Jeremiah H. Van Sickle, aged 83 years, one of northern Columbia county's oldest residents, died at his home in Jamison City. He was eighty-three years of age. Mr. Van Sickle was one of the party that first penetrated North Mountain and helped hew the trees of the virgin forest and was one of the earliest settlers of that section. He served with distinction throughout the Civil War.
He is survived by the following children: Mrs. John Hilley, of Benton Township, Earnest and Edward Van Sickle, of Jamison City, Floyd Van Sickle, of Sugarloaf Township, and Mrs. Luther Benshoff, Jr., and Mrs. Thomas Withey of Bloomsburg. A sister, Miss Harriet Van Sickle, also survives.
