C. O. VAGLE
Carl O. Vagle was born 31 July 1847 at Stavanger, Norway.
Johanna SWENSON was born at Sonnes, Norway 2 Feb 1847.

They grew up in Norway where Carl followed the shoemaker trade and had a little shop. After a few years there they felt the desire to immigrate to America. So, together with their four children: Ole, Inga, Sigvart & Anna they immigrated to this country in the Hazelton Township.

A sod house was their first home, later a log cabin with two rooms and a lean-to on one side for the growing family.

Little carl was born after their arrival to America. In the spring of 1881 he disappeared when the flood water of the river running by their home was so high and two months passed by. A neighbor found his little body in a pile of drift wood two miles down the stream. He was tenderly laid away in the family cemetery. The family cemetery is still there and with many family members who have passed on down thru the years.

There were more children born to the Carl Vagles: Conrad, Jennie, Martin and Samuel. Three others died in infancy.

Carl Vagle died Feb 1934 at age 87 years and Johanna died Dec 1939 at 91 years and 11 months.
