I was about 7 or 8 when my grandfather died. He was a laborer/stone mason and also worked at Bethlehem Steel.

Do you know if my grandfather had any brothers or sisters that you know of. In your research have you come across anything on the Anselmo/Valvo families?
What information do you have that I can add to my search?
Is there someone you can ask about the Anselmos?
I seem to be stuck.

Just checked my messages. Was your grandfather in the baking business. I seem to remember my great uncle was in the baking business. I think your grandfather was my great uncle.

My grandfather, Giovanni Anselmo and grandmotherAngela had 3 children: Joseph, Louis, Josephine. My father is Louis, I am Angela (named after my grandmother).

My grandmother's maiden name is Battaglia. What I am trying to find out is when they married. Both came from Montemaggiore, Sicily.

Hello Charles: Just came across your message (rather late, I would say). I know Lisa very well. Shelives on the next block from where I live.

My maiden name is ANSELMO. Here is the connection to the Anselmo family.

My grandmother, Angela Valvo was married to my grandfather, Giovanni Anselmo.

Lisa's grandfather, Crusiano and my grandmother, Angela are brother and sister.

Crusiano had 5 sons, Charles, Lisa's dad; Joseph; Louis, Mike and John.

How is that for info.

I stumbled upon this site purely by mistake.
My grandfather was Salvatore Valvo, died a 4 years ago in Australia. Grandmother, Guiseppina, passed away two weeks ago. Originally from Palazzolo, then Canicattini before moving to Australia back in 1956-ish (need to verify from my father)

My grandfather had a brother who died in 1989, three months after I saw him for the first (and last) time, who's name escapes me at the moment.

I do not know very much about my past, except that my family originated in Sicily, Italy and changed the name Valbo to Valvo upon comming to America. My great great grandfather was Antonino Valvo. My great grandmother was Antonina Valvo born 1893. The were both from Aliminusa, Sicily. I believe she had a sister born 1890. Do you think there might be a connection. They lived in and around Dunkirk and Forestville, New York. Please let me know if you have any information that may help.

The information I have is second hand-I don't know

was Dorothy Lapenta(spelling may be incorrect)
The adoption was arranged with my mother
going into the hospital using my adopted
mother's name. My relatives knew her, but
they are all dead. One relative said her
father was a druggist. Another relative said
he was a policeman who was shot. Who knows.
