Okay-I know everyone says this...but on my husbands side of the family his grandmother is a Valentine , Valentino. It has been said in the family that they are related to Rudolph Valentino. Can you point me to your lineage online so that I can check to see if the two meet up? Her name is Rose Mary Valentine ,Valentino. Her father is Patsy Valentino Valentine, mother is Mary "Mamie" Bracco. Here are the children as best I can list, Raymond, Joseph, Evelyn, Lillian, Arlene, Rosemary or Rose Mary, and then 2 died. They did live in Syracuse NY at some time. The Bracco family apparently live in New York City.

This Rose Mary Valentino Valentine, married Victor Hugo Fink., whose father was Julian or Julius Fink. Mom's first name was Pauline I believe.

They had several children, two of which are Rose Mary Valentine or Valentino b. 1912 who married Victor Fink, possibly derived earlier from Finklestein, and Katharina Valentine or Valentino. Victor Fink's parents were: Anton Fink and Maria ?? Fink.

Tom,
Nothing you wrote about rings a bell with me regarding the Valentino surname. My grandfather, Giacomo Valentino was born on Mulberry Street in the Little Italy section of New York City, had a brother also born in the City. I believe my great grandfather's place of origin was a Stella Cilente or a city that sounds like that.....there was also a half sister, Raquel Valentino, born in Italy, married a Lisi and they settled in Brooklyn, New York. Surnames with my Valentino family are: Lisi, Colona, Calia, Brandondisi or Brandonisio.

Hello Tom,
what a nice surprise to see a reply to my post.
I wish I could say that your Valentino family is part of mine.
Look's like your Grandfather Carmelo had a older brother Domenico.I'm sure that's who signed the marriage certificate.
My Valentino family followed the Italian naming tradition.
The only name that is a match is Domenico, which is a very common name in Italy.
Debra

Tom,

It is possible. My Valentino's lived on Villa Avenue and the house is still in that family. Lorenzo Valentino was born 02 Dec 1874, I have his youngest child born 1901. I don't have a Carmelo as a son but Carmelo could be a nephew. Lorenzo helped many of his wife's family (Carmela Cerreto) come to the US from Maddaloni.

Does any of this ring a bell.

dancoker@yahoo.com

Hi -

I dont have too much information to work with besides my Grandfather's Death Certificate and Marriage Certificate - but was wondering if you've heard of a Carmelo Valentino (Later known as Charles)?

He married Eleanor Strack in 1922 - he was born on December 1, 1904. The reason your post caught my eye was that Domenico Valentino - my grandfather's marriage certificate was signed by a Domenico Valentino - I am wondering if there is any relation?

-Tom

Hi, Deb,

My grandfather, born in 1888, in New York City had a brother, Jim, I believe he was born in New York City too, also a sister, Raquel, born in Italy and many step-sibs with the last name Brandonisi or Brandonisio.
However, my great-grandfather, Angelo Valentino, came to the US probably in the early 1880's or late 1870's, settled in Little Italy in NY and so far I have no idea if he had any brothers or sisters.
I do believe they came from the region of Puglia, near the city of Bari, and probably from the town of Grumo Appula.
If you would like to share some further information, you can write me directly at: GMJ8@aol.com
Look forward to hearing from you.
Joanne

Dear Jim. Thanks for your E Mail on my Moms name. My mothers family came to the U.S. in August of 1900. Both of my parents were born in Corleone. My fathers family came thru New Orleons, and Tampa, then Chicago. My moms family came on the Ship Archimede, to New York in Aug, 1900. Then Chicago, My father and my uncle, Moms brother, met in a bar in Chicago in prox. 1914. Dad heard my uncle talking, and recognized the accent of Corleone. My two grandfathers knew each other in Corleone. Also I have to mention that your name is the same as a 5 star hotel in the French quarter of N.O. And to make it more strange, Nick Spatafora was the general manager of this hotel for over 30 years. A distant cousin of mine. Please get back to me. Jack Spatafora

Donnadio from PA

Looking for information on Eurelia (Laura?)Donnadio who lived in Connellsville, PA about 1907. She was married to Joseph Gesualdi. My grandmother Lucy Vento's baptismal certificate from St. Rita of Cascia Roman Catholic Church listed a Michael Donnadio (Eurelia's brother?) and Carmela Fura as a baptismal sponsors. They eventually moved to Cleveland,OH and the spelling of their last name was changed to Jeswaldy somewhere along the way.

Maiden Name Posted by Regina

Regina,
You posted a response to my inquiry about Frank Valentino.
i don't thinkg we are talking about the same person. The info I am looking for concerns Frank Valentino whose parents were Mr.& Mrs. Joseph Valentino from Long Branch, N.J.
After searching through papers and correspondence my late mother had saved since 1944, I found the names of Frank's brothers. They were Sammy(Sal), Angelo, Louis and Charles. After being discharged from the Armed Forces, Frank resided with his parents at 421 Prospect St.in Long Branch. All the brothers worked in a family business which was Valentinos Food Market. They owned 2 stores that supported all their families. Frank's wife was Helen (do not know maiden name).
They married in 1948 or 1949. In 1956 their address was 413 Indiana Ave. in Long Branch. In 1958 correspondence, the address was 228 Alpern Ave., Elberon NJ. ASt this time Frank and his wife had 3 children: Maria-Elena, Louise and Frankie, as his faher referred to him. He might have been Frank, Jr. I have further correspondence from the family up through 1961, but can't put my hands on it right now. My mother had all this information packed up and she passed away November 13 of this year. I have put the other letters and pictures in with some other things and I will find them eventually. My Mother, Grandmother and one of my cousins were very close friends with Frank while he was stationed at Thomasville Ga in the mid-forties for almost 3 yrs., I beleive. They spoke of him often through the years and I would like very much to get in contact with him if he is still living or some of his family. Can you or anyone else be of help to me? My name is Sharon Baker. My maiden name was Taylor. My mother's maiden name was Crosby. She and my father Turner C.(Pat Taylor were married on November 10, 1946. I was raised in a small town (Meigs, Ga). and have ,lived in thomasville for the past 10 years. Please post or e-mail me at sharonb@myexcel.com.
