to Landestreu, in the Galizien province of Austria in the 1770s.
Would like to comminicate with other Uhls from Dalheim.

looking for info on James Elroy Uhl (b.23 Aug 1868 d. 1945 in MI) he married Lillian Moore. looking for info on his father James Uhl (b.11 Oct 1845 d.4 Oct 1917) he married Lura Jane Williams and his father Peter Uhl from Sandorf Prussia and his family.....I found a Peter Uhl with 14 children....unsure if he's my guy and no info on Peter's parents.
