Hi there 'Eduardo Urena'. No, you are not the only 'Eduardo Urena' in the world. Our third born son is 'Edward Urena' but we can him Ed or Eddie because he is such a great guy. AND, all of us 'URENA's would like to link our family with the other Urena's out there and figure out when, why and where we got from Spain to DR and all points west and wherever we all our now. I hope you are still looking for Urena Family data. My husbands family also were from Arizona and now reside in California. We are trying to get our "Family Tree" in order. However we have hit a 'brick wall'. So many of our family have passed away and with them the names and dates and other needed information we need to link every one together. Hi Onny, I don't know if you ever would get to read this message but I'll give you some details about myself and my family. I don't know how old are you but I'm 29, my grandfather always mentioned that his ancestors were from Spain, he then died back in 1994 in the Dominican Republic, my mother will be the one that can tell me how many brothers and sisters he had, but I don't think they were too many, if you still more help just hit me on yahoo at raulynurena1@yahoo.com

PS: I do remember something very clear that my mother used to say when I was younger, she said that the Ureña that we come from are from Palo alto de Santiago or Jarabacoa, Santiago area, etc, pero somos de por ahy.

Hello all you Urena's out there. My dad was born in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico about 1904. Does anyone out there know any of Jose Urena's family. Jose came to the USA early 1920's. I live in Southern Calif.

My father was born in DR and as far as I know his family came from Spain. Urena is actually his mother's surname as she nbever married his father. as the story goes they had to fell DR in 1923 because of his fathers family (politics and wealthy). His mother's name was Obelinda and his name was Diego (everyone new him as Jack)

As foir the surname, the Urena family became the personal body guards to the King of Sp[ain in the early 19th century. At least that is what I was told by a Geneologist. Hope some of this might be helpful.

My mothers family are Urena from Guama, San Jose De las Matas, Santiago. The name Abelino urena sounds familiar. maybe is the same family.

I'd like to know if your great-grandfather Eugenio Urena was related to any of my family members in the Dominican Republic. I don't know anything beyond my grandparents on my father's side. My grandfather's name was Angel Maria Urena. He married Leonidas Mercedes Caceres. They lived in La Vega, Dominican Republic and had 11 children, of which 7 are still alive, to include my father. My grandfather passed away in 1975. His widow-my grandmother-is still alive and lives in New Jersey. Let me know if you find anything.

Yes, they are from Barranca de Santa Clara. My father is Jose Ureña born in 1949. His father was Benito Ureña Zuniga. He died when my father was about 13yrs old. My mother is Rafaela Gonzalez.

Not really. i did learn that there was a Urena stationed in the precidio in Tucson AZ, in 1776 as part of the spanish garrison. I also know that the city of Ure in mexico was founded by an Urena. beyond that i know little about my ancestory.

I am living in California but I am originally from Arizona. There are a few Urena's there. The story goes that the Urena's founded a city in Mexico called Ure. One of the first spaniards in Tucson, 1750's was named Urena. I am interested in finding more about my family too. I do not know if we are related except by some spaniard way back when. Im looking for the "lost" family of my fathers side.

My great-grandfather was from Spain, his name was EUGENIO URENA, he married my great-grandmother in Dominican Republic. "VICTORIA ALVAREZ". THey had two to three kids. All of them stood with the "ALvarez" last name.

The family stood in Dominican Republic, my great grandparents divorced, and nobody ever met my Spain relatives. It would be great if someone would recognize anything that I said.

I know very little about my Dad's family. He came to NYC USA when he was 5 years old in 1923. His mother was Obelinda Urena. Shen never married. We were told that they came here as aresul of political turmoil and here relationship with a wealthy political family. I don't know waht is true or not. Do you know anything about any of this?

I was informed that the Urena's originally migrated to parts of the Dominican Republic and Central/South America from the Pyrenne's (between France and Spain) some time around 1890 or so. They hated to be classified Spanish, very proud Vasque people with their own language and culture, also Urena means "green lands" (or something like that). Some of the Urena's moved to Mexico from El Salvador, because of conflicts arising between families. Many of the Urena's settled in Tequila Jalisco, and were some of the forefather's of our infamous Tequila.

My parents are Jose Urena and Rafaela Gonzalez Urena. My siblings and I were brought to the U.S. very young. My mother grew up in a place she keeps referring to as "La Barranca". I don't know if this is the same you mentioned.
