Looking for any information on Captain Charles Underhill in Bosque County, Texas. He and wife Martha (Woodruff) Moore Underhill appear to have got divorced after 1860. He remained in Bosque County where in 1860 he was on the census, and she and their two children were in Robertson County. I would be interested in descendants and burial places of Charles and Martha. What happened to them after 1860? They married in Brazoria County and lived in Galveston County in 1850. He married after the divorce, to Margaret Ann McKenzie (in Bosque County?).

there may not be any connection but I have an ancestor John Underhill (b. 1840) in England. In 1846 he was given a Bible by his grandfather John Underhill a Baptist Minister (Liverpool) according to the note in the front of the Bible printed 1804. I have never been able to trace my family back to England. The grandson traveled to Canada and then to the U.S. If there is any possible connection I would be happy to share what info. I have about the desentants and I would be interested in the ancestors.

Obit: A. V. Underhill-died 1934 Civil War Veteran

A. V. Underhill, recognized as the last Civil war veteran in Lawrence county, died yesterday morning in his home five miles west of Miller after a long illness. He was 89 years old and one of the last to volunteer for service.
A member of company D, 170th Ohio infantry, Mr. Underhill had lived near Miller 45 years. One of the proudest possessions was a letter from Lincoln commending him for his war service.
Funeral service will be at 11 o'clock this morning at the home with the Rev. Tom Proctor of Greenfield officiating. Burial will be in Round Grove cemetery under direction of Morris and Lelman. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Electa Underhill; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Kabell, and a son, Ernest, of the home.

Seek info. on the family of James Tandy Underhill and Mary Catherine Rushing Futrell. They had six children, however 4 have all but disappeared from us. Those are;

i. Iva Lee Underhill, born on June 14, 1897 in Trigg, Kentucky. Died on October 01, 1969 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. (cannot confirm death date)

ii. Lulu Jane Underhill, born on August 29, 1898 in Cadiz, Trigg County, Kentucky. She married Robert Ral Jensen, aft 1924. She died on August 02, 1973 in Portland, Oregon. She had Jacqueline Oberline Hillman on Jan 8, 1924 in Buffalo, NY in a home for unwed mothers. Father not named. Seeking descendants.

iv. Eva May Underhill , born on March 22, 1902 in Trigg, Kentucky.

v. Roy E. Underhill, born on March 30, 1903 in Trigg, Kentucky. He father a son, James Eugene Underhill on Oct 4, 1922 via a relationship with Peachy Mae Hargrove. Rumoured to have been killed in Chicago abt. 1922.

I would be really interested to know more of your Thomas and Mary, John and Joanne, and John and Elizabeth Underhills, where did they come from and what registers may I find them, I am also not so sure of Thomas Underhill in Alderminster, but it was on the world tree and I have not included it on my tree since I have not connected them, but my husbands tree definitly goes back to Thomas and his wife Elizabeth Perrins, so would be glad of any help where to look next.

Hello, I don't think they wre the same person, there were 2 branches of Underhills our sedgley branch and also a Werwickshire branch of underhills, they converge a couple of hundred years earlier. I have no reference to a Thomas underhill christened in 1662 in Alderminster, it is possible this is the other branch of Underhills?
I have Thomas and Elizabeth [nee Perrins] in my family tree, his parents were Thomas and Mary [maiden name unknown] Thomas's parents were John and Joanne [maiden name unknown] Johns parents were John and Elizabeth [Welwyde] it goes back to c 1200!

Ira & Joshua Underhill - disowned

Anyone know why Joshua Underhill (b.1765), along with what seems to be his entire family were disowned by their Quaker community (1829 New York)?

Also, awhile back I found a reference to both Ira and his wife, Mary Sutton, being buried together at the Friends' Burying Ground in Brooklyn then being reburied some 50 years later. Anyone know the story?

Looks like we are somewhat related! Arthur was my Great Grandfather - my mother's father's father.

How exciting - I think I can fill you in a little bit here...

Arthur Underhill (b.24 Dec 1874, NYC) was married (7 Jun 1907, NYC) to Helen Elizabeth Sands (b. 5 Jan 1871, Brooklyn).
Together they had two children:
my grandfather, Farnam Sands Underhill (b. 7 Aug 1912, Speonk (Long Island), Suffolk, NY; d. 19 Sep 1981, Jupiter, Palm Beach, FL),
and HIS OLDER SISTER Katherine (Kay) Underhill (b. 1909, NJ).
Although I don't remember much about Aunt Kay, my mother certainly does - she was her very favorite relatives. I do know, however, that her married name was JONES.
Though I can find no record of anything official, I do recall hearing something about Arthur and Helen separating but under what circumstances I'm not sure- it could even possibly have been an agreed upon and amicable arrangement (but I tend to doubt it). What I do know is that by 1930 MRS. Arthur Underhill is the head of household with her son Farnam in New Haven, CT and that by the time of his death in 1934, MR. Arthur Underhill was living with their daughter Kay in New Jersey.
I'm not sure what I have in terms of photos of Kay but I imagine my mother has a bunch stashed away somewhere. I have the wedding book for Arthur and Helen but it's about 3000 miles away, along with all the family photos. I do, however, have a scan of a very sweet photograph of Helen as a young girl. I have a bunch of census images for the families as well.

I am looking for information regarding a daughter of Arthur Underhill, who died in 1934 in Caldwell, NJ. His widow was Helen Sands Underhill. Their daughter, name unknown, was married to a W. Ellwood Jones, also living in Caldwell during the 30s. I am interested in finding out if this W. Ellwood Jones is my grandfather's brother or nephew.

Hi read your post with the list of Underhill's and Linkins'. I have a correction to make. You list Edith Underhill Linkins and Stanley Yale Shepard with children whose last names are Linkins'. This is not correct. The children have the surname of Shepard. Edith and Stanley are my grand parents and their children are my father Stanley Yale Shepard, Jr. and my aunts. I am guessing that this was just a typo.

Hello there, Henry James is my G grandfather and Alice Maud my G Grandmother! I am related through Henry Reginall and you must be related through George Thomas and Olga Cecily Prior, and then there youngest Keith and Priscilla Anne Theeseld, with a brother Johnathan.

If this is you then you are in luck as we have traced the line back to De Underhulle of Bushbury.

I know I have info on John and James but i cant see it in my abridged family history and i don't have access to a master copy at the minute. Please do get in touch and i shall fill you in with what i know :-)

unfortunately i only have access to my abridge family history at the minute but i do have a John that MIGHT fit.
John son of James and Elizabeth (nee Russell). James and Elizabeth married at Himley which is next to Gornal and Sedgley. This is the area of modern Birmingham which has a strong tie to my line.
James was born 1768, m 1796 and Died 1849

dont know if this helps i shall try and have a look when i get to my main copy.

I have Joseph Underhill married Catherine Henderson Aston Juxta 10 April 1815 Birmingham.

Son William born c 1816 married Louisa Baker 24 Aug 1840 Handsworth.

Son William born 12th December 1843 Aston Birmingham married to Jane Hough 29th December 1867.

Son Henry born 12th September 1872 married Jane Huckerby 21st July 1895. Died in 1st World War Aug 1916

Daughter my grandmother born 16th August 1897 married Charles Samuel Bartlett in 1918 at St Basils Birmingham

Just need to tie up some loose ends and try to dig deeper.

But this cemetary photo was of anninias t. underhill and was married to cora b underhill these are my husbands great grandparents. If you are able to view my family tree it has a census that was done in i think 1900 attached to anninais name that shows everyone who lived in his house hold at that time including my husbands grandfather edgar thomas which i am assuming that is what the t stands for in anninas's name. my tree should be listed as underhill holloway some of my husbands children is not correct due to me just starting it a week ago but if they are related to your underhill please share with me what ever info you have. thanks alot brenda

Mr. Underhill, 90, Green Valley Road, Dexter, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at 11 a.m. at his home. A retired construction worker, he was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church.

Born July 20, 1918 in Trigg County (Land Between the Lakes), he was the son of the late Joseph D. and Lou Sadie Page Underhill. Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Rachael Lavern Underhill; three sons, Movon Ray, Roy Milton and Morris Wayne Underhill; one sister, Cozy Synder; three half sisters, Doan Futrell, Rose Colson and Corie Brant; two brothers, Roscoe H. and Rev. Loyd Underhill; three half brothers, Taylor, Nick and Finis Underhill.

Survivors include his wife, Mary C. Eddie Lee Underhill, 59, died Sept. 18, 2008, at his home.

He retired as a truck driver for BestWay Trucking and was a Vietnam War Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Mary; sons, Ricky and Christopher Underhill and Benjamin Spradlin; daughters, Shannon Warne, Beverly Weirich, Betty Underhill and Holly and Karra Spradlin; brothers, Elmer and Jimmy; sisters, Deborah Chesser, Cathy Higgins and Sandra DeLeon; and 16 grandchildren.

Graveside services 1 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, burial to follow. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at Gardner-Brockman Funeral Home.

Dennis "Ray" Underhill, 76, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2009, at Brentwood Golden Living Center. He retired from Consolidated Freightways as a truck driver. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member Faith Free Will Baptist Church. Ray was also a member of the Erie Canal Beagle Club in Vanderburgh County, Indiana, and enjoyed hunting.

He is survived by daughter, Debbie Gerteisen and her husband, Fred, of Evansville, Ind.; sisters, Rilda "Rickie" Reusch of Brownsburg, Ind., Ethel McNeeley of Evansville, Ind.; brothers, Wayne Underhill and his wife, Sue, of Newburgh, Ind., Kermit Underhill and his wife, Joy, of Cato, Ind.; grandchildren, Staci, Adam, Michael Jr. and Ashley; great-grandchildren, Colin and Carter.

Ray was preceded in death by a son, Michael Underhill, and his parents, Dennis and Winnie E. (King) Underhill, sisters, Irene Schaaf, Jeanette Taylor, brothers, Raymond, Omer, Estil and Clifton.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., with Rev. Robert Helms officiating. Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Browning Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 303 N. 5th St., Chandler, IN 47610.

My Step Great Grandmother Rebecca Bronson Herbst had a daughter Anna Laurie Bronson. Anna married Thomas E. Kitson in 1887. They had a daughter named Albertine b. Nov. 24, 1888 in Colorado. She died in San Bernadino County, California Jan. 17, 1966.

Albertine married an Underhill. I know that they lived in Redlands, California from 1934 - 1938.

Iam searching for Information on the Underhills of Sedgley and Over Gornal, I have come to a bit of a wall with Thomas Underhill who married Elizabeth Perrins in 1687. They had a son Thomas who married Mary Patchett and there son, John was a Minister of Upper Gornall, I am looking to find anything on Thomas who married Elizabeth and whether there is a connection with the Underhills of Alderminster.

My Husband is also a direct descendant of Thomas and Mary Underhill, I know that Thomas's parents were Thomas and Elizabeth(nee Perrins), I need to find a link with Edward Underhill of Alderminster, who had a son Thomas ch. 31 July 1662 in Alderminster.( ie Is this our Thomas Underhill of Sedgley?), to prove they are the same person. I have lots of info of Underhills from World Tree , if I can confirm a link.
I have been working my way back through Parish Records, but have come to a wall.

Okay, I am having a bit of a problem opening the Tree, how do I do it? I also have the missing information. Is there a way to find out who is keeping up this branch and logged my father's death?

My birth name is Philip Orlando Underhill II , i do not know much about my family other than my aunt has done research and has shown me a family crest with a lama on the top would love to know if it is anything that you have come across.

My Underhills originally from Devon, but married into Burdge line - Bloomsbury area of London.
