I am looking for info on Captain John Evans, a privateer for the Queen of England. He made her so much money that she gave him a tract of land near Kingston, NY, along the Hudson River. He was born in the 1600s. I know of him and I have info from the present back to my GGGgrandfather, George Washington Evans of NY, born 1836 but nothing in between.
