I just recently became interested in finding out more about my family name and it's historical refrences. That was the easy part. The only information I have available to me is fragments that my parents gave me as I grew up and my parents names. I also now I have a pretty large family, but I don;t know any of there names. My name is obvious. My dads is Gary Uptain my mom Is Vickie Uptain (Melton=maiden) Gary has a brother named Wayne. And thats as far as I know. Any ideas on where I should start to look. There are no family records outside of the information I just gave. I know my grandpa was in the military and the IRS on my dads side. And I was once told that our name was originally "Upton" and latter changed to uptain. But there is no proof of this. Thanks for any suggestions
