Thank you for posting his obituary. I have been in contact with other Ute relatives (a couple of his niece's) I have gotten his obituary from them.

Thomas "Tom" Patrick Ute, Sr.

LEXINGTON, OH: Thomas "Tom" Patrick Ute, Sr., 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 following a brief battle with cancer.

He was surrounded by his loving children and their mother, Phyllis Ute-Schumacher.

Tom was born on February 4, 1940, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio (Knox County) to Charles Ute and Nellie (Tier) Ute-Dotson and lived the majority of his life in Lexington, Ohio. (Richland County)

He could accomplish anything he set his mind to do.
At an early age he was a champion sprint car racer at Mansfield Raceway, Eldora and other tracks in Ohio.
He enjoyed fishing at his cabin in Canada, an avid Nascar fan, he attended nearly every Daytona 500 race from 1960 to 2012 and he enjoyed raising cattle on the family's farm.

Tom is survived by his wife Jeri; four children, Bill (Carman) Ute of Bellville, Ohio, Doug (Kory) Ute of Prospect, Ohio, Tami Streby of Fredericktown, Ohio and Patty (Cullon) Owens of Lexington, OH; 19 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; his father that raised him, Clinton (Audrey) Dotson of Shelby, Ohio; brother Doug (Kim) Dotson of Waynesville, OH; sister-in-law Hazel Ute of Lexington, Ohio; many loving nieces and nephews, and four step-children and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Tom Ute, Jr.; six brothers, Gary Ute, Charles (Midge) Ute, John Ute, Bob Dotson, Ben Dotson, and Bill Dotson; and one nephew John Lee Ute.

A special thank you to Country Meadows Care Center and Hospice of North Central Ohio for their loving care and support.

At Tom's request, a private graveside service will be held at a later date. Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, 1106 Park Ave. East, Mansfield, Ohio is assisting the family with arrangements.

Still looking for info on John H. Ute

Looking for any info for John H. Ute born 1840 died 1913 in Knox county, Ohio. He was married to Mary Addaline Hogle born 1860 died 1931 in Knox County Ohio. These are my great, great grandparents. I am told that John Ute is from Ute Indian heritage. They had 3 children Kittie Mable, Curtis Wood and Clifford Cleveland.
Kittie Mable married Robert Kent.

I would like to find info on his parents if at all possible. Also would like to know if he is actually from Ute Indian decent.

I think this should be UTIE. Check out John, Nathaniel, and George UTIE in VA and MD. There is definitely a connection here, but I'm not sure where Mary fits in.

I am looking for information on the parents and other ancestors of Mary Ute. She was born approx 1667 in Maryland or England and died on 2/20/1734/40 in Baltimore Co, MD. She married Richard Perkins approx 1668 in Baltimore Co, MD.
