Hello, am sure if our families are connected. My Great grandfather was George Lannon who was borned in Michigan. On a census for 1880, Conrad and Julia Lannon had a child named Nellie, although the census indicated that the birth of the child was in 1879, 78. On the census they have John as child also, although not born in Pennsy. but Michigan, and I have obtain a delayed birthrecord which states his birth year completely different than the census inform. which is Conrad and Julia Lannon sibling, birthrecord indicateds information. I'm just wondering if this is the Nellie that we have not been able to locate. I'm not sure if our families are connected, some more information I can provide might determine if it's the same Nellie. Please contact me at quaderer@peoplepc.com

Louise Urbain

My grandmother was Louise Urbain of Brazil, In. She married Victor J. Stievenart and they had 4 children. Here is a clip from my Stievenart website:

Victor Joseph Stievenart (1868-8/18/1954), or "Joe" (as he was known), married Louise Urbain (1878-5/4/1964) January 30, 1901 in Clay Co. (Brazil), Indiana. Louise Urbain was the daughter of Maximillian and Julia Stephanie (Coleman) Urbain.
Maximillian Urbain was born in France. He married Julia Stephanie Coleman, daughter of Fred Coleman and Charlotte Ceigon. Julia was born May 16, 1837 in France, and died August 13, 1921 in Brazil, Clay Co., In.. Julia Stephanie (Coleman) Urbain is buried at Cottage Hill Cemetery, Brazil, In.
The Urbain's had immigrated to the U.S. on July 19, 1881 from France. Louise was 3 yrs. old at the time they arrived in the United States. The Urbain's were also coal miners by trade. Louise had 7 brothers and sisters. She was born in Marle, France. The Urbain's settled in "Stringtown", the French section of Brazil, Indiana.

Having trouble coming up with Grandma's name...all her children list a different name. My tie is with Maxmillian's son Alfred, his son Frank is my Grandfather. Any Urbains out there from Illinois or Indiana, we might be related. I have 400 names now in the tree, but am stuck at Max.
Urbain pictures

I believe that I am related to these Urbains. My grandfather Frank Urbain, was named after his Uncle Frank Urbain, who had a brother, August (Gus). They were born in France and came to Indiana in the 1870's 1880's. Frank and August's mother was Julia. Do you know when the picture was taken. Is there anyway you could email the picture to me. I would love to check it out. I do have a copy of a picture of Julia. Also one of August. Have an Urbain tree with quite a bit of data including immigration data.

Kathy
kquinn51@home.com

Please send me your email. Send it to kquinn51@msn.com, not the one shown on the board. I forgot to change it here. I have 600 names on the Urbain tree and would love to share this with you.

Looking forward to hearing from you, welcome to the family tree!!!

Kathy

Urbain History

We have done some family geneology and this is what we have found out so far about the Urbain name: The name is from Lorraine, in Northern France and is Catholic. There are two family trees and there is evidence the were a wealthy family in a business that may have related to coal. In 1723 the was declared a noble family of France and were given a coat of arms. Lorraine was given to the former King of Poland as he was deposed in his country and his daughter was married to Louis XV. This was a temporary arrangement. During the French revolution there is a story that some members of the family fled to Belgium as they were monarchists and the story goes that revolutionaries were hot on their trail. They settled for a while in Southern Belgium (Mons). During the Empire, some of them returned to France. I believe it was the branch in Belgium that had 9 sons. In the late 1800's 2 of them emmigrated to the US. One settled in Southern Illinois where again the family was somehow linked to coal. This accounts for the large Urbain population in Southern Illinois and Iowa. The other branch (mine branch) remained in Chicago and were less numerous. Science, the arts, thick hair, longevity, and typical Northern French names (Walter, Francis, Joseph, Robert) are typical traits for the family. We are still in touch with very distant cousins in Belgium (one is a famous Minister/Senator). As I said this is just the "jist" of the story. If you can add anything please let me know. I would love to know more facts.
