My Grandparents (Friedrich Wilhelm Ursel and Karoline Koch) attended the Salem Reformed Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba and I received copies of some of their records. I looked through the info and found something on a Bieber. There is a Jakob Ursel married to Katharina Maria Bieber on 12-5-1910. It shows her parents as Andress Bieber and Margaretha Krauschau. Jakob and Katharina had 3 children: Hedwig Johanna Margaretha b. 12-24-1910, Richard Alfred b. 7-16-1913 and Rudolph Jakob Ursel b. 10-20-1919. Included in the record is the location of the original information, possibly now on microfilm? Does this fit what you are looking for?

I'm not yet sure how I am related to this Jakob Ursel but my Grandfather used to say that all Ursels are related. Hope this is helpful!
Hello. My maiden name was Ursel. My family originally came from Reichau as well. My grandfather was Jacob Ursel. I do have some family information as I had worked on a family tree long ago. But it seemed getting family information was like pulling teeth at the time. Grandma Ursel was also from that area and was a Bieber.

Jakob Ursel

After almost 15 years of looking I may have found my great aunt's husband's name. Alina Adams arrived in Quebec in May 1929 on the same ship with Karol Ursel. Rumor was that she met and married someone from the ship. I've found a tiny entry for Canadian Naturalization listing a Jakob Ursel as husband and Ursel/Adams, Alina as wife. I have no information on Alina or Jakob but Karol is shown as son of Henryk and Marja Ursel of Orchowo, Mogilno, Poland and having spent time in Winnipeg from 11 Aug 1928 to December 1928. Other location listed in passenger list is Central Butte, Saskatchewan. Does any of this sound familiar? I'd really like to find out what happened to Alina. Relatives didn't have any info after her marriage, including surname so this might be a shot in the dark. Her first destination in Canada was Winnipeg and occupation shown was domestic servant.

Wendy Adams

They were German but were living in or from a few different areas including Reichau but due to constant border changes is now part of Poland or the Ukraine? I believe some of the migration records showed them to come from Prussia. My great-great-grandmother was Barbara Walker and she married Johann Georg Ursel. Their son, Frederich Wilhelm Ursel immigrated to Winnipeg along with his wife Karoline (Koch) and a few other relatives. Other names related to Ursel are Walker, Koch, Mattern, Buffi/Buffy/Buffie, Schick.

Do you have an Ursel connection?
