I found this old message you posted in response to who Charlie Ullem might be. You suggested the Ulum Ross family in the Texas area. I am a decendent of that Texas family. Florence Ulum/Ross was born in Missouri and died in Oklahoma. She was married to Charlie Ross. I am trying to find out more about both of them. Could you help me with that?

Thanks
Jamie Munoz

Sarah Alice V Ullum married Joseph C Farni Jr. b. 16 May 1866 in Farnisville, IL.
His parents were:
Joseph C. Sr. Farni, b Mar 1825 in Pennsylvania.
Catherine Unknown, b 1834 in Canada.
In Hanover, Pennsylvania there was a group of Farney families descended from Johan Adam Forney. He emigrated from Wachenheim-in-the-Haardt, in Alsace/Lorraine in 1721. I believe that our Joseph Sr. was one of them and changed the spelling of his name.
My mother says that Joseph E, her grandfather, had won a slot in the Lottery for the Oklahoma Land Rush. She said that is how the Farni's wound up in Oklahoma.

Could be. The Ross family of Florence Ulum and Charles Ross tell the story that William Ulum lived in Mangum, Greer Co., OK. They visited the Ross family in McClain County, OK, and William's son, Carl (is he the same as Charles?), moved to Bisbee, AZ, to work in the mines a little before 1920. I found them there in the census. With him went Mollie (Ross) Robinson and her daughter Berniece. Charles Ross and Florence followed too, leaving sons in McClain behind with the senior Robinsons. The Rosses didn't stay in AZ, though, returning to OK and TX in a few years. I think the Texas family of Ross and Wolf might have some pictures that would be helpful.

Ullom Family History

I am researching my Ullom family name. I recently found lots of information on Silas Ullom, and have some information to add. Sherman Peter Ullom (Silas's child) was married to Doris Madaline (Martin) Ullom West. Doris was my great-grandmother. Doris and Sherman had Kathleen Virginia (Ullom) Miller, dob 7-31-1911 in McMechen WVa and dod 5-25-1986, she was my grandmother. Raymond dob or dod not known at this time, but died when he was 5. Harold dob or dod is not known at this time, and died when he was just a few months old. Doris Juanita (Ullom) Rom, dob 7-2-1914, and is still alive. I noticed that Sherman Ullom's 6 children were unknown, he only had 4 with Doris. I imagine the other 2 were from Rebecca Glover. I would be interested in as much information as anyone can give me on the family history. Please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you.

My paternal Great Grandmother Lisette (Gladys) Smith Ullom was William Anderson Ullom's second wife. Their youngest son Donn Piatt Ullom wrote me about William Anderson Ullom's first marriage to Lydia Linderman. This marriage lasted long enough to produce a son Franklin Ullom, but not much longer and ended in divorce. Don did not know of Franklin until about 1922 or 1923 when Franklin and his new wife Mathilda came to live with them at Farrell, Pa. Franklin became dissatisfied, however at thier home and returned to Indianapolis, Ind. where his mother was living. Donn reports that they never heard of him again.

Any information you can share on Franklin Ullom or William Anderson Ullom is appreciated.

Chris,
I am researching the possibility that my great-grandfather was born Bartley Thomas Woolam and his twin Obediah S. but both were married for some reason with the Chappell surname.
They were born Jan. 12, 1860 , live in Attala and Lowndes Co., MS. They supposedly had a brother Frank that was a few years older. I have found a Frank Woolam (Woolum at times ) and his family in MS and his death noted in TN. My mother remembers an Emmett Woolam visiting with her mother and his son Bernie Lamar gave her a picture of himself in Army uniform around 1934.
I would appreciate it if you could ask your elderly relative if any of this sounds familiar to him.
Burline
