Hi,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help me track down some information on Arthur Vaillancourt. He was born 9 Nov 1889...I suspect in L'Isle-Verte, Quebec but am not sure. I think his father's name was Alcide. He married Dora Demers who was born in Biddeford, Maine in 1895. He lived in Lawrence, MA beginning in 1910, then Methuen, MA and Salem, NH.

Arthur and Dora divorced after 1922. I believe he lived in MA when he died (year unknown).

Daughters: Marie Rita, Beatrice Anita, Jeanette, Juliette.

Thanks in advance!
Rob

3- male, Vaillancourt children in Healey Asylum, Lewiston 1910

Greetings all:
I'm helping a friend research his family tree.

1910 Census:
Healey Asylum, Lewiston, Ward 4, Androscoggin, Maine.

Was the Healey Asylum an orphanage? It appeared all the inmates were children.

Lucian Vaillancourt, age 11, abt. 1899, Male, Maine,
Rosario Vaillancourt, age 9, abt. 1901, male, Maine.
Alabert Vaillancourt, age 5, abt. 1905, male, Maine.

Their surname may have been changed to Smart. This was sugested to me by a lady from Van Buren, Maine. That's how I found the children listed aboue. I could find no census information on Lucien Smart born about 1899.

Being from Van Buren Maine, I must tell you that the surname Smart is not a common name for anyone in the St John Valley. I suggest that it was anglicized and, if I were you, I would start searching for the Acadian French name of Vaillancourt and given name of Lucien. If your Lucian Smart was born in Van Buren, chances are his birth name was Lucien Vaillancourt

Could any of you Vaillancourt researchers help me find these three childrens parent's or any information on where to search next.

Thanks
Tom Thompson
Bradenton, FL.

Good morning!!
I am also attempting to trace my lineage to Celina Vaillancourt who married Joseph Chateauneuf (my grandfather) on July 22, 1873. Could this date be his or her birthdates? My Mother was born to Melanie Marcoux and Jospeph Chateauneuf who were married July 15, 1901 in S. Jesus, P.Q.

Good luck in your endeavors. We will connect again a some point. Thank you.

Yvonne

Noel Vaillancourt, B. 24 December 1866

Hey......

In connection to my previous post regarding Noel and Ellen.... this is a post exclusive to Noel. I am trying to find out what happened to Noel - how and where he died. I've search alot and have come up empty handed.

The family story is that he died at sea. He was a "ship captain". That's all I have to go on. I have pulled enough information together between census records and birth records that his daughter Mary (Marie Euphremie) was left with is brother Joseph Vaillancourt. Mary died in 1913 a few months after giving birth to my Grandmother and very little was shared about Mary, let alone her father, Noel.

I'd be happy to share in greater detail than this post allows... but I am hoping that someone who is researching the Vaillancourts from St. Antoine Abbe may hold the answer to his true demise inclusive of general time frame. All I have to go on is that he died between the birth of Mary, 16 September 1888 and the 1901 census of Canada which shows Mary living with her uncle Joseph and aunt Addie.

Noel and Josephs parents were Moise Vaillancourt and Euphemie Lussier, married 7 January 1887 in St. Antoine Abbe.

I am tracing the paternal lineage of Noel Vaillancourt so I have lots to share in hopes that I can make a connection about Noel.

Cheers folks & Happy Researching...
Rob

Noel Vaillancourt & Holly Dealon (aka Ellen Agnes Dillon)

Hi...

I am searching for information on Ellen Agnes Dillon (aka Holly Dealon) who married Noel Vaillancourt on 7 September 1887 in St-Antoine-Abbe, Quebec, Canada.

Ellen (aka Holly) & Noel are the parents of Mary Euphremie Vaillancourt. Mary was born/baptised on 16 September 1888. Mary Vaillancourt married Adelard Husereau on 25 August 1909 in St-Antoine-Abbe, Quebec, Canada. Mary and Adelard are the parents of Rose Emma Huserau, my grandmother.

I understand that Noel died sometime after Mary was born and that Ellen (aka Holly) left Mary with relatives to be raised (relatives unknown). Ellen did not raise Mary.

It is understood in family circles that Ellen is of Irish Origins and may have come to Canada via the United States or may have left for the United States after the death of her husband Noel. She may have come to Canada directly from overseas or may have been born in Canada to immigrants of Irish origins. In any case - I have very little to go on.

On the marriage record for Noel Vaillancourt and Ellen Agnes Dillon it does not state the mother and father of Ellen - in fact - it makes no reference to parents of hers.

Any places to search would be helpful... any leads would be terrific as well. At present I have strong leads but nothing I can officially tie to the marriage record.

Cheers,
Rob

Mamie Vaillincourt / Vaillancourt - Minnesota

I'm having trouble finding any info on Mamie Vaillincourt, born around 1878 in Minnesota. She married Louis LeVasseur about 1897. They settled in Centerville, Anoka County, MN. Her father was born in Canada (I'm guessing Quebec) and her mother was born in Maine, but I don't know their names. I'm also not sure if her given name is actually Mamie or if it is a nickname. The 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses all show her as Mamie.

Thanks!
Erica

she was actually born in 1853 in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, QC and emigrated to minnesota with her family. she is burried in the immaculate conception cemetery in fisher branch but her grave is un-marked. Theres a a stone at the cemetery with names of all the un-marked graves and her name is on it. I'd like to find the cemetery records, they would probably have some sort of map that shows whos burried where since they do know that she is burried there.. Her fathers name is Francis Vaillancourt her mother is Mathildee Piche. She married Thade oct 1 1874 in Ishpeming, Minnesota. Thade ran away from his home in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts after his mother died, he and his brother went to Ishpeming, MI and they stayed in a boarding house ran by the Vaillancourt family, thats how Mathilde and Thade met. If you want to know more i know a great site i could give you a link for, you could email me, ringette_chick34@hotmail.com

Stumbled across your posting. Antoine Labelle son of Antoine Labelle and Clemence Poitevin/Potvin or Boivin married 3 Nov 1856 at Grenville, Argenteuil, Quebec to Delphine Vaillencourt daughter of Alexis Vaillencourt and Catherine Bazinet. I have two children listed for them both born in Ontario. Jean-Baptiste b. 1862 and Eliza b. 1873. If you have further info and are willing to share I would appreciate it. I would like his parents and siblings as well as his children.
Thanks.

I was thrilled to read about your work on my family name. My father was an orphan and I would love to know more about our family. He was born in New Hampshire but was raised in Boston until he joined the Army pre World War II, assigned to Fort Knox and met my mother. As far as I know, we are the only Vaillancourt in Kentucky. I had no brothers, so the name will leave here when my sister and I both die. So sad for such a beautiful family and name.
