Violet Umfleet, age 75 of Galion, passed away Thursday morning October 8, 2008 at home.
Violet was born February 12, 1933 in Olive Hill, Kentucky to Estil and Lithe (Abrams) Fife. An Ohio resident the majority of her life, she lived in the Mansfield and Galion area. A homemaker, Violet attended church in Bucyrus and enjoyed gardening, spending time with her family especially her grand and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Virgil Hively (Yvonne) of Galion, Debra Phelps of Mansfield, Paul (Paula) Owens of Mansfield, Lori Adkins of Wooster and Brenda O'Neil of Kentucky; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruby Polson of Tenn., Mary Williams of Galion and Sarah Kindler of Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Melvin Umfleet.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday October 12, 2008 at Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby. Reverend Joel Sanchez will officiate with internment in Mansfield Memorial Park.
